So I just wanted to pick your brain on what you would do in this situation. I started mining earlier this year and have 5 rigs up and running (10x 1080ti 7x 1070 3x 1060 & 2x 1050ti) My girlfriend and I are about to break ground on a new home on 14 acres, we live in Ohio so heat 6 months and AC 6 months. I had planned on making a mining cave in the basement with dedicated ventilation. I would like to expand to more GPU’s and possibly get into a couple of ASIC’s if possible in the near future.
After thinking about a mining room in the basement I am afraid that expansion could be an issue… My other thought was to set a 10x12 shed (zoning restrictions UGH!) near the house and have electric run to the shed. Doing that, I would be able to vent it without relying on AC and would not have to worry about the noise in the basement or heat issues. Obviously the shed would increase the cost over just making a room in the basement though…
As for electric, I had planned on starting off with 2x 30 amp 240 volt circuits and run PDU’s from there. That would be more than enough to run what I have up and running right now and give me room for expansion.
What can you see as Pro’s and Con’s to either and which would you opt for in this situation?
FYI 60 is the new 40…
Thanks!
Bones
Suggestions:
1) Go the 3 or 4 or 5 car garage route plus add a laundry room. Keep the original laundry room in the house. Integrate outside air vents.
2) Future proof by adding several heavy duty outlets for charging an electric vehicle. Presumably one for each garage stall. Plus the 30A 240V dryer outlet #2 could be converted to other uses.
Naturally this extra space could be repurposed for other uses.
IIRC, IRS max deduction for a home office was $1500 in CY2016.
If it is a new home
how about this? bay 1 and 2 mine
you have a wall with a door to keep them away from other 2 bays.
