I don't? That's just dumb. Analyzing itself is already tedious at times, forcing yourself to do it on a sport you don't like (and probably don't even know jack about) just sounds dumb. Granted if I, for some particular, weird reason, kept winning on just guessing, I guess I still would. No analysis, none of that knowing stuff, just randomly guessing. If that's what's going to happen hell yeah I'm going to bet about it, even if it was ants racing each other.

And I don't think popularity equates to bigger chances of winning. I reckon you can argue that the more unknown the sport, the more unknown the player, hence the higher chances of new teams winning but that doesn't really equate to you having higher chances of winning.

this leads me to thinking whether do people bet on sports they do not enjoy or are not a fan of? maybe there are people out there who are just really in for the money and they would bet on sports that are popular and they have a bigger chance on winning at even if they do not particularly enjoy them

Is there such thing that popular sports gives better odds?

personally i can't imagine having to sit and watch and analyze countless of matches of a sport i do not enjoy watching just to bet on them

If someone bets on sports they have no idea of, it's unlikely that they would sit and analyze matches either.

what about you?

I don't bet on sports I don't have idea of and as matter of fact, I only watch cricket, and it has matches going on all the time.

During the last world cup someone here raised this type of topic. It was something that was on the minds of most people who are sports lovers and love to bet. There is this short clip from a South-African who when he was interviewed said he bet against his country (I think this was during the Nations cup, I am not too sure now). Being a fan of a club is about emotions betting is about logic. If you mix up the both of them, you'll lose money.
If I am not mistakenly I came across that same post as well but can find the topic anymore. Look, we are the people mixing up everything and make gambling looks so hard or difficult to our understanding and the we take it lightly the more we understand gambling the more. For instance if we remove emotions and gamble based on a solid state there will be no much lost but if we gambles giving much priorities to our clubs then we are creating an easy part of falling so quickly while doing sports betting.

Being popular does not increase the chances of winning

You need to have an interest in a sport to be able to proper research on them. Checking odds and form helps, but understanding how they play after watching their recent games, how their opponent plays, history behind that fixture and other factors helps you interpret the stats and data available.

I watch basketball most of the time, preferably in the NBA. I do enjoy watching the game more when I have money on the line and yes, even if I am not a fan of that team, as long as I made a bet for them then I will cheer for them or call them stupid when they make foolish mistakes that would ruin my bet especially if it's a parlay. Cheesy
That is the spice that gambling can bring for me and I do watch 2-3 games per day (if available) because I enjoy the sport more than being a fan of just one team. I have been a basketball fan since I was a kid so I don't think the enjoyment part will vanish but I just like to upgrade it by putting a bet on the team that I think will win.

The answer is yes. There are many people that bet on sports they do not enjoy, but just to take the risk and make the money. Most times these games are games predicted by a friend who is a fan of that game, they will ask their friend to send their booking code and such game will be reprinted and they might win along with their friends .

Actually I am not a regular watcher of sports and I bet on most games I am not familiar with. Sometime I pick those games as my instincts tell me to and I win some times and lose most times.

I only make my small bets on sports that I like or follow, I don't see any point in betting on something that I don't like, playing just for the sake of playing there are much better options, because betting on something that you don't follow becomes just a "spin of the roulette"... so it's better to go to the casino actually, right?

For me there are two things involved..
If I am staking money for the match or game, I will be strict on my money giving winning to those whom I think would win that match. This is money conscious it doesn't matter whether I watch the game or not what matters is my winning to come through. Secondly, if I gamble to have fun, for instance I want to sit and watch the game I will still give winning to those whom I think would win the match but if I want to be on neutral ground without staking or involving my money I will still fan my team and be happy for them to win the match and I will still sit to watch them. The concern here is the money involved and when spending money I am strict to whom to win and not to win be it my favorite clubs or team.

For me it's a hard no to betting on sports I don’t enjoy. Just think about sitting for hours feeling bored with what you’re watching and then analyzing possible outcomes just to win there’s no fun in that it feels more like a chore. I think it’s important to stay connected to what you truly enjoy because that keeps the experience fulfilling and not purely transactional. I want to enjoy the process fully. But when I was new to sports betting I actually tried betting on sports I didn’t enjoy so it was purely for financial reasons. But now I don’t do that anymore.

Imo, you must not sitdown to watch the game you play live, it's your choice. Like I could not remember when last I sitdown to watch on the game I bet because most times I don't have that opportunity to watch the whole games live. It's not about the money you win, when you are entertained properly through the sport you watch live, even though you win or you lose you will not feel bad because you are not there for the money and since you are not betting for the winning, when you lose you won't be bothered emotionally depressed to chase your loss.

I would ask it more tricky, name most boring and low entertaining to watch sports, and would you bet on it if the odds were good. And would you even watch the event? I never liked speed walking. Hard to name anything that would less boring to watch. Look at the windows every morning and you will see speed walkers on the way to work. Or everyone one of us is a speed walker when he needs to visit WC. Nothing extraordinary in watching speed walkers, as we see them everyday. Recreational fishing is also a fun killer. You look at the bobber and wait. And wait. And wait. If such sports were among sportsbook, I would never watch or bet.

For me personally, I also prefer to bet on my favorite team, so when my favorite team wins I will feel happier than just watching, and of course that makes me more intense to pay attention to the match, because it is clear that we really know the course of the match, unlike when watching a sports match on a sport that we don't like.

Regarding betting on sports that are not popular, I think it is true that many people out there only risk their luck just to make money,
and I think that is the beginning of greed and may fall into addiction. I have tried that, but all there is is boredom, because I don't really enjoy the game, so in the end I prefer to bet while enjoying the sport as I said.

Isn't it obvious though? I mean why would you bet on the sports that you don't like? Even if there are like people around you who watch let's say NBA, but you don't have any interest on it because you don't find it entertaining like football games.

So just like you said, I would not spend hours and hours watching those kind of sports that don't interest me. With that, I wouldn't even spend a single sat just to gamble and see how it goes for me.

When you are doing it for the money then you can, the most important thing for a gambler is to win so if he has the assurance of winning the bet he will risk it, and mind you, you can bet on a game you don't watch and is not a must to follow up with the games if you don't enjoy the game. For example, I bet on basketball despite the fact that I don't watch it, all that I need is information about the team and players.

Most people that are gambling gamble for money. But some do not do it to the point of getting addicted. They know that they should not be stupid by not spending more money on gambling.

Even when I bet, I do not like losing. If I lose, this can discourage me not to gamble for some days or even weeks. Especially if I use more than 1% of my income.

I also bet on leagues that I do not watch. I do not bet quite often because I know I can not make money from it but I do not want to lose anytime I bet.

i am a sports fan before i am a gambler i watch sports and i bet on my predictions to amplify the entertainment and enjoyment i get from that sports i could not bet while watching a sport but it is always much more fun to look forward to the results knowing especially that you might win in the end so if your favorite team wins you are happy as a fan but you can be happier if you also win some money from betting on them

this leads me to thinking whether do people bet on sports they do not enjoy or are not a fan of? maybe there are people out there who are just really in for the money and they would bet on sports that are popular and they have a bigger chance on winning at even if they do not particularly enjoy them
