I won't really invest in ICOs right now, as it is really difficult to differentiate between scam and real project. Investing in bitcoin and ETH is more preferable.

Actually investing in ICO or IEO is not a bad idea but we also have to look at conditions where at present both of them are still quite vulnerable to fraud and as investors we cannot force ourselves, this is too risky we lose our money if we make the wrong choice.
indeed ICO investment is still very big risk for losing money because under normal conditions, we can lose if trading conditions are not so good. especially if the conditions are now where many ICO projects are scam, it will be very bad for investment. but when we can choose the right project, we will definitely get a sizable profit.
Now it is the time for IEO instead of ICO. IEO has become more popular, gradually replacing ICO. So I want to suggest that investment in IEO is a wise step. But one must research before investing. There are many scam projects looking for good opportunities to scam traders and investors. So stay away from these projects.
i think you should stay away from ICOs unless you are absolutely sure what you are doing and have done your own research. Personally, im leaning towards scouting for under valued coins and purchasing them on the long. My current favourite coin would be KOZ.
Investing in ICO and IEO projects for now is still quite popular, but we must always be prepared to lose big money. Let's just say when we have bought ICO or IEO they have lost our money and will not come back again, so that is a little way to ease the burden and most importantly examine the details of the project.

As long as you know the people behind them, they are real people, they do webinar and Youtube live stream you hear them talk and see them explaining about the project.
As long as they offer a very good concept, definitely you should invest when they have a concept as great like Ethereum,

In my opinion, a very promising project with the help of a professional team can intensively develop even without the presence of large investments, which were announced by the teams during the ico of the company or IEO. And on this basis, if someone knows or is confident in such a project, then there is no point in worrying about your money and you need to immediately invest in this project. Previously, the problem on the ico company market was that fraudulent developers stole investor funds, but in a promising project, people should be honest.

It seems that the ICO no longer makes investors more confident since the end of 2018. The born IEO is considered to be an upgraded version of ICO with a better level of information security for investors. But there are still important and reputable ICO projects that you have to carefully select, check the potential and choose for yourself an experienced team to have good products.
Investing on ICO's is not really a good idea right now and there are other better alternatives out there such as IEO's and coins that are in top exchanges. IEO provides you liquidity and security as an investor and Binance are listing quality coins that already has an integration to apps which are being used by millions. Let's not repeat the same mistake we all experience last 2017 and instead learn from it, not all projects doing ICO's are scams but the risk is greater than the potential reward you may get.
Of course, you can now invest in ico companies and IEO, but I do not see any difference between the benefits that exist today and which was a year ago, when investing in new projects. Everyone is expecting a bull run, but it is unlikely that anyone can predict something in the near future, since only one Bitcoin has shown good growth results since the beginning of 2019. I think it is still time to invest in good and promising ICO and IEO projects. The bull run for Bitcoin and altcoins is coming soon, and there are still many promising projects which have experienced teams and useful products. You just have to make your own research before investing.
Do not buy ico but instead put your invesments on IEO projects, projects that are conducting thier token sale in a major exchange like binance ,bittrex.
buying ico right now I think it's not recommended, maybe you should choose IEO but if you want to buy ico. maybe you should be more selective about ico and you can try to choose potential ico.
actually, you don't need to ask if you need to invest in ICO / IEO or the like, because it's just based on interest. when you are really interested in a project, we will participate to support it. for now, quite a lot of potential ICO / IEO, finding out about one of them is likely to make you interested in investing.
For now, it is more focused on IEO or STO. Investments in ICOS have now decreased. ICO should now compete with IEO and STO. So many people are now switching to the IEO project because they can see directly the development of Token sales.
