Czech Republic 2-2 Spain

The performance of the Czech Republic surprised me. They possessed only 21% of the ball, and in 90 minutes they made a total of 3 shots. However, they managed to draw the match 2-2. Although we saw the dominance of Spain in the whole match, they could not win.
Yea, the Czech Republic was very efficient last night. But one should consider that they focused on defense after their early lead and Spain is a team known for their usually high ball posession %. They defended well and even were able to get a 2-1 lead again. In the end Spain was lucky to go home with a point, even though looking at the overall game they would have deserved a win.

In the next days are some more interesting pairings:
Croatia vs France
Italy vs Hungary
Germany vs England
Belgium vs Poland
Wales vs Netherlands

People did and do complain about the Nations League, but it does produce nice pairings Wink

Well at least i scored my first point in this pool, this its getting really tough.

I cant belive how Spain allow Czech Republic to score two goals. When they draw the match i thinked they can win easily but that clearly not happen.

Terrible outing for most people but I guess we all scored the point in Portugal, but look at SwordsRex and MoSala guessing the draw for Spain correctly! I get haunted by seeing all the familiar names like MoSala appear again and again in all the pools  Grin but who is SwordsRex by the way?

Anyway now you guys who did not watch know how bad it is for us who never get the chance to watch most games. Like we are literally relying on reports to predict  Roll Eyes

Portugal 4-0 Switzerland

Portugal drew 1-1 with Spain in their previous match. Ronaldo was not in the squad. But against Switzerland, I was almost certain that Portugal would win. Although Switzerland is a good enough team. But I bet Portugal's victory because Ronaldo was in the squad. But I thought Portugal would win 1-0 or 2-1. However, they got a remarkable 4-0 win.

Yes but its very very strange to see Switzerland defend so bad, if Switzs have any good its defense so i dont know why they play so bad in defence in this match.

Nobody waits for a landslide.

I dont know what to excpect really for the next games.

I think that Portugal are definitely going to win in their home stadium today. About the Spain's match, I picked a 2-1 win for Spain in the pool. But now I think that both teams will not be able to score and it can be a little unproductive match.
Portugal won convincingly over Switzerland with a score of 4-0. Spain, which was predicted to win over the Czechs, was only able to achieve a 1-1 draw.

Portugal dominated the game against Switzerland with 15 shots. In my opinion, João Cancelo played very well. He is able to do a good job of helping Cristiano Ronaldo in attack and not forgetting to help defend.

Portugal takes this tournament very seriously, in contrast to Spain who seem to underestimate Switzerland despite their superior possession of the ball.

I went for my first draw with Portugal vs Switzerland and then Spain to win, but neither of it happened. You really just can't predict these teams, I've not seen any of the games, probably that's having an effect, perhaps watching a few of the games might help me make better decision but not as much as going for Czech draw or a France losing to Denmark right ?

Many players have already indicated that they are not looking forward to playing in the Nations League. The Netherlands gave Belgium a beating, and seemed to be a mediocre country. Many players may not have felt like it at all. But the Netherlands may also be better than people think. I think we can conclude that Belgium no longer has the golden generation as they have been called in recent years. The decline of France was of course the pinnacle and can now be forgotten by the group winners.

I am very surprised to see the result of this match. I did not expect Spain to lose against the Czech Republic 2:1,and now the match is in favor of them. I do not think that Spain will be able to return to the result!!!

i think we're in for another round of the Nations League circus. Next team to put their clown shoes on: Spain. 4 minutes in and it's 1-0 Czech Republic.

did not expected from Czech republic much in Nations league, but they won first, and now have 1:0 in second match
Portugal is now up against Swiss, but have to say that Spain looked more like a winner to me, compared to Portugal

other Nations league groups are also full of surprises (B, C ranges), so it could be that these are just friendly matches, as milky way for betting companies
I don't know how Czechs started to play such good football but there is still whole second half for Spain to turn it completely around. Keeping my fingers crossed since I need a winning ticket. Too much losses on Nations League already and this is the last chance I am giving to this competition. I have a nice double Portugal + Spain and I am counting Portugal as a win already Smiley

@buwaytress  Haha. There are three big games today and it is going to be very difficult for me to keep up this performance but let's see. Maybe my luck hasn't run out yet.  Tongue

There will be plenty of goals and loads of dropped point from favourites, listen to me and win the week Wink

But nah, do how you're doing and everything will fall into place. Being a short pool, should be a lot of luck playing into the standings. I'm not too concerned with my current position, as I'm consulting my local witch doctor shaman guy tomorrow and he'll tell me everything I need to know.

