If you have such a desire, then of course invest. Now the market is as open as possible to make major investments in it. I think that it is more humane and profitable to invest in some kind of a large cryptocurrency now
If this is the first time for you in investing, then i just recommend you to learn trading by investing in altcoin. Every part of the investment has its own risk, bitcoin has the lowest risk but it is for long term investment. ICO has the highest risk, and also no one can guarantee that the price will reach higher.
There are so many New ICO's these day ? Is that safe to invest in ICO ? any 1 invested in 2018 ? 2017 was the year of ICO's but is that still safe to invest ? or how to know which ICO is good to invest ? like GIG9, Eligma, Medicalchain, Trustedthealth
Start by investing in BTCitcoin or Ethereum. These are the most reliable and least volatile coins and the price's is now very good.
Recently, Vitalik announced that the casper protocol, plasma & other updates soon will be implemented into eth blockchain [ethereum 2.0], so ETH now is very good choice in my opinion.
The more you spread the seeds of investment, the wider the source of income you have. Choosing investment in BTC, Altcoin, or ICO, in my opinion, is very good because if you have joined Crypto but cannot explore, it will be very unfortunate because it does not take advantage of the opportunities that already exist as well as possible.
I would also invest in all three. Three different kinds of experience that can teach you a lot and give you so much for your future success. Dealing with holding, trading, bounties, ICOs gave me a lot.I would not advise newcomers to follow your example, it is better to start investing in one thing, see what the result will be, write out all the errors and difficulties, and then continue. So you quickly gain experience and do not miss any valuable information.
If i really know the answer, i would probably won't tell that to you. Don't mind what all the people are saying and just make your own decision.
I would advise you not to invest your money in startups now because they often do not give you the desired profit. Insect better in top coins in the market
In my view maximum of ICOs are launching for crowdfunding and they collect the money from the market and closed their websites fortnightly. We need to safe our hard money from sach scam of ICOs. We can invest our money in some of reputed altcoin like ethereum, bitcoin cash, XRP as well as it is much better to invest in bitcoin without hesitation for future growth of money.
investing is upon investors and there needs and there capital , there are cheap and costly coins in market , it depends how much can risk they can afford and how much profits they are targeting

maybe the ico invest is quite interesting because the price tends to be cheap and usually gets bonus promos but usually have to be more patient waiting for the right time to get the profit because they have to hold until the coin price increases
You can invest in Bitcoin, Those altcoins will not exist without Bitcoin and they will only serve as the test basis for all projects implemented with Bitcoin. Altcoin is also a way of making a profit for the entire ecosystem of currencies. The return will then be changed to Bitcoin or nominal currency. But that just my thought, you can invest in everything you want.
The most stable coin at the moment is BTC but I think it would bring more profit if you invest in altcoins right now. They have lost much more than Bitcoin and it means that they will be pumped harder and will achieve new price goals.
for now I've left investsi ico, ico resulted because many scams. I chose to invest bitcoin and ethereum running mates now. but I must admit the ico investment really successful and bring in profits it could give us an advantage that is very much more than the profits from investments other assets or bitcoin.

investing in BTC gives us hope in the future because BTC is the best potential coin. it's just that investing in BTC must have a strong mentality because BTC is easy to get down and unstable but behind all that BTC can provide a big advantage if the patient holds it. whereas investing in the ICO is currently very risky, it is better to wait for the market to recover to start investing in the ICO. 
Bitcoin is the best to invest so far I think it is less risky but suitable for long-term investment. You also can choose altcoin for short-term investment ETH, LTC and Ripple would be the best to invest. But I have no clear idea for investing ICO project I have heard it has many risks. But research your own way and take a decision.

my opinion is better to invest in Bitcoin than ICO or altcoin, because :
1. Many ICOs fail and scam, so it's just a waste of your time and money;
2. Bitcoin prices are down and this is an opportunity to buy and hold Bitcoin, because the price of Bitcoin will definitely increase;
3. investing in Bitcoin is safer than Altcoin because Bitcoin is in the top 1 cryptocurrency;
4. Most of the price of Altcoin is influenced by the price of Bitcoin, so if the price of Bitcoin rises then the price of Altcoin also increase, so it is more profitable for us to invest in Bitcoin rather than Altcoin.

More better for your investment on altcoin because I can take much profit with some altcoin investment, we can take profit day by day or long term investment, for ICO we have waiting unknow time because many ico have delay for listing their coin on the exchange market.
