I almost bottled it early too, After the first semi went 1-1, I was struggling to change the second to 0-0. Thankfully. My initial picks was 2-0 for both games (I was thinking about extra time).

I've entered picks but I'm keeping an eye on news/odds, it's impossible that 3rd place match ends in a 0-0... right?

Don't worry, I'm a big bottler, but here's a clue: I'm going to choose majority pick. Nigeria win is the safest bet for the final. And so's DRC. Ready to follow me boys?

not sure what Division you mean, but regarding BSFL Div1, he actually lost it in final rounds, and CLS63 was a Champion in the end
quite a turnover in final moments that was

Oh No! He did Arsenal bottle job after spending most nights and days on the top spot, sorry for my short memory I thought he won that. Hahah what a bottler. Losing the league on the final day must be hard.

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's picks, especially from buwaytress. He'll go for something out of the ordinary and bottle this, I'm quite sure of it Grin

The lucky bastard won the First Division last season, and I've stopped underestimating him; he's getting quite unpredictable; I expected him to slide last round, but he didn't.

but I don't expect from him to do that here, last two matches all top 4 participants had same predictions, and this could repeat, at least for final match
third spot match can bring some difference, IMO, since South Africa and Congo are unpredictable teams, both

The fight for the prizes will be really close. I'm still on 5th spot (the last one to merit a prize) with no way of attacking the upper positions, but facing a fierce competition to maintain it.

Tomorrow's results would bring about numerous changes. After witnessing DR Congo against Ivory Coast, I must admit that the third-place match will be difficult to predict.

The AFCON has shown us how effective the VAR system is in the hands of competent officials. This may sound odd, but the English FA is using the system to rig matches. How can the entire Refs be this bad after VAR was implemented?

The Nigerian GK Nwabali and his South African team Chippa United are under attack the South Africans do not want him to return to the club. The club has removed some of the  tweets on Nwabali and Nigeria from their Twitter page. Losers

We've taken their jobs, women, music (Amapiano) and football - If I was South African i would hate Nigerians too. Grin

I guess he played. Watched the highlights and saw just one strike from him near the end I think it was from very far beyond penalty box, keeper saved, fumbled but nobody was close enough to take it on, but comfortable in the end.
He also won the penalty and was a workaholic upfront, putting pressure on the defenders when they held possession.

I think his number of goals does not describe his performance throughout the tournament. He has been one of Nigeria's best players so far. I am really looking forward to what club he plays for at the end of the seson.

He has been Nigeria's best player even before the competition starts, a few games doesn't change the talent, only the physical form and condition Smiley I'm still hoping to see him stay in Napoli one more season, but I have a strong feeling in July he moves across to England, we'll see of course, but winning AFCON will definitely put his price tag up even higher Wink

Hell no, with how the Ivorians always fail to put up a convincing performance whenever they play, I really don't see them winning here unless they push their luck to force a penalty shootout which makes it 50-50 for everyone and I don't think it will get here as this will be concluded inside 90 minutes!!!
In a final. Lots of things goes out the window and it is all down to who wants it more on the night.

I will quite agree, in a final nothing is the same and they often are no second chances and they game could all come down to just one mistake, a wrong call and whatnot then it's all decided, and the Ivory Coast team would have learnt quite a lesson from their group stage loss against the Super Eagles, and the last thing the Super Eagles want is to feel superior going into the game, because that also could mean losing sight of their game plan.

Ivory coast and Nigeria will handle the truth who is better and will get the trophy (don't want to say take it home, since Ivory coast already brought it home, they just want to keep it there)
and Congo vs South Africa will share third spot joy in a match that will probably be far from friendly, both are eager to get at least that last spot on podium

interesting situation in the pool, fighting till last second will be

If Nigeria put Osimhen on bench, we know they will play for draw, win with him in ET.

I don't know how if serious the knock is but id Osimhem doesn't play then it's all the manager's fault, he got a knock, came for treatment and he still push him back to the game, we were already winning and Osimhem should have been changed early to avoid all this from happening

I guess he played. Watched the highlights and saw just one strike from him near the end I think it was from very far beyond penalty box, keeper saved, fumbled but nobody was close enough to take it on, but comfortable in the end.

Guess you guys are now prime candidates, good luck Smiley Saw your post in ANN thread that must be a popping event Wink

A few bad calls here and there, but overall we can say it's above average especially that they had an extra pair of eyes from VAR to ensure the made the right calls.
Well above average for me, more within the range of excellent performance from the officials. Everyone now has an extra pair of eyes, but some refs still find a way to mess up against all odds, especially in the EPL.

You are right. It would be one of the great success stories if they can go on to win the cup, against the team that beat them in the group stages for added effect.

Even if they do not win, they have done an amazing redeeming job and restored the faith of the fans on them.
For a host nation to reach the finals against all odds, I think they have done well for themselves and whatever the outcome , this is history in the making made!!

Another day to commend the officiating of the AFCON tournament, it has been a 5 star performance from start to finish.

And they passed the group with 2 points and -4 goal difference  Grin And sacked a coach after that 4:0 beating in the last game if my memory serves me right, too lazy too double check.

Ivory Coast have just taken the lead against DR Congo, that might possibly the last straw for me  Sad

I had Nigeria ML on ticket and closed the stream after goal for 2:0 thinking it was over. Than I check a bit latter and they are shooting penalties. Ah well that is life, would have lost ticket later on anyway so no big deal but at that moment it was a shock.

Man what a game, i also miss the exact score for the VAR, i put a 2-0 for Nigeria.

That makes two of us, and just the same way I was undone by Ivory Coast in their last quarter final game against Mali.

The Yusuf guy did some silly tackles since we came on, gave away two dangerous free kick and gave away that PK also, I don't like rusty players who play with stamina instead of the brain. Don't want to see him play in the final.

That 2:0 almost wrecked my exact scoreline, and I was open to settling for 1.5 points, which would have moved me to second place, until VAR intervened.

I've been telling you that the best losers' luck is usually strong, and I hope it doesn't go against us in the finals; we can't afford to lose, but it's always difficult to play against a host country; favouritism is always present. I hope the VAR remains neutral on this one.

I'm sorry bro but Nigeria continued on their journey in the cup tonight. I assume that the only person who has believed in Nigeria on the forum has been me since the beginning of AFCON. Even though the defense line isn't comprised of much quality players Nigeria squad absolutely have the quality to win the cup. And I must admit that I'm surprised with that.

Man, stop assuming dreams! You can't be the only one that believes in us more than Nigerians; you're not alone, and you haven't read the other AFCON general thread yet. I expected Nigeria to win the trophy from the start of the tournament.  But keep supporting us; we need all of your luck and support to win the final.  Grin

The Ivory coast -Dr Congo game is too intense man, too many chances wasted from both teams. Didn't expect the DR to push the Ivorian this far. Interesting game to watch.
