Say BYE to tobacco taxes and bureaucratized trade.
Other than the lack of any mention of Bitcoin, it would seem you're on the hook to refund.

Your last quote is spot on!

"Our 100% Money Back Guarantee covers this and we will return your money back in full in case we receive a refused package back."

We didn't receive anything back in Shadow383's case, as the cigarettes were destroyed (as mentioned in the Customs Seizure letter he received).

Plus to that, if you read our Terms and Conditions, you will see the following:

"Cigs.eu refunds its customers only after receiving the returned orders back. We cannot be held responsible for the orders destroyed or lost by the customs house on the territory of the customer's country."

I hope this helps shed some light on the situation.

I am responding, and you didn't "lose" the BTC, it was on your own risk as you were aware of the likelihood of a seizure.

This would be a little problematic. From your original post in your thread:

Smokers, rejoice! Cigs.eu now accepts Bitcoins! We ship cigarettes from Eastern Europe and guarantee worldwide delivery!

From your money_back_guarantee page linked in that post:

Quote
Concerning the delivery, every country has its postal regulations that allow the buyer to refuse the delivered package and return it to the sender free of charge. Our 100% Money Back Guarantee covers this and we will return your money back in full in case we receive a refused package back. We cannot guarantee that import duty taxes will not be charged in every country. In cases when payment of duty taxes is requested, the buyer is always free to reject the order and ask for his/her money back. Money will be credited to the credit/debit card used to purchase goods on our website as soon as we receive the refused package back.

Other than the lack of any mention of Bitcoin, it would seem you're on the hook to refund.

Any answer?

PM sent, problem solved.

Any news on what shipping is like to the UK now?

No good. We will update once (and if) the situation gets better with shipping to UK.

Don't even try. I lost 21.9BTC on an order and hoki's no longer responding to my contact requests.

Hello everybody! All emails responded. I am extremely sorry for the delay - we've got an insane number of incoming emails combined with some family stuff going on, but now we're going full speed.

Also, the British seizure rate went pretty high up, so it is better to abstain from ordering if you're from the UK for now. We can only refund 50% if you show us proof of seizure, so order at your own risk!

Good luck!
If you actually get the guy to respond to the support email can you ask him to come on here and tell me what they're doing about my 21BTC order that seems to have vanished into the abyss?

Responded. I am sure we can figure something out, as you're a repeat customer and received your previous order fine.

My girlfriend had one stopped at customs. Was shipped on June 1 was arrived at customs office 2 days ago. lol
They say they want a receipt. Yeah, right Tongue

Yes, we would need a receipt before we can issue a refund. Why didn't you contact me directly about this? Let me know if the issue got sorted out.

There seems to be a bug in your bitcoinaddress system. I recently did 2 orders right after each other, and i got the same payment address for both the orders. I didn't really think about it so i paid for both orders to the same address, and now the last order is gone. Kinda annoying considering i've actually paid for both orders

It happened again today when i tried making 2 orders right after each other and got the same payment address for both the orders. Sent you an e-mail about this on your supportmail by the way! And i can still really vouch for cigs.eu, this is the first time i've ever had any problems with them after about 10 orders Smiley

Julia looked into it and couldn't find the second payment. Let me look into this and I will get back to you asap - normally we should have received it.

I waited a couple of weeks and got no cigs, they told me to wait 35 business days, I waited that long, no cigs, sent them a couple of emails, got a PM back 3 days ago saying they would respond to my email soon, yet no response as of yet.

I'm out 21BTC as well and have been waiting since April, its pretty ridiculous. All I wanted to do was smoke a few cigarettes, lol!

I have personally responded to your email and haven't heard back from you. Maybe that's because of the questions I'm asking? I have just tried again, let me know if you received it.

Any answer?

If anyone is still ordering from CIGS.EU I would like to bring something to their attention.

I ordered 1 box of Marlboro Gold about a week ago, I've not received it yet and I'm not expecting it to come in this time range, that's not what I'm here to say.

