Basically Spain is still playing that famous tiki-taka style where they just pass, and we all know that it worked amazingly for a while but the reality is that teams figured that out with deep defence already, if you can't pass through passes to make sure people can score, that's not going to work and you do not have a Messi to help you out there.

Spain needs to figure out it is not working anymore, even Pep is having hard time with a billion dollar team, got Haaland to make sure it would work. All in all, I feel like it is the tactic that caused them to lose, Morocco played a much more modern style of football and then ended up beating them on the penalties and looked better too.
The tiki taka strategy that Spain has always been proud of is now no longer useful, especially when they lost against Morocco, which is an underdog country in football. I sometimes wonder why I prefer to play short passes and always have control of possession, but that does nothing.

By the way, I'm really annoyed because yesterday I bet on Spain and had to lose because of their boring game.  Embarrassed
Don't be so harsh on Spain, Morocco is world class team and I have been saying that from the first game against Croatia. They have only conceded 1 goal in this entire tournament and that one was an own goal. It is no small feet to keep your net intact against Croatia, Belgium and Spain. I am only blaming Spain for not going for it in extra time. I was watching Marocco making the subs and getting in the players that really aren't up to the top team standards while Spain had great bench to chose from. This was the moment they had to use. Teams like Morocco simply don't have extra quality on the bench while teams like Spain, Brazil and France can field their 3rd squad and still be competitive on highest level. That is where the difference shows and you must have the guts to use it to your advantage.

Tiki-taka of Spain is outdated and they need an upgrade version of it like what Manchester City and Pep Guardiola are using in their club. Unfortunately, Manchester City have better players than Spain have. City have better midfielders, better tactic and a top-notch striker Erling Haaland. It's important for Spain to have  a top-notch striker who can create pressure on opponent's defenders like Haaland. Many years since retirement of David Villa and Fernando Torres, Spain have yet found a good striker to replace them.

Manchester City versions with and without Haaland are very different and a version with Haaland brings lot of fear to their opponents.

They need to upgrade their tactics first and next, must have some necessary players for it. They need both to succeed in next big tournaments.

Spain lost against Italy in Euro 2020 and Morocco in World Cup 2022 in a same way. They dominated these matches but failed to win within 120 minutes. At penalty spots, they failed to both opponents. Spain is like England with very bad records on penalty spots.

Morocco created all the big chances to be honest. Spain’s goalkeeper made some great saves to keep it 0-0. Spain looked like a crap version of Man City, lots of possession but no cutting edge like the Manchester club.
Makes sense. Morocco did deserve the win at the end of the day primarily because of their goalkeeper who was absolutely brilliant. Sad to see Spain go down in this manner though.

Well we all know he wasn't happy. What is worse his ego does not even allow him to congratulate young team mate on remarkable feat. When all the players went to greet the supporters he just waved and went away while other players celebrated great victory. Really not the kind of behavior you want to see from your player, let alone team captain and maybe the greatest player Portugal ever produced.
This is a false narrative being manufactured by pathetic trolls on Twitter who clearly hate CR7. There are several videos out there that clearly prove that he did interact happily with the crowd before walking away while the rest of the team interacted with them after sometime.

ronaldo's service to Portugal was enormous and we all know that every great player has a time limit.
Exactly. I never liked him as a person, but I loved his football skills which is why he will always be my favorite football player of all-time.

ronaldo missed playing against Switzerland due to an injury he had, and he looked sad about it,, ronaldo helped Portugal win several titles before Portugal has the great young players it is now and the teammates who fought alongside him must be aware of that. ronaldo's service to Portugal was enormous and we all know that every great player has a time limit.

Yes i really dont like that attitude of him, and also i cant understand how he cant control his ego, he is destryoing all his reputation with the last movements he do.
Because the Manchester one we cant know the whole history, but if you make the same childist at the same time in your national team were you are the captain..... come on, that say clearly who has the reason in the previous one.

