Goodluck man, i have been profit switching $9.31USD/day for 7 day average per 1080ti, been a great week for Nvidia Alts with Altcumminity coin

where do you usually get your info on what is profitable? Do you go after each new ANN or just read on news-boards?

So to clarify, Vega rigs need to run Win10 as of the moment?

No one is running on linux?

Correct, if you want 1900+ h/s then you need windows 10 + blockchain drivers., and a lot of finessing.

4gb is sufficient. the HBCC issue, you can just disable and reenable cards in device manager. No need to toggle HBCC.

I only have 2 rigs of vega and they work with 8gb. (bought a ton of 4gb sticks so most my rigs run 2 sticks)

How often is this kind of maintenance to re-enable HBCC required?
Never with your 8GB?
yeah,i also use DDR3L 4GB with 6 vegas on onda D1800-BTC

and now,hashrate is wonderful!

onda's mobo make me easy for mining. so i had order  more 10 pices.
i will share my mining frends that. Grin Grin Grin

Check the Vega threads , it is very easy to make a batch file to disable and enable the cards on startup, HBCC isnt the factor boosting the Hash rate , it is a driver bug where you need to disable and enable the GPU and that is exactly what HBCC does . ,Better use a Mobo with Built in GPU and use a Dummy plug for screen on all the time . the only thing i am having problem with is that with every crash i need to re-adjust wattman settings .

Is the total rig cost for deploying 4xVega56 optimally higher due to memory requirements for activating HBM2? i.e. 32GB REQUIRED?
Will you also need to run win10? which means deploying an SSD? Or can you run on linux usb stick?

hows about power draw? at what power are those sols produced?

Isn't 16GB of RAM sufficient?

As for power draw, this is taken from Hellae's reddit guide;

VEGA 56 with Stock bios: Target objective: 1800H/s @ 160W per GPU.

VEGA 64 / VEGA 56 with VEGA 64 bios: Target objective: 1920H/s @ ~130W per V56.

I also have 6 * 1080ti. Do you convert to btc daily?

I set and forget to ZEN because it was very good to me in the past and may again be Smiley

They are just a few percent apart in price. Let's consider performance to hash

Vega56 - 1800h/s XMR - $4+/day. 150W

1080ti - 700h/s Zcash - $3.3/day. 200W

1070ti 500h/s Zcash - $2.4/day. 130W

Vega are kinda like cryptonight ASCI. Amazing at one algo, but pretty low price perf in other algo. Vega is the most difficult card to tune and setup fyi.

Nvidia are a jack of many trades. Bad at etash and cryptonight. Great at almost everything else. If you are diligent, you can keep switching to more profitable coins. Easily 50% more profitable than zcash at times. Also it's super easy to setup. Just some sliders at MSI afterburner.

Do you want a master of 1 algo, or jack of many trades?

Do you prefer plug and play, or is extra work at setting up fine with you?

Are you willing to research and keep switching coins? If yes 1080tis are $5-6 a day.

Also Vega blowers are loud. The right 1080ti is silent.

Thanks for outlining the caveats.

I am a tinkerer kind of guy and have already pulled the trigger on 4*Vega56
It seems like I need to add;
* 4 risers
* PSU
* 120GB ssd for the virtual mem stuff.
* HDMI ghost dongle
* May need more RAM

If the ram requirements renders my 12 Y.O. PC unsuitable, I'll have to source another. But happy to diversify coins / algos in any case.

Have I missed something?

4*Vega56 = 8,000 h/s Cryptonight = $20 per day
4*1070ti = 2,000 sols Equihash = $12 per day

Vega56 destroying 1070ti?

for now yeah vega is a way better buy , but if cryptonight crashes its still as good as a 1070

oh man i feel like a dumbass.......
Someone nicely PM'd me, have you ever tried pressing the button on the board?.....

So i went out and dug out all the parts back out, assembled it quickly on the desk... powered it up.. nothing like i have been dealing with... pressed the little button, immediately everything stops moving, starts moving again and i hear my first audible beep to date...

Now im just waiting to see if its going to boot into windows on the go... been saying getting ready for a while....

If space is not an issue for you, 1070/1070tis are the best. While 1080tis are a beast, the scaling isn't that good in equihash where the large cap coins are.

You can also consider vega56 if they are near MSRP.

They are $423 USD here with free shipping. Is that close to MSRP and what do I mine with them?
How much power draw from 4 * ?

localization table; AU/MSRP
1070ti = $485 / $450 (7.77%)
1080ti = $727 / $699 (4%)
Vega56 = $423 / $400 (5.75%)

they all seem fairly comparable so it just comes down to chasing the same coins (equihash) or diversifying into whatever Vega56 is good at.

---- winter*juvia -----
I have mined and traded well to get to this point. I'm at a bit of a crossroads;

July: built a rig - 2400 sols, mined ZEN
October: built another rig - 4400 sols, mining ZEN/Nicehash
November: traded all holdings to the point where I now have $9,000 USD

So far I have earned roughly 50% from mining and 50% from trading.
I love mining but I also love speculating in stock. I want to expand to another mining rig or an ASIC, but I don't want to liquidate my holdings in long term projects (ZEN/POWR).

What would you do? sit on it or sell and build a rig? I will be able to build two rigs within 3 months as cash is freed up elsewhere.

If I was in your shoes... borrow money (ie bank loan, credit cards etc) - use the mining rigs to pay the monthly installments.

Another thought....

The gain from Bitcoin alone compared to cost of borrowing money is staggering - ie. if you max out a credit card last year and dumped it on BTC, you could have paid off your credit card bill and change many times over.

I know you're not a fortune teller but do you think 2018 will be simialr to 2017 as far as btc increase ?

There is only 1 way to find out...

@martyroz -- since you have a few GPU rigs already.... if I am in your shoes.... try get L3+ or S9s -- diversify your mining operations with ASICs so that you can maximize the spectrum of profitable coins.
