If I was in your shoes... borrow money (ie bank loan, credit cards etc) - use the mining rigs to pay the monthly installments.

Another thought....

The gain from Bitcoin alone compared to cost of borrowing money is staggering - ie. if you max out a credit card last year and dumped it on BTC, you could have paid off your credit card bill and change many times over.

What would you buy? ASIC? or GPU Rigs?
1070ti or 1080ti?

In my country;

1070ti = 485 USD
1080ti = 727 USD

I have a 'PC' ready to go - it's 12 years old but has 4 PCIE slots. I was thinking of pairing it with 4 * 1080ti and a 750W PSU for another 2,000 sols (6,400 total)

I pay 18c for electricity so I am chasing efficiency - I think the 1070ti make more sense.

If space is not an issue for you, 1070/1070tis are the best. While 1080tis are a beast, the scaling isn't that good in equihash where the large cap coins are.

You can also consider vega56 if they are near MSRP.

Phil,
Here's a rough model of your frame,  which has room for one ATX PSU.

The fans represent the radiators.  The fans/radiators could also be mounted horizontally.

Im at a lost with this D1800 board, i cant get it to post for the life of me, ive tried 2 different ram sticks, 5 different GPU's... just nothing... gonna file claim to get my money back, the seller has not responded to my messages in over a week.
...

try redo the sata and molex connections with dedicated cables - you should have 4 sata and 2 perifs on your ATX PSU

do you hear a beep upon power on?

I get zero sound on powerup, just gpu lights/spins up and cpu fans start turning no noise

my guess is it is a shorted board.

not that you did it.

but it may have been a return.

If you put the molex in upside down  the board shorts.

been there done that.

once the board shorts   if you wire it correctly  it then does exactly what you describe.

my second board I wired correctly and it is running 2 1080 ti's and 2 1070's

What do you think about the RAM? it just seems so loose in the connection....did you have issues with installing the RAM?

Also this was my first time inserting anything into it, i made sure the molex was installed correctly on each slot, so i have no clue how it became shorted at all.

That D1800 uses DDR3 Sodimm memory.... pls double check one last time...

Ya the memory im trying to use is
Patriot 1.35V 4GB DDR3 1600MHz PC3-12800 CL11 SODIMM Memory PSD34G1600L2S and Corsair 4GB 1333mhz PC3-10666 204-pin DDR3 SODIMM

I got 10 odna's the b250's  just arrived.

As for the d1800   ddr3 is good not ddr4

Storx if you want to mail it to me in NJ  I could try it out

I owe  1 board with ram and cpu  to one person --------  please pm me  I will ship with an upgrade  as I delayed you

I have to replace a doa board 1 + I  have a buyer for 5   so 6 to the same guy please pm me

 the other 3 I am keeping

I have 50 hours work to do  in the next 24 not going to do it all.

The late board will ship first thing in the morning.  Grin

Don't forget you will be getting back the B250 you sent me Phil.

Thanks I did forget that one.

I think I know what I would like the case to do that you build for me.

I am going to use  7 of the slots  leaving one empty .

I would need a back bar  that will allow 7 water radiators to hang on.

also a mounting bar for the 7  gpus

a base to hold  the psu and mobo.  I will look at you posts as you had something that worked other then needing a back board to hang raditors.

@
rs1x    I will toss in a free cpu cooler and upgrade you on the cpu to a 6500t  and not a 4400t

as the seller cancelled the cpu I ordered.

No worries I got your board to post here it is on simple mining.  using my email

I have mined and traded well to get to this point. I'm at a bit of a crossroads;

July: built a rig - 2400 sols, mined ZEN
October: built another rig - 4400 sols, mining ZEN/Nicehash
November: traded all holdings to the point where I now have $9,000 USD

So far I have earned roughly 50% from mining and 50% from trading.
I love mining but I also love speculating in stock. I want to expand to another mining rig or an ASIC, but I don't want to liquidate my holdings in long term projects (ZEN/POWR).

What would you do? sit on it or sell and build a rig? I will be able to build two rigs within 3 months as cash is freed up elsewhere.

I know you're not a fortune teller but do you think 2018 will be simialr to 2017 as far as btc increase ?

Holy smokes, Batman!
I just realised I got the wrong ram myself for the D1800... Looks like Kingston HyperX 240-pin UDIMM won't cut it... Oh well, guess it's going back to the shop. Will order the correct one now (still waiting for the board anyway...)

EDIT: ok this looks like the correct one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B006YG8X9Y/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&psc=1

I am using these:

Theranos Coin - IoT + micro-blood arrays = Moon!

Familiar with L-4500 and 4000B.  The fans those came with were crap, so no biggie there.  Price seems high -- check Walmart.
Walmart was cheaper than NewEgg on the 4500, believe it or not.

Well, for $271.44 I don't think you can go wrong with any GTX 1070. I haven't seen any 1070s that low before, even back in the Spring months. That should be a fairly quick roi for you.

Yikes, this was an impulse buy.

I just bought 4 of these for $348 CDN ( $271.44 USD):

ASUS GeForce GTX 1070 8GB ROG STRIX Graphic Card (STRIX-GTX1070-8G-GAMING)

https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B01HEQYQHA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

There were 17 .. but all gone within minutes.

Hope they're good.

And... all 5 brands of Vega 56 now out of stock at NewEgg.  Luckily I got 3 of them in the last week for avg cost of about $430.  Now debating on whether to sell them for profit (assuming the shortage continues) or try to scramble and find 1 more to upgrade my 6x 470 rig with.
