Congratulations to the winners!!

I was climbing back up too slow, and the final result, I needed 3 points to have hope, I think anyone who got 3 points however way would have won something. Nice one on you darxiaomi you are enjoying such amazing luck this week. Big freebet win in SB ANN thread, big victory in BSFL and final day drama for AFCON.

It was nice guys, can't believe this is our 2nd AFCON together, see you in a few years hopefully, thank you to Sponsors once more and organizers. This was a great tournament to participate in.

buwaytress, congrats on a overall win
needed that goal from Ivory Coast to retain 2nd place, and happy with it (although that goal brought me a lose in BSFL round)

trofo, I will send my BTC and Tron addresses later today, since I am eligible for rewards in both categories

nevertheless, after podium in last AFCON (won a t-shirt then), now another podium on AFCON, seems that I am good in predicting upsets in African tournaments

once more, congrats to all that got rewards

Congratulations buwatress - I underestimated you again. Well deserved.

That was a terrible clutch performance from all of us at the top. I went Nigeria 1-0, and I saw all of us did the same for both games. Have to say it was our luck results didn't go as expected, so no one took advantage. Happy for this unexpected win, offsets all the other pools, and probably gives me an early bag of participation fees for next season -- if I don't gamble it all away first! Nice to see representation from the continent in the top 5 of AFCON. Proves you guys know a thing or two... Cote d'Ivoire proves hosts are a good bet for outright, huh?

Wooooooooooooooooo hohohohoho lets go, what a "recover" in the last game taking the 5 position. I thinked more people are gonna support ivory coas, but better for me  Grin .

South Africa and them took the game all the way, both deserved what they got in the end, the Senegal Egypt tactic of sitting back for penalties like last AFCON didn't work.

It was really sad for me that Nigeria lost the chance of winning the cup after reaching the finale. The AFCON in this year was already full of disappointments for me.It was really very interesting to see buwaytress winning a contest as well. Congratulations bro. You deserved it all the way!!!

Ouch man, yeah I was really hoping Nigeria would win for your outright, I stayed away from betting most of this tournament, and when I did, I lost, so winning this pool is pretty damned sweet. See you guys in 2025 in Morocco!

I knew defending 5th would be difficult, and I got both games wrong.
I needed any Nigeria win other than 1-0 to still make it, but Nigeria didn't deserve anything from the game yesterday - they were blown off the pitch.

I'm really happy for Haller - it is a great story with everything he's gone through. He scored the winning goals both in the SF and in the final, and for yesterday's goal it takes incredible skill (and some luck, of course) to do.

Congrats to all the winners, see you in the next one.

Never underestimate the power of the best losers; this could be the story of Portugal's Euro adventure. I believe Ivory Coast has a strong chance of winning the title.

Yes man it was like that, you and me were the two supporting that idea, i remain faithful to that and put them to win.

Congratulations to the other winners , enjoy your gains, i see you in the other tournaments.

It was written in the sky - The power of second chance is always the greatest, deep down I knew how it was going to end but I was afraid to back it up. Odd was around 15-20 after their last group stage game.

I've never seen Nigeria play this awful since the start of the tournament. The best team won.

Congratulations buwatress - I underestimated you again. Well deserved.

@trofo - address to be sent tomorrow.

Last night was unnecessarily tense, and having watched most of it (bad connection means I lost about 10 minutes each half during drinks break for some reason), I'm really glad there was no ET to play. Some cool direct football but it was really more of the same since KOs: lob the ball up and try chest it down to run past and cross, and try from far.

Felt smart for backing S Africa and they really needed to have done better with their chances, DRC's attempts were much more direct, no goalie respecting himself would have feared those attempts.

CLS63: I'm rooting for you and your outright win, but mainly, rooting for myself. Surely we can't be expecting another shootout in the final?

Only a few of us predicted draws, which makes sense because 3rd placed matches usually are all about goals but we all got tricked by both sides blehs

So the top spots seemed not to move at all, all of you mostly picked wins for either team. I really needed the draw to happen to have a hope of 5th place but 1.5 points doesn't look like it's gonna be enough. Abii instead did very well and won a prize I believe as the gap to 4th is too big. Who's Abii here?

