I believe skills > luck
Why ? yes if you trade on yobit new adds it is based on luck
But if it comes to more serious coin trades it is skills , learn & recognize good & bad news, read the charts , and have know how to enter / exit
The only reason you may need luck is to read the news first !  Grin

I think it's both skills and luck because if you have those two it will be easy for you to earn money. It's bad if you are just relying on luck and just doing some random pick for the coin to just find the right coin.

You have no control over Luck but you have full control on skill. So if you develop your skills, the more likely are the chances that luck will be with you. This is what i belief.

Trading has similarities with gambling since it requires both skills and sometimes pure luck. Those lucky people who back in 2008 has bought about 10k BTC are the millionaires today. In our local currency they are the rich people who were lucky. However skills come into play when market becomes predictable. Hence both are important in profitable trading.

If they bought 10k of bitcoins I will not call these people lucky, they saw the potential of bitcoin and made an informed decision that paid off big time, but to me that is not being lucky, that is being an astute investor.

There are lucky indeed because even those  investors didnt expect that bitcoin would last  of these days as of now and  the price goes higher. Lucky indeed  and  they are early adopters  and  the rewards is so good on keeping those coins for  long time for sure.
I suppose we have different definitions of being lucky, an investor that put a lot of money into bitcoin back in the day when bitcoin was more of an experiment than anything else were not lucky, they were investors with a great eye for the investment of the decade.

I think it is better to have them both because if you have skills and you dont have luck i think you can not make a good profit in gambling or trading any related in money. so for me it is better to have both them,

I agree having both the skill and luck will surely make sure you will gain the profit.  There are scenario where skill has no effect, no matter how skillful you are in trading or how well verse you are in reading charts and candlesticks.  One of such example is altcoin trading where luck prevails more than skill. Unless you are the one doing the pump Cheesy

Skills definitely! I tried with luck and I didn't made profit. Information is worth a lot in this times, and people who have it, or know how to acquire one can make good money on different market's.
Market with altcoins is the same thing, people who know developers, teams, people who are in that circle have more knowledge about potential good or scam coins. They use that knowledge and make money. With time they get skilled in predictions, thats is why I think skill affect on trading more then just luck.
You only use luck in gambling but if you are in the business or investment venture, skills is really necessary as what we are aiming here is to earn consistent money and luck cannot provide that to us, with skills everything would be easy and you have a good eye on any investment that would give you an adavantage.

For those that have the skill, there is the occasional burst of luck.  You can invest in something, knowing that there is a good chance it will rise in value, hedge that investment with a few others and slowly make money.  However, while doing that, sometimes out of your group of slowly rising coins, a single coin will shoot through the roof overnight and that is when luck has shown upon you.

Definitely both.
I'd say 50% for luck: opportunity to buy when extremely low, and for coin value to go up up up.
Then another 50% for skill: taking the opportunity to buy when low, and then knowing when to sell.
+1 your answer is very true and relevant comparing with the another answer, both of them is having them a role. 50:50.
Well that's depends on their experiences which everythings answer is all true there are no wrong answer.
A good timing i think luck don't exist on that part that you bought at high or low price it is based on analytical knowledge that it is up to you when to buy or sell Skill have a big part of it ,skills include attitude the patience of waiting the right time . That's what ive learned its all not about 50% luck i think 80% skill and 20% luck exist for this matter.

good point of view and if you applied this for sure you will able to earn more profits timing to use your luck and skills.

The right timing. Yes you got that right. Many of us are spending too much time in monitoring the bitcoin price. But there are people that can open it just for a minute. It takes a high luck for you to be exactly there when the price fluctuation happens.

It is just some time that I told myself I am lucky. That is the time when I saw bitcoin price at very high price then I exchange it. After that it goes back to a lower price giving me again the chance to buy.

That only took like 15 minutes and I told myself I am lucky for suddenly opening the exchange rate website.

There it is. Luck with the combination of skill to decide.

Thats why i choose Both option on the Poll selection since i strongly believe that these two things need each other when you do trading since if luck would be lacking  maybe those skills wont  work no matter  how hard you trade and analyze and you cant also rely on luck itself  if you dont have enough skills because you would waste that luck if you dont know how to trade.

Perhaps you both need it and trading skills and luck . Because trading is full of wisdom so you need skills here to learn how to be a great traders . And we also need luck because the trading is like gambling, we need to have luck to buy our altcoins or bitcoin need luck with us because of it depends on our having a profitable trading .

yes both skill and luck are very important imo too. you need the skill to get anywhere at all but when the moments there luck can beat you or help you. so luck is like the finisher to what you need skill for, this is why i dont like these kind of things like trading cause theres alot of ways to lose no matter how good you are.
Yeah , even the coins is reputable and trustworthy but has a chance for scam or become dead coins.
Doesn't matter how good/experience your are , you'll beat up with lucky thing << you must consider it.

Anyone could see a few years back that the "cash for gold" craze was a money maker.  The key to something like that is knowing when to get out.

A shrewd investor might have spotted the tale tell signs that one was going for the top and the other not, but a good investor would have picked both for the long term haul and the fact that the stocks were low on both back then, had a boat load of cash right now, despite the fact that they had invested in the other company also.

It is both really, but most of it comes from the side of skill.  Years ago there were two companies that were edging each other out and fighting for position.  One was Walmart and the other was called Pharmore.