@toma I'm going with Belgium win but betting-wise, Dutch upset!

I lost my magic for some games but it affected everyone so I'm still comfortable for now.  Grin  However, I wonder whether today will be a good day for me. I picked Spain to win by 2-1 and Portugal to win by the same score also. The Czech Republic - Spain game has been very well for me so far as the first half ended in a 1-1 draw. If Spain get ahead and finish the game by that score I would be very happy.  Cheesy  I won't be able to predict the exact score for the Portugal - Switzerland game but it feels still good to see Portugal leading by 3-0 already now.

I expected that there will be some strange results in Nations League since many teams don't consider it that important but I never expected all the favorites to fail. Some of them failed spectaculary like Croatia or Belgium, and some of them lost against much weaker teams like England.

Portugal conceded after just 5 minutes but it was cancelled by the VAR... Wth is going on?? Smiley i don't think i'm in the mood for placing bets in friendly matches anymore

Maybe Portugal took it easy in the beginning but once the VAR disallowed the goal for Switzerland immediately after that Portugal crashed Switzerland as it is winning by 3 goals lead right now near the end of the first half.It looks like finally a strong team is winning comfortably against a rather strong opponent like Switzerland.I am confident that Spain would not want to be beaten by Czech Republic and I have high hopes they will turn things around during the second half, restoring confidence in people who still believe that stronger teams should win in normal conditions.

Portugal is now ahead 3-0 and it's safe to say they will go home as a winner tonight.
Spain on the other hand is behind 1-0. The still have the 2nd half to equalize or even win the game, but the Czech Republic is not an easy opponent tonight. Current odds are 2.1/3.0/3.75 (Czech Rep vs Spain), so bookmakers favor the Czech Rep now.

Anyone made the same mistake as me thinking Wales game was somehow part of the pool? I knew it was a WC qualifier, but somehow my mind put it as one of the games today, checked the pool with some memory of picking 1-0 Wales and saw... it wasn't.

Heh.

Problem is it does not play in our advantage to pick upsets in pools like this one over the long run and then we all do badly except our table leader. I am giving one last chance to NL on my tickets today with bets on Spain and Portugal. If this blows, only underdogs from now on Smiley

Exactly. I am my own proof that the underdog doesn't pay off in the long run. Of course, it could be a different thing for a pool with 50 games or so, and maybe with 10 games left if you're either really far behind or struggling in mid position, could be worth a thought to go for one or two big upsets and make up for lost ground or widen the gap.

I won NL, but lost other shitty leg. Such an idiot.

I did the same.Put a win on Portugal and Spain tonight. They drew against each other in the first game of the their group and the game looked like they were playing normally. Now if they play normally tonight too, then it is only natural for them to win their games against Czech and Switzerland.I am not going to be as radical as you and only go for the underdogs as I think most teams will probably wake up after losing their first game should bring them back to their senses.
Both (Spain and Prtugal) are expected to win their games tonight, still risky to bet on them after we saw some very surprising results in the last days. Bookmakers pay like 1.7 for a win of Spain or Portugal in their respective games.
There will be also Sweden vs Norway (teams of similar strength) and Serbia vs Slowenien (Serbia expected to win) tonight.

people who backed the underdogs be like:

I don't think I've ever had it this bad, in any pool I've participated in, England were able to continue streak for me, at least this time it's more comforting that no one from the pool guess the result.
it's only Round 1 and there's still 40 games to go, but yeah, i'm off to a really bad start as well, already 9pts behind first place :/  and about England, clown show, some players don't deserve to be on the NT let alone starters

Still not putting any money on the line, and I'm fine with that for now, I guess it's probably been a long season for these players just to get back to National teams for so called glorified friendly, but I thought they'd at least for some dignity and you'd expect scouts from several clubs in these games giving the transfer window season, but there is not show forth for now. I'll stick to my style for now, but then I'll probably just switch to draws only there after.