It is weird to not give the 3rd place team any extra bonus if you have a match between the two losing semi finalists to determine who comes third. I have not looked keenly into other knockout tournaments, maybe it could be a norm around the grounds.

I still see the first teams of both sides starting. The money is not the major motivation for the players and they still get their regular match bonuses for their performances.

So no extra prize money for 3rd place, I didn't realize this. In this case there absolutely is no gain or no loss from risk. I'm beginning to think 3-2 is now the best answer in this coming game, but I'm sticking with my weird draw result. Not so much because I think both sides will be too careful but because in their risk free attitude you also need good finishers.

I locked my pick anyway and checked the results others put in, only 1 person predicted 3-2 Wink

With the last games of the AFCON to come, we certainly should see some change in position's for those close to 10th position, and personally after having a bad run from the semi finals only because Nigeria $@#&@ my perfect score to take the game to penalties, am now just a spectator that's is looking forward for this competition to end and we get back to champions league football or something for some  real action Roll Eyes

Btw, was looking into the prize money involved for the competition and was disappointed to find no mention of any incentives for being 3rd, and if this is the case expect the big names not to play tomorrow and probably it will be goals galore #GG

Don't worry, I'm a big bottler, but here's a clue: I'm going to choose majority pick. Nigeria win is the safest bet for the final. And so's DRC. Ready to follow me boys?
Something tells me that you already have some insider gossip but are leading us down the most obvious direction so you gain lots of points on the rest of us, or at least those still in a running for a reward slot.

this does seem as safest pick, it is just a matter of correct score, isn't it Smiley
dough, still not sure about final match

Hahah what a bottler. Losing the league on the final day must be hard.

it is happening to everyone, wouldn't say he is a bottler, and especially not as Arsenal
he is Liverpool fan after all, if Liverpool repeat same bottle this season in EPL, as Arsenal last season, maybe there is a coincidence

You are right. I didn't read the other subject. I might be wrong because of this. However you wrote like this here. Was this like a good luck charm? Cheesy

I don't think we'll win this one.

This was my pre-match conference analysis.I clearly stated that if our first choice GK starts, we have no chance; he is worse than Onana, but after the first game, when I saw the Nwabali guy ( 3rd choice), I have never doubted them since. The former Nigeria first-choice goalkeeper is without a doubt the worst in Africa; we missed out on World Cup and the last AFCON because of his mistakes.

You're welcome on board - keep supporting  Grin

...and the last thing the Super Eagles want is to feel superior going into the game, because that also could mean losing sight of their game plan.
You definitely do not want to underrate your opponents before a final, but you would not want to overate them either. I have watched good teams not play up to their normal standards because they are overthinking the fact that it is a final and they need to be very careful.

Smiley I'm still hoping to see him stay in Napoli one more season, but I have a strong feeling in July he moves across to England, we'll see of course, but winning AFCON will definitely put his price tag up even higher Wink
Arsenal will welcome him with open arms.

not sure what Division you mean, but regarding BSFL Div1, he actually lost it in final rounds, and CLS63 was a Champion

I became the champion by getting past buwaytress on the final week last season. However this wasn't a surprise for me. I knew that he would lose on the final weeks. As I forgot about making predictions against him this year I lost 4 points and maybe this cost me the championship.  Cry

I'm sorry bro but Nigeria continued on their journey in the cup tonight. I assume that the only person who has believed in Nigeria on the forum has been me since the beginning of AFCON. Even though the defense line isn't comprised of much quality players Nigeria squad absolutely have the quality to win the cup. And I must admit that I'm surprised with that.

Man, stop assuming dreams! You can't be the only one that believes in us more than Nigerians; you're not alone, and you haven't read the other AFCON general thread yet. I expected Nigeria to win the trophy from the start of the tournament.  But keep supporting us; we need all of your luck and support to win the final.  Grin