Check your invoices.  My invoice has been totalled incorrectly, and an amount equal to the total of my incorrectly totalled invoice PLUS £1 was charged to my account.  Detailed below.

Do you have an explanation for this Hoki?  Even with these additions the cigarettes are still cheap, but this shows possibly massive incompetence and a untrustworthy business.

It was £21.55 for the cigs and then £7.15 for postage, in my maths, and the same maths used by the entire world, that equals £28.70.  It was totalled to £28.71?

Then, it was £29.71 that was removed from my account.

You may say its only a 1p miscalculation and a unaccounted £1.01 overcharge, however, to me atleast, it seems it's small enough to go unnoticed by most, if he generates a high volume or customers, this extra revenue will amount to a large amount.

Explanations?

Solved the mystery of the missing order finally  Grin

Two customs seizures in a row  Undecided  Got the letters handed to me today by my neighbour. Have emailed hoki both letters, at the time of the order cigs.eu still had a full reship policy for the UK but obviously it'd be crazy to do so now so hopefully we can work something else out, guess I'll be taking a fairly big hit on this one but that's life  Roll Eyes

Advice to potential UK buyers - wait until after the olympics when they send all the current customs temps home  Wink

Yep, all good Smiley We link payments to specific orders, and you placed only one (but sent two payments). All sorted out, thanks for being a repeat customer!

Thanks alot Smiley Excellent service makes me happy! He sent me a new carton without being 100% sure i actually sent the repeat payments. Just want to stress that cigs.eu is very legit, and this is honestly the first time i've had any problems with an order (which he solved in a very pleasing manner)!

Yeah, UK customs have been a complete pain, so I can understand that! I've had a bunch of stuff on its way to me on valuations of like $30-50 and it's ALL been stopped lately.
Apparently it has something to do with the olympics, although I'm not sure why that would necessitate customs searches...

A couple of pages ago you said the first two cartons had been shipped - any chance you could ship the third carton from the order to a different address? I think it's possible my usual address now flags in the database given the amount of customs charges I've been subject to lately.

As for proof of seizure - my mail to my normal address is getting forwarded by Royal Mail to where I am currently, but I'll be back there briefly next week and I'll see if anything has not been passed on properly.

Cheers for finally coming back to the thread!

I think you are misunderstanding. The customs office says they want a receipt so they can charge me the tax. If I don't send them the receipt, or in this case my girlfriend, they'll just return it to the sender.
I can mail you a copy of the letter we got from the customs office. It's in portuguese, not sure if it will be of much use to you.
We can wait for this carton to go back to you and for you to reship it as we're waiting for another order already.

Possible, but I'd expect to have heard from customs by now - It's happened to me before importing spirits and I got a customs letter about a week after the seizure. Seven weeks after the order shipped I'd expect to have heard something.

Either way - communication is key!

What did they tell you when they seized the liquor?
They gave me a letter with the tracking number of the package and a note on why it was seized (A combination of no UK safety labels etc + high thujone content).

The OP last posted more than a month ago, hasn't answered any of the people in here who've not received deliveries, has anyone actually heard from the guy since May?

Excise Duty is payable on goods such as alcohol or tobacco. It is the responsibility of the online seller to ensure that UK Excise Duty is paid before they send you the goods. You should therefore expect the price you pay to reflect the payment of UK duty - if the price is very low, UK duty has probably not been paid.

In addition, cigarettes and hand rolling tobacco must bear UK health warnings and fiscal marks, and containers of spirits that are larger than 35cl must bear a UK duty stamp.

If the online retailer you're buying the goods from does not pay UK Excise Duty before they send them to you, or the goods do not bear the relevant UK markings or warnings, the goods can be seized by customs on arrival in the UK, and you may not be able to get a refund on their value. It's therefore a good idea to check with the retailer that all these requirements have been met.

Maybe customs just seized them because they lack UK health warnings and the UK Excise Duty wasn't paid before hand?
