Phil - what are your temps on the 1070 TI Hybrid 8 card board?

I'm running 3 on a ASUS right now just to test and I'm liking these. Just have to figure out how to stash these big 'ol heatsinks lol.

Yeah, sadly I missed the boat on LTC.  Almost bought into it way back when it was at $4 but didn't then could never pull the trigger since I kept thinking back to that $4 mark... even when it was at $10 and $20.  Same myopic thinking that has kept me out of IOTA... was super close to buying about $1k worth while at .33 cents (only 2 weeks ago) but got side-tracked and next thing i know it's at .90 cents, so I figured too late, I missed the boat... only to see it now pushing $5 and #4 total market cap coin... although now LTC has passed it. Oh well... hindsight is 20-20 lol.

On the mining front, I think i am finally done mining ETN.  Yeah, it's been #1 supposedly for profit on rx 470s for some time now but in reality, it's not because of all the issues with that network. I just tried my 4th pool and my 3 day returns were only 41% of what the mining calculators say. not only that but I suspect that ETN price will tank once the ICO wallets are activated, so i pointed those 2 rigs back onto XMR... which is right now pushing hard to hit $300! 

Still checking the big sites daily for the new round of Vega's to come in. Seems like it should be any day now. I need 2-3 more to complete a killer Cryptonote rig.

its mind boggling to think a 1080ti can be bought for ~0.039BTC....

this LTC rally is nice.   I have been expecting it for the last 6 months;  because every other "staple" coin out there had done it but LTC.... this is the biggest push I have seen LTC make (speaking on a total market cap basis)

Sadly I wish I had bought more, but I think using those funds to double up several times on BUB in the last few months make me not regret my decision to sell my LTC.

thoughts on powering risers connected to evga 1060 3gb that are going to be pulling no more than 70 watts with a sata connection split 3 ways?

aka 1 sata cable to 3 risers

also anywhere to buy individual cables evga psu / anything universal work properly with them?

70 x 3 = 210w ... still well below 300w threshold.... there is only one way to find out.

Probably a silly question, but will check anyway.
Have my first 2400W PSU from parallelminer finally arriving today with a Pico PSU.
Once I connect it all up, is it the same as using an ATX PSU in that I just press the power button to turn it on?
Or do I need to do something different like set to "turn on with power" in the mobo BIOS?

so 3 cards at 2050 each = 6150

instead of busting your ass  to get 4 on 1 board.

buy the same board  it is pretty cheap and do 3 on it

6 cards doing 12300  on 2 boards is really good.

and you could use  a lessor psu like this one

I have a 4 card Vega56 rig and this 4 card Vega64 rig (3 working). All is not lost! I will try an m.2 to PCIE adapter to see if that works.

If not, then yeah, I have options. I don't think I can find two more vegas for another rig though! they are a complete sell out in Australia.

I started out with  DDR3L  1600/1333MHz 1.35 volt as that's what Onda states on its website:

I then went to DDR4 SO-DIMM DDR4 2133  1.2 volts. It's the same one vapourminer used - but only 4 GB instead of 8.

I can barely read the etching on the RAM slot but it looks like:
DDR4 ST12V       P (or D) R (or 4) 1710.

i also plugged in all power connectors: the atx mobo and 8 pin cpu (duh), 3 molex, 3 sata even when i just had just one card in setting it up initially. card was in 1st slot closest to cpu.

other stuff was standard: G4400 cpu, 128 gig msata.

what is this "brake pedal" you speak of?
That's a very good idea and a cheap solution too - to ensure that cards are lined up standing correctly and with 3 fans mounted like that.

Whats the dimension like -- I will do some experiments this weekend. Thanks for idea.

The aluminum angle stock is 1/16" thick by 1/2".  3x 120mm fans measure 360mm across (duh) (about 14.25") so that would be the length to cut the aluminum stock at.  I cut mine a little short since I was only going by what was needed to support the GPU brackets.  To precisely mark the holes for the GPU brackets, I held the aluminum stock in place underneath the GPU bracket lips, and then used a permanent market to mark for the holes through the oval holes in the GPU bracket lips.  I did a similar thing for locating the holes for the fans.  Btw, I never did shut down the rig while doing any of this.  Did want to loose the hashes, lol.
It's a nice way to straighten up the cards... but the fans don't do much for airflow, as they're placed just in front of the GPUs' exhaust fans. Ideally those 120mm fans should be placed behind the GPUs to help blowing cool air onto the backplates, I reckon...

i wound up putting 3 140 mm Noctua 133 cfm fans along the back of the gpus.  i also added a 4th fan,  an old antec low airflow 140 because i had it and just stuck it inline with the cpu. not really needed. the fans are hooked to a scythe fan controller, i wasnt sure how loud the fans were and i want this build to be as quiet as possible. its in the basement so noise isnt a problem but i just wanted a quiet build, well, just because Smiley  the cards run very cool but the basement is around 65 F.

heres pics of my setup, for no real reason.. i used polplar wood for the initial frame to see how it all fits, ill probably go with metal at some point.





and the hash rate etc. still dialing in power and stuff. on ewbf gpu0 is a 1070ti, gpu1 is a 1070.

they move a lot of air and are not crazy loud.

they also use  about  .6 amps  x 12 volts = 7.2 watts  no fan  moves this much air  with watts that low

Well I just spend 5 hours trying to get 4 * Vega 64 working on a Gigabyte Z170-HD3. I have 3 cards detected and running at 2050h/s... but it can't see the 4th card. In fact, I have only ever seen it in Windows ONCE.

I'm thinking of buying an ASUS Z270-P and doing a straight swap.

I've tried a lot including new risers, swapping in and out etc.

so 3 cards at 2050 each = 6150

Cool, very tidy. I look forward to hearing the temps on a fully stocked rig. I'd like to go this way from risers too.

Does the board connect to psu through all the pcie on the right (of the first photo) and then the connectors on the back are 'jumpers' to the cards?

Right the GPU0 is at 68 degrees with fan at 50%.  Room is rather warm at 26 degrees.  The other GPU's are in the mid 50's.  The fans I used are pretty weak, so I might get more powerful ones if needed.  One thing I thought about was to add another 1/2" angle stock at the bottom to "seal", forcing all the air to be pushed through the cards.  I'm assuming the colorful board is running the fans at 100% speed but I'm not sure.  Next time I'm in the BIOS I'll have a look to see if it tells me.  (the 3 fans are connected to fan headers on the mobo)

Yes, the PSU is feeding the colorful via 8x PCIe power cables and the colorful is, in turn, feeding the GPU's.

I can vouch for the Ultra Kaze -- its super powerful - I use it a lot for rigs that needs assistance to move air upwards.

I don't know what voodoo magic this fan does but it also easy on watts - very impressive for a 3000 RPM fan.
