In general, merit is given to friends, not to qualitative posts. However, the number of merits is exaggerated to promote one ranking to another.
No man, for quality post, people get merit. You can check a lot of people get ranked after the merit system. problem is altcoin board is so big and no one visit because shitposters are full of it. That's why we don't get merit.

But honestly speaking, I think there is a higher chance that a new post having a lot comments will be rewarded rather than merited post/comment.

It would be really a brilliant idea and merit system would get its success. Shitposters will get out of the campaign and forum will also get cleared which the objective of the merit system.
This idea is briliant unfornutely its so hard to implementation in rules. The participant in bounties almost thousand bounty manager cant handle it. BM cant check one by one post from every participant. Also the quality of post will be check.

I like the idea of this. It should be used as an added incentive to the bounty hunter. However, it can be abused by greedy people who purchase merits on the black market
Merit is a very valuable resource on the forum and no one is in a hurry to reward other participants, because its number is limited. If the bounty managers encouraged all worthy messages , they would just not enough for this merit.
This idea is very difficult to implement in practice. Because it is not clear when a post will receive merits, maybe it will not receive any merit during the campaign, but it may receive merit after the campaign. What happens in this case?
Some of managers use this kind of encouragement. In some signatures you can't get access without merit.

Quite a great suggestion but after all, we rely that on the bounty campaign manager rights whether s/he will accept or not.
Because the campaign managers are only checking the number of posts that a participant made and number of characters instead of the quality of it that contributed the OP, that's good point by the way. Some Managers in Signature campaigns are handling a lot of participants and checking one by one of their post would cost a lot of time and effort so it's so sad that the merit system is not working with this.
So by using regular expressions you collect last week message data to the table and analyze that. All information about user's merit points is here.
And if the same message was merited by several users it also can be checked automatically.
Okay, that's a good method and maybe can be applied to manage bounty. But, how about high-quality posts was didn't get single merit out there? And if the same message was merited by several users it also can be checked automatically.
That idea will help a lot of accounts holders to give their best to the forum and also to members on the forum.

I think it is a good idea. I have seen several bounty campaigns with such conditions. Unfortunately, I could not participate in them. I think in the future there will be much more such bounty campaigns.
Actually, what you're talking about is a pretty good idea, but bounty managers are not sources of merit, they have no additional reserve that they could spend. The only thing they have - the same amount of Merit as have all other forum participants. And this is not enough for this.

As for your post getting merited - that's an amazing idea, and great advertisement for the project you're wearing the signature of.

It looks great, but as you may note, merit system follows a highly relative distribution (ie, you may find a high quality post without any merit points , while a less quality written post may gain merit ) which can lead to an inequality in term of both ranking memberships & bounty bonuses

Well lets look to the user (the choise is random. I don't know that user and use the data just as an example)

You do not need to check all posts manually. I don't think that bounty managers manually check posts for character limit. They use scripts. I hope. Otherwise it's a wasting of time.

The idea is interesting. This would encourage people to write quality posts and possibly further reduce the amount of spam in this forum. But on the other hand, capitalize merit quite difficultly and it can result in a new wave of sales merit and will give the opportunity to influential accounts to capitalize on this. Merit as gratitude for useful information will almost never be applied.
To partly avoid the situation bounty reward could be paid not for the count of merit points but for how many different users merited the message.
For example
1 user merited the message - 1 stake
2 users merited the message - 3 stakes
3 users merited the message - 8 stakes
5 users merited the message - 25 stakes
So it's not matter how many merit points you get from a single users
