Anyone dare to bet for Atletico to lose this time? Maybe they actually need to LOSE first before they change their strategy because they are still stubborn to believe they can defend and then hit back on the counter. Good strategy for KO competitions but sucky in the league I personally feel.

it is not good just for KO, it could be good against better teams, but that strategy against teams that are lower class is real a difficult one to accept, i do not get how you can think of that strategy playing with Osasuna or Cadiz, that would be pleased with a point from that match, in match like that one, no one would attack Smiley

Next match on 17th October they play home  against Cádiz. If look at statistic three out of five  last matches Real won at home   while  Cádiz won 3 of 5 when played  away. Can Cádiz stand up Real?  I bet on Real but I feel like the match will  tickle my nerves.

it's a Real to win for me, my pool pick will probably be 2:0 or 3:1

and Celta de Vigo vs. Atletico Madrid? the last two matches was a draw, we can see a 0:0/1:1 again on Saturday here

You are currently topping the chart and you'll be there for at least almost 2 weeks since there are league matches for the coming week.

I'm still performing woefully with my picks currently 10/13 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️
Out of 10 matches this game week, I only got 2 right, 1 exact score and 1 close result. Honestly, I still don't know how I am even topping the table. Maybe there is some magic at play here  Cheesy

Just checked out the pool table, and I am a little surprised to have climbed to the second place. I felt as though I have performed poorly in Game Week 4

Real Madrid finally won comfortably, and damn we drew to Sevilla but it was a good result nevertheless I would say.

If that win yesterday is marked as comfortable win for Real than Real really lowered the expectations from their supporters. They managed to win against Levante 2:0 but second goal came in 95th minute so the game was very open before that. And I can see that Levante had almost the same number of shots at goal as Real. Did not watch the game so maybe the feel was different but I am expecting from top clubs to have 2 or 3 goal leads before 60 minute.

I guess he was talking about the context of Real always winning by a single goal margin, and relying on the endless penalty - Ramos - converted scenario. It's like they carried on in the same fashion from last season it seems but you're right, at least for me in La Liga, you're expecting top teams to win by 2 goals early. A different context in EPL though I'd say, every game seems like a tough nut even for a top team. *Cough United and Liverpool losing by 5 goals*

@Trofo @slaman29

Yup. I spent my mistake on the Huesca game, glad I just totally avoided them again (though I got to say now, the odds would be super good value on their next game). Unless there is any indication they'll play differently, I think the good money's to bet on their opponent with a small handicap. Or draw no bets. Awful, awful football.

12/13 so far in this league. I suck hard.

That's fine buddy;) You do far better than me in EPL and this is the second season in a row I am in the bottom 20% of that pool. I never considered myself very good at football anyway but 2/13 this early in the season doesn't mean anything I've seen how Superbru can swing a lot especially now in Covid season anything can happen!

Well done big daddy!

I also didn't watched Atletico game yesterday, didn't bet on it too. Yes, it's Atletico, but I still can't understand how team with forwards like Suarez, Costa and Felix can't score in 180 minutes.
Terrible round for me, just 1.5 so far, but now I get exact score in Cadiz - Granada game. Can't wait for Barca - Sevilla game. Don't know about others, but I feel confident about our win tonight.

Is there any optimist who tried to watch Atletico today? I learned my lesson and skipped both watching and betting on them. Just checked the stats and game predictably ended 0:0 and Atletico was so toothless in the attack that they did not have a single shot on the goal. It seems like those 6 goals where monthly quota for them and now we have to wait some time before they get new allotment. Sort of like merit sources here on the forum  Grin

Not me. I learned my lesson very well, I should have gone for Atletico no goal I think it was 2.5 but I just stayed clear away and the 0-0 score seems to have justified that. I wish I predicted the same in Superbru though.

Atletico 0 shots on goal is totally shameful.

Very uninteresting bookie odds tonight's matchups. I suspect Villareal could pull off an upset tonight but at only 4/1 I'm not sure I want to put money down (instead I put 4/1 on Koln in Bundesliga haha as Gladbach's only got the favourite boost just because of Champions League!).

You reckon it's still a lot of draws tonight?

