@philipma1957 why only usb sticks, i have a proposal, most of us have btc farms, what if for maybe 1 week/monthly everyone of us donate hashrate for the club? If we hit a block everybody will receive more than normal mining  Grin

ps : In bitcoinbg (our Bulgarian bitcoin forum)we have a project called solo lotto, we collect some BTC from everyone who want to join the idea and rent a hashpower from nicehash, offcourse we dont hit a block  Grin

I'm in, as soon as they arrive.

Is there a complete config example for the Compac somewhere for this set up? Or can someone post one they've had success with? Whichever works best for this club, of course.

I'd like to get them into the pool as soon as they arrive with a cut and paste and edit, instead of EFing around trial and error. Haven't used a USB or cgminer or bfgminer for quite some time.

Thanks!

based on the above if we hit right now   Jake36stick  would not get a share

It is interesting to see that my 1d average with the donated hash reads 72.7g   while yesterday I did a 5 hour rental of 5th I would think I should show 1th for the 1d average.  since 5/24 = 20 percent and 20 percent of  5th = 1th (I rounded on the 5/24 = 20%)

I will check the nicehash stats on my rental yesterday.

here is the rented hash we had around 5th for about 5.2 hours

  so it looks like ck's 1 day average does not work the way I thought it would, not sure if this is a problem for running the club.

Remember most likely this pool club will never hit a block.

The master user addy is this.

Current workers are here:

9 ) http://solo.ckpool.org/workers/1JiWuyX94wrCr7JhkAn7x5qNMCEef1KhqX.larry12stick  --------- not yet

10) http://solo.ckpool.org/workers/1JiWuyX94wrCr7JhkAn7x5qNMCEef1KhqX.sidehackstick --- not yet

right now my rental is back up for 5 hours or so.

First 6 are all online and working and I am missing someone as the masterlist reads 7 workers  maybe it reflects

the offline Jake36stick  or maybe I missed someone.  number 8 is a place holder.

 So far the biggest issues I can see are:

 1) people going on and offline.
 2) people/workers not telling me and not being on the list.

right now I have 7 listed on the master user list and I can only find 6 working.

No problem. Note that Minera doesn't work with the sticks out of the box yet. Instead you should use my Minera/cgminer-gekko mod. That's what I'm using and it's stable.

The URL for the mod download is on the main stick support page. But here's another copy for convenience:

https://dbtbmm05cubzd.cloudfront.net/cryptocurrency/mods/minera_compac_mod.zip

There's a read me in the zip archive that will get you going.

Note that it contains a complete bootable Pi image, so the download is large (close to 2 GB).

Are instructions available (for beginners) to use a raspberry pi rather than a pc to control these sticks?

I've never used the --balance option under Minera before. I'm not sure it's going to work, but it's worth playing with. We'll see...

FYI, this works fine with Minera, even though the app doesn't have direct support for configuring the pools for balance. I now have two sticks on the same Pi with load balancing between the club address and my own address on CK's solo pool.

If you're using Minera, here's what you do:

  • Go to Settings -> Pools and configure only the pools that you want to load balance. Remove your failover pools.
  • Press the "Save" button to save your pools (but don't restart the miner yet).
  • Go to Settings -> Local Miner -> Manual options and add this option: --balance
  • Scroll down then press the "Save & Restart Miner" button.

Note that it takes a bit of time for Minera to gather and display the stats in the widgets. Once it's been running a while, it will accurately report the split of hash rate in the Local Miner Details widget. But it erroneously double reports the hash rate in the Local Pools Details widget. No big deal...

As an alternative way to check your poolside hash rate spit, you can use the "workers" URLs like Phil demonstrated. For example, here's the one for my club stick worker:

http://solo.ckpool.org/workers/1JiWuyX94wrCr7JhkAn7x5qNMCEef1KhqX.edonkeystick

To look at your other workers on CK's solo pool, use the same URL but with your receive address.

Note it takes a while before the numbers returned resemble reality.

If I remember, I'll set up a stick pointed at this too. Most of the ones we've built get cycled directly into testing and shipping, but we kept the venerable #1 (being the very first fully functional Compac assembled on the robot and bearing the first serial number) for the museum shelf.

Nice! A museum shelf.

It will also be nice when that shelf is full someday. Maybe with the first Compac Blade, Compac Tube, etc Wink

ok, I should be there..

relevant part of my conf file:

Code:
"url" : "stratum+tcp://solo.ckpool.org:3333",
                "user" : "1JiWuyX94wrCr7JhkAn7x5qNMCEef1KhqX.vapourminerstick",
                "pass" : "pw"

both sticks there at the moment, 125 Mhz each.. about 6.5 gh/s each, sticks at 45 C with no fans and 71 F ambient.

much tweaking to do.. will have more time tomorrow

only need point one and I can show you how to do it when you have 4 sticks

basically you list 4 pools and balance the loads.

Ah, that's a clever idea! When I first signed up, I had 2 sticks pointing at the club worker URL.

Now I've added the "--balance" option to the command line and specified two URLs (one for the club worker and the other my own address on CK's solo pool). It seems to be working, but of course my club worker will now show half the hash as before.

I've never used the --balance option under Minera before. I'm not sure it's going to work, but it's worth playing with. We'll see...

I am still in to point my Stick when the Canada batch get it.

I am surprised you are throwing additional rented hash at this Phil, so i am going to reciprocate with what i can afford, i am adding an underclocked S1 as donation hash.
