anyone know if there is an actual limit of usb devices per computer?   could I run 4 of these hubs connected to just 1 pc?

127 devices per USB controller including the hub etc. is the limit.

Think. Positive. Thoughts.
What about overclocked BEs, how much current does this hub provide per USB port?

I have 5 left, working today but I'll be watching the address. I will update when they are sold out. I still haven't gotten a chance to open one up yet but I have asked friedcat for clarification on which pins are being used. I'll let you know when I get more info.

unless you find an older psu most quality modern psu's will run 40 of the 49 sticks.

I have a shitload of psu's on hand from my gpu mining days.

I will test   all my psu's:

 seasonic platinum 1000 watt
 seasonic platinum  760 watt
 seasonic      gold   650 watt
 corsair        gold   650 watt
 nxzt        bronze   650 watt
 OCZ        bronze   550 watt

I will test each one for a day at 40 sticks 45 sticks 49 sticks and let you all know what I get.  This means more then a week of testing

I have an older psu it is 1000 watt   can't remember the name but it is a 2008 model  My guess is it will be the best of all.

I doubt that any of these psu's will like running 49 sticks 24/7  since most  rated at  25 amp 5volt

crazy guy said he will ship to me today.   I will test the cheap psu's first since most of us would want to use an under 100 dollar psu not a 100 dollar plus one.

I haven't had time to open one up yet to see what pins are being used, but just eyeballing it I don't see any transformers in line. I'm guessing it's using the 5v pins.

Damn, that is a shame. Why can't any USB hub manufacturer make a large hub that natively uses 12v, or has raw leads for dedicated 5v power supplies?

More likely to be direct DC regulators like this than transformers.

Is this powered by 12v or 5v? This is important. Most modern power supplies don't supply any more than 80-120 watts on 5v, even crazy powerful ones like corsair ax1200 or lepa 1600. If this is powered by 12v, that is much better, but still limiting because the hubs requires an atx24 pin connector instead of one of the much more available molex/sata/pci-e connectors.

USB is 5V almost certainly the unit isn't doing 100W+ 12V to 5V conversion so it is powered by the 5V pins on ATX connector.

I have 10 port hubs that come with a 12v @ 5 amp power brick, so I don't think it would be unheard of for such a large hub to downscale 12v to 5v.

Being stuck at 5v input is a shame. Will need to buy multiple ATX power supplies instead of just a single one to run multiple hubs :/
