Yeah I normally mod the threads so when insults fly I quote the post and delete the offending post.
Last thread I missed modding it and a few times the thread had abusive insulting or out of context posts.
I let it slide but todays 2 posts on my incomplete build using the ryzen 1800x made me decide to end the thread.
So back to normal with me having mod status. in thread six.
I will post more on the complete ryzen 1800x build .
Phil, I apologise.
I was most likely the one that made you close the thread. My intention was definitely not to insult in any way, I just used language that was tainted by the few beers I had just had! It was meant as banter, not insult. Again, Sorry about that.
I like the water-cooled build.
As a matter of fact, I did one myself a few months ago. I have a think client in the living room that I use as htpc to connect to my NAS. One day I picked up my last two remaining R9 280X from 2014... and decided I should plug them onto that mobo. But being in the living room, I didn't want them to be noisy... so as they already had water blocks on, I added a pump a rad and some tubing, and off it went.
It looked cool, the little water-cooled mining htpc. But unfortunately those 280x's just produce too much heat. As the thing was tucked away in a cupboard, the heat couldn't be expelled well enough, forcing me to have the cupboard open, which led to noise.
I dismantled the thing shortly thereafter. But it was a fun experience.
Now I wouldn't do a water-cooled mining rig anymore. Too expensive. I'm anal about breaking even quickly. Hence why I laughed a bit too eagerly at the figures you were presenting with the 1800x (as well as the peeps out there buying a couple of USB mining sticks).
Good luck with the build!
