WTF!!!! MAN, i check the result and i see a destroy 4-0 totally unexpected, what a shame from Ivory Coast. One of the better teams in the whole tournament in term of names, very big names in the team.

And congratulations to the only country in Africa who speak Spanish for making this amazing and historical win.

Ivory Coast really have the work cut out for them now. It would be very disappointing if the hosts go out in the group stages of the tournament. Although even with a loss, they could still qualify among the top 4 third placed side, but would still be disappointing for the tournament hosts.

Doesn't count, same as Audi cup for Spurs and Kane. You win competition without rewards, which nobody even knew was being played and than brag about it. Just proves my point  Grin

Why would someone care about a competition in which they were eliminated in the early stages? To make it worse, I knocked you out of the cup fixtures and went on to win against a pool of 40+. If this is not deserving of the title "The GOAT," I'm not sure what else I could possibly do.

I'm also having a small prized-positioned chase on Igehhhh, I'm not going to say I'm very optimistic, however, Ironically we both still have a tie to settle as we both reached the cup finals, but I'm sure it's going to be an entertaining match-up as it has always been between myself and igehhh.

GW3 of AFCON starting today, should be fun and I expect us to loose some favourites soon.

I trust you not to back out like Trofo did the last time we had a side bet. It's been months, and he has yet to acknowledge me as "The GOAT" as we agreed. Trofo is a chicken.
I wanted to, but you are making it incredibly though. What was it again your only BSFL achievement in 3 seasons? Relegation. Real GOAT stuff  Grin

I would even give it to you in some pool like Fantasy or Superbru ones. Even organised AFCON so that you are on your home turf and have all possible advantages and you can't even break into the money positions. Give me something to work with man  Grin

Yeah, I deserve the relegation for being inconsistent; you can't continually missing GW and not be dropped. Impossible. ( I gave you free 3 points last week)

The only reason you're a few points ahead of me in the EPL pool is because I missed all of Round 20, but no matter how terrible things go, I'll always beat your ass at the end of the season.

AFCON is unpredictable stuff; I got 15 points in round one and just 6 points in round two. Lol

Are you on this or you chickened out! Your guy came in the second half. Told you he's not a starter in the Algeria team.

Hang on to your panties, me chicken out against naughty Sheriff? I freely give away losing bets all the time. I eat losses fro breakfast haha. 1mbtc to you, please DM me your address, my man. Amoura only played one half, but no excuse, I still thought he'd be dynamic enough to score. Algeria, Morocco, Egypt, they're managing to score many more goals than last edition but different route to the same destination -- few wins to show for all their efforts.

Your guy will score under 1.5 goal in the tournament for 2mBtc?

You guys want to be kind to me and accept that a book would void this if he didn't even have a chance to play? Or you want to carry it forward to Algeria's next game vs Burkina Faso on Saturday?
Agreed on my side.

Cape Verde showing everyone they're not here by luck, huh? But Senegal look like they're proper ready to defend. I think we're not halfway through but already more goals than last edition's entire group stage.
Games look entertaining on paper but everything I have seen so far was really poor quality. Did not watch much but even goals I have seen were a result of big goal keeper errors or total defensive blunders. Maybe I am just unlucky, will try to watch some games in knockout stages when we have only "strong" teams.

Round 1 is over and with it my knack of getting points in the pool. Has been fun, now on my way to the bottom as usual  Grin

Only watched the RSA game almost full match, bits here and there, same impression. Overall not very bad, that particular game, entertaining in the sense they were really just putting the ball forward a lot, but defending was like 1990s England. See the ball, kick it away, no sweeping action in general, my modern brain prefers to see that.

Back in AFC, I watched the latest Japan game, it wasn't superb either but it felt much more entertaining. First half was all Middle Eastern strength and height advantage, muscling every ball, then Japan finally got their flanking action right in second half and it was just overrunning their opponents, very slick above-ground passing, just very brainy passages of play.