I really support him, asides of im Argentinian so obvisuly support more Messi, but i really like him and i dont want him to finish his carrer in this way.

What a mess for Spain, and most for one player in particular.

Sarabia enter the game to shoot penalties, he had a 16/16 in penalties before this one.

I cant believe how bad the penalties were shoot.

All the surprises of the round of 16, were today, Morocco, and the six one between Portugal and the Swiss. I never seen a Swiss so bad in defence.

What the freaking heck. Spain actually lost against Morocco despite possessing the ball majority of the time and hitting way more shots though only one shot was on target. Morocco decimated them in the penalties.

What a thrilling upset. Lost my bet though thanks to a goalless draw in 90 minutes plus stoppage time. Crazy stuff!

I’m glad to see Morocco go through, would be cool if Switzerland could join them.

Wow, that's a lot of coins to risk, but in hind-site it's almost as safe of a bet as the S&P500.  Maybe even safer, more profitable, certainly way more fun.

Brazil is looking like a house on fire.  No letting up, 4 goas before the 37th minute.  I almost feel sorry for Korea, they still have 45 minutes of embarrassment to endure.

@Steve the gambler who wagered on Japan lost his $1000 Grin, and I have to admit that Japan really could have caused an upset and what an incredible performance by them. Lastly wagering on Brazil was an easy choice because they’re the favourites to win this year, and with Neymar back their odds of winning just got boosted.

Very poorly. I'm "Sojourner" in all these games. Mid table in pool, but Matchday 3 saved me actually as I started below 50th place! Now a respectable 20+ position thanks to some awesome upsets. Managed to get closer yesterday too, but I doubt I'm climbing into Top 10.
You are not doing that bad, currently you are in Superbru midtable but there is chance to finish in top ten places in you continue with good results in next rounds.
There is no big difference in top positions and there are a lot more points in play, with maximum 3 points for each correct score in ten remaining matches, that is 30 points to change everything.
I am still first in Fifa brackets but competition is very strong and they are catching up on me.

Do you guys know how to access the bracket? I forgot where it is, tried clicking all the World Cup links in promotion page but just can't seem to find the bracket link.
I posted the link before, but you can access it only if you have Fifa account and if you are logged in:
https://play.fifa.com/bracket-predictor/brackets

Your bet has been so close, France leading comfortably but that penalty in favor of Poland in 90+6, when Lewandowski scored in his 2nd attempt to make it 3-1 was easily avoidable for France.
Killed my accurate result (3-0) in Sportsbet World Cup pool as well.  Cry
Yeah I know, lost in last seconds Smiley
My correct score in Superbru was 2-0 for France so I would be very happy if they both didn't score in extra time.

I have an open bet who will turn out in a winning one if Croatia makes it : so even if I sympathize for Japan I will join Croatian supporters for this match  Cheesy

Also, the odds for South Korea to win against Brazil are great and am expecting an insane upset here.
Remember South Korea's upset against Germany in the last World Cup? That should be enough of a reason to put a few bucks on South Korea @11 today, no? 11 odds!! 👀

Doesnt aged well. I dont know if we are in the eighties or in today.

What a destroy BRasil its making, they make look South Korea like totally unprofesional, but this World Cup doesnt stop to surprises me.

A few days ago this same Korea was beating Portugal and sent home Uruguay, and Brasil was losing against Cameroon (i know, with a lot of subs).

Well seems like we are going to have a clasical WC, Europe + South America.

It hasn't been even half an hour and Brazil is already 2-0 up, I do not expect any type of upset at all, it is going to be a Brazil win, glad I picked them, I wagered on over, waiting on another goal and feel like that will happen easily enough by the looks of it. Japan tried their best but they weren't good in the penalties, they really played amazingly up until that moment and shot penalties like someone who never played FIFA before and had to shoot penalty but didn't know the buttons. It is getting a bit clearer picture nowadays, we are going to have a much better quarter finals with a lot more fun if you ask me.