@logfiles maybe you're a Spanish genius you don't even know;)

However, I don't think Griezmann will be big problem for Barca because he's not essential element of Barca formation. He's already playing off-position and we already have Trincao and Dembele as the perfect substitutions to his position. So the only one in harm is Griezmann himself. If he won't perform, manager will replace him with other world-class wingers. As simple as that.
I did not mean problem on the pitch. I meant more like problem in the dressing room (unhappy player if not playing or playing badly plus bad relationship with messi) and financial problem (high wages and already paid high transfer fee, should be recuperated as soon as possible if not in first team plans, especially in this covid stricken market).

I was again watching with one eye while doing other things but have a feeling Griezmann will be biggest Barca problem this season. There was that great counter attack when De Jong found him with beautiful pass the ball just bounced from him like I am watching somebody from Croatian 2nd league and not one of the best players in the world. After defender got red card, Koeman decided to sub Griezmann before all other players on the pitch which is also telling something. His confidence must be on very low levels, hope he will bounce back.

After first game, I was supportive for Grizzi's contribution due of his defensive display but yeah, yesterday he was impact-less. Roberto was top-notch and able to get back and hold his position for most of the game and was equally sharp in attack as well. So Griezmann didn't has much say in defense as well as attack yesterday. Moreover, that awful first touch to De Jong's mouth-watering ball was pain in the eye to watch. So I agree with you that he can be snubbed off in upcoming fixtures.

PS: Congo for the yellow cap. It was tight week in the points table.

I just finished making the picks for this weekend and this one is going to be the first challenge for the pool. So many close and uncertain fixtures this time unlike last 2-3 matchdays. I made draw predictions for couple of them and so many more interesting picks. This week can be a big gamble for me. It can be 15+ points or 5 > points. Excited!

@slaman yeah to be fair, after Lenglet's sending off, I thought it was going to be over with a draw and I wasn't at all hoping for my 4-0 to come true, good thing for the 3 goals. Two good games with plenty of goals, Ansu Fati I really, really like, so I'm glad he's getting a lot of joy (he'll always be sentimental for me so I hope his career blossoms).

Only Barca and Sevilla can do perfect starts now so soon into the season. And they're both up next;)

Clean sheets, full points, but Barca start the same way they did last season: SO many yellows and reds.

So strange that nobody predicted 3-0 for Barca. I did 2-0, I saw many 3-1 picks and even 4-0 from Sojourner.

Nice yellow cap to Trofo with 11 points. I got 10 points in second place, not good enough! Games are so fast now already in Round 5 for Superbru but most teams only played 2/3 games?

Very nice round for me, managed to clinch yellow cap and jump 4 places up in the leader board Smiley

Watched Barca game last night and I must say I am very impressed with them. Most of us were afraid how they will look and they are looking better than ever in the last few seasons. Another win without conceding a goal even when they played with 10 man for whole second half.

With Barca game we have finished all the games from 4th round of the La Liga. With that our pool is now closed for new players. I will update the OP with final prize distribution info later today. Nothing new, I will just copy the info from that post where I already announced it a week or two ago.

^  I don't think we'll ever see peak Hazard anymore.  Sad  Sad..  He was really fun to watch at Chelsea and mostly the only reason I started watching Real matches more closely last season innthe rare cases he was on.  He wasn't the same...

Anyway, boy do I suck at this pool.  Cheesy

I hope you're wrong. But yeah, I actually honestly only remember him at his powers in that Mourinho season, and every season after (in fact starting the season Mou got sacked) he's been more shit and injured than brilliant. I always feel disappointed watching.

I was hoping for more attacking and creative Atletico Madrid but it was another super boring game from them. Last time I am watching them unless they are playing against some other club I do want to see play. I don't know how their own supporters manage to watch that football every week. They are playing against Huesca and have one shot on goal, 85th minute at the moment. I have them at ticket also so we can only hope for some late penalty. Unfortunately, they are not the club from Madrid which has VAR judges in their pocket Smiley

Yep, I remember Roy Hodgson era for Liverpool and it was incredible how we would tune in to watch every match no matter what. Football truly is all about self punishment sometimes. Lost me a number of bets Atletico, bloody hell.
