Because I have no idea where the favorites are in this list,,, I will try to be smart and follow some of your guys picks, but change based on Google popularity (yes I have to pick the popular now not the bookie favorite). Is it common in basketball that home teams have advantage? I know too late since I made picks already,,, but curious.
Just go by the 'Obama picks' that I screened earlier. Or on his website obama.org. It's right on the splash page. Wink
He has picked most if not all the favorites in his selections year in and year out for the past couple of years.
Think he had his picks for the bracket correctly selected in 2009 and 2017. Atleast for the finals. Undecided

He had 2/4 correct in the first four played last night, so not a bad start for him.
Gonzanga faces off against Norfolk state from their win last night in the first round:

I've been doing good on my individual bets in NCAA Basketball these past weeks but I'm quite doubtful regarding the outcome of this MM for me.

I'm expecting to have so many upsets this weekend and those are quite normal when it comes to this stage of the tournament. Nevertheless, here are my picks and hoping to bag this one up. Grin

Does anyone know what the longest match in the EPL has been?
I think I remember one back in 2011 with Arsenal vs LFC which was 17 minutes added on at the end of the match. That one having 62 minutes played in the second half alone. Shocked
I can't remember any except the day time robbery some years back in a game between Liverpool vs Chelsea where 4 extra time was added but the ref kept it on until Liverpool(Suarez) equalized on the 7th minutes dot. A match made in hell, one of the biggest robbery ever. The other I know of is a lower division match where they had a power failure in the second half and 45mins extra time was added.
I think the match between Arsenal and Westham was 13mins added time in 2013
Wow that is some mind like a steel box or some good google-fu you got there mate! Wink Cheesy
But yeah I guess it wasn't the longest epl match in history, not by a long shot then.

Along with the MM in the NCAA basketball being release (congrats tyKiwanuka on beating me to it this time and certainly the final time to post the selections up first!) those who followed former president's Barack Obama bracket last time he put them up for all to see. He has his selections up for this seasons bracket yet again for this year.

He has all first seeds to win and Gonzanga to win it all (ofc just as I had predicted a while ago but against Illinois? Embarrassed) so what fun is it in having them all winning in their matchups?
You got to have a bracket upset in a couple of those games to keep the excitement level up or it will just be boring asf. Cheesy
Just seen the promotions page available about an hour ago so will be making mine later on tonight.
But here is the link for those who want to place them tonight or tomorrow.

Only thing going my way in this multimaster is that even people that watch basketball don't know so much about NCAA. At least that is my hope. Copy my picks to fail miserably Smiley

Damn, no draws this time so I went with almost all home teams. Hopefully they do have home and away turf and there actually is home advantage in NCAA.

I believe this match was the longest game played including extra-time for the injury sustained by the wolves goal keeper near the end of it. I think I heard it added 15 minutes at the end. The first half had extra time added on as well but can't remember how many minutes were in total for the first half. Undecided

So just to keep the vibe on the thread a little more upbeat, now knowing Patricio will be okay since he is still recovering and able to speak now:

Yup, the 'never raise flags' rule is as dangerous as it is dumb. The funniest thing is when you see a player who knows he's offside looking at the linesman, the linesman has his flag down, both he and the defenders have that half second 'WTF' moment (you can see it on their faces' before continuing to play. The player scores, does not celebrate because he knows he was 2 yards in, the ref disallows it, play on. I mean, don't call out tiny offsides. But please, do call the clear and obvious ones.

Yeah, I think I've always trusted linesmen, and if it's such a controversy, it usually only happens when a goal is scored anyway. And we've all gotten over it, I know I've never complained so much about offside, you get on with it. I didn't mind too much with the new rules though until you see what you described happening over and over. Everyone looks to the linesman, because it's habit. Then oh, he's not flagging, let me try anyway. Then players score and look again and see ah, yes, it's up, hey can't blame me for trying;)

We had some cases where players were clearly onside and the flag was raised we also had some cases where the players were offside by the minimum margin but the linesmen could not detect, that was why the end of phase was introduced to let the play goes on and let Var decides afterwards, linesman still raise flag if the offside is very clear, they were just given two options.  We have had some bad injuries around the midfield in the past, Patricio injury was one of those unfortunate days just like any other unfortunate days too. Offside rules have nothing to do with it.

Mate I've to disagree with you here man. I understand why the rule was introduced but the fact is, some injuries were preventable. As I said, I'd rather sacrifice a few wrong offside calls so that keepers and defenders don't take bad risks. The fact that when a striker is clearly offside means he's so much closer to goal than he should be, so defenders are going the extra mile and extra risk. I think we've seen enough bad injuries to prevent goals that wouldn't have mattered anyway to seriously consider retracting this new rule.

I can't recall all the times I wish the flag would have gone, so my team's defenders wouldn't have needed to run the full length down to clear and pull muscles, before flag finally, slowly, went up. A collective "eff you man" can be heard from them and me haha.

Exactly why I didn't really like the new rule about offside flags only being raised at the end of play phase -- I talked about it a lot with my kid watching. When it's so clearly offside, raise the flag, so defenders and goalies don't need to risk life and limb to prevent a goal in case it's onside.

Yeah, the new rule apparently came because of Jimenez's concussion and this was the first implementation of the concussion sub. I only knew after watching the commentary post match. Good rule, and I just hate injuries like these no matter to who. Concussion injuries are very complex because brain injury is not clear with scans.

We had the same with the VVD injury too, if the flag had been raised offside, Pickford wouldn't have rushed out to injure VVD.

I'd rather get the wrong call with offside flags (and we trust the linesmen to raise it only when it is super obvious as it was last night with Salah) than risk injuries because it's happening too often.

Also didn't even really see replays so it must have been really bad, hope Patricio's all right.
He has regained consciousness and he is okay according to his coach and he will run some test today to know the extend of his injury. The good news is he is talking again, it was not that bad as we saw it. He may be on the sideline some weeks.
You know it was not good yesterday if the good news are that he is talking again. Just hoping he will recover soon, especially since Wolves already had that Jimenez head injury. If I am not mistaken Patricio now has to miss some games even if he makes complete recovery today. Wasn't there some addition to that rule about extra sub in case of  head injury saying so?