I then watched Bahrain-Malaysia and it was hard to use it as a comparison as Malaysia are probably the weakest team in the tourney... and played like it. Nervous all around for most of the match but it still looked a bit more active than AFCON. Harder running, slightly more trickery, but well, shit is shit.

Hard to defend AFC on this forum though. It was a ghost town in the thread I opened.

I just saw you're not top anymore Trofo but so so few points separating Top 10. Mali already scoring one so we're definitely being tempted to go overs or BTTS on this AFCON.

Who else has noticed that there have been little to no complaints or drama on the officiating of the tournament? VAR has worked as expected and there has been consistency in the application of the rules. I do hope the tournament continues and ends with more of the same.

So we already have one big out of the competition, we only need to know his name, but Egypt or Ghana is gonna be out with this magnificent start made by Cabo Verde. I saw the first goal of Cabo Verde made by Bebe, strong shot yes, good one? NO, 90% of the goal was made by the goalkepeer poor reaction. THe shot was just in the middle.

Gambia is out in other news, not so powerfull team, but they have some good players like Musa Barrow.

Salah is faking injury as usual - some random stats marchants compared him to Prime Hazard because he scores so many goals. Those who truly watch the game know the truth.

If you're felling down just remember that Kudus was offered to Man united for €35m but they turned t down and bought Antony for €100m

Doesn't strike me as a guy who walks off when he hasn't scored -- if anything he's so singular he wants to break records while he's still able to. I'm biased though so my opinion doesn't count. Ghana deserved it. Kudus goals alone are the highlight of AFCON that I've seen! Antony, man, I can't get over the nonsense spinning he did early on, snorted saliva up my own nose seeing that.

Oh, need to share this goal celebration from a hattrick hero in AFCON. Oldest to do it! https://twitter.com/beinsports_FR/status/1748014188746727451

Congrats to el che, casperBGD and Trofo for winning the Round 1 Yellow Cap
Congrats guys. The only way for me right now is up really.

It's just the way they play and I feel that many of these players are scared to have injuries before the end of AFCON and then only to return to their various clubs to sit on the bench because of injury sustained during the AFCON tournament.
Injuries can happen anytime and the players should be aware of that. A lot of them are passionate about playing for their national team and should relish the moment they get.

I watched parts of Ivory Coast - Nigeria game today and it was hands down the worst football I watched in a long long time. So many poor passes, bad touches...and these are supposed to be two good teams.

Maybe I just watched wrong parts of if the match but this was several levels lower than Croatian national league which is bad.

Really hope next one I try will be better oterwise I don't think I will give AFCON another chance. Maybe I am just salty since I had both to score in it  Grin

Lol. Two reputed African superpowers performing like Wednesday night football teams: Ivory Coast was awful at defending, and Nigeria was dreadful at finishing. The prizes we offer to goal scorers are killing our teamwork because everyone wants to score and take home the prizes. CAF must improve; host nations cannot host tournaments during the Hamattan season on such poor fields.

The second half was not wholly horrible, but it was not worth the hype since the country's level had dropped so dramatically. The Ivorians are one of our main rivals, and we all remember how things used to be. Drogba and Mikel days.

I can't say it's due to the standard of pitch that makes many Nigerian players play lackluster football when they could have easily made a great finish to increase their scoreline after 90'. It's just the way they play and I feel that many of these players are scared to have injuries before the end of AFCON and then only to return to their various clubs to sit on the bench because of injury sustained during the AFCON tournament.
Still, I rate the Ghana vs Egypt match as one of the best and most interesting match to have been played in the ongoing tournament.

Did anyone catch Cape Verde's opening goal? This went straight in from like 40 yards, sheesh! Juninho vibes.

The Mozambique Goalkeeper was very awful to say the very least, just a few minutes before that goal Bebe have had one shot struck the crossbar from almost an equal distance and that didn't serve as an enough warning strike for the goalkeeper, the ball was coming straight to him and he looked completely clueless, and then there was the third goal too from a long range as well, I'd be very surprised if he remains the no. 1 choice for their final group fixture.
Not to take anything away from the wonderful strike, though, I think the third was quite better, tbh.
