So Liverpool returning to winning ways, was about time if you ask me. Did not watch the game so just one question. Was Liverpool that good or was Everton just poor? Want to judge them properly to maybe sieze some opportunity for bet against Newcastle.
~snip

My (probably incredibly biased) view: we were good. Fabinho played his best game in a long time (not that he was great, he was just doing his job and only 1 silly tackle), Bajcetic was superb, Robbo was to me the best player on the field, you never leave him out of a derby. Nunez was his usual threat, and usually not converting but I insist he is being unlucky.

Everton weren't poor, but clearly they were unable to produce the same levels Dyche is demanding, but on that performance they could have beaten most teams in the league.

congrats on win

I would add that match was much better than expected
expected a nervous fight, and it was much more than that, Liverpool was indeed better team, although if header before the first Liverpool goal hit the target we would maybe have a bit more to fight for, but Liverpool was better than in previous matches certainly and obviously have much better team at the moment

Everton was playing without any attacker, so one shot on target is above expected Wink

Newcastle has dropped the form a bit and this match does not look as difficult as it would be a couple of weeks ago.

All those players coming back should help even more.

Jota and Bobby came on to play a bit and I liked what I saw generally. 7 attempts on goal vs Everton's 1 was a fair summary.

And yes, of course I am happy to make back some money, I missed out on 17/10 but I think 16/10 against relegation strugglers was very fair value. At no point in the match did we look like we'd lose.

Liverpool were absolutely very good yesterday. Frankly I needed them to win by a bigger goal gap for my parlay. However they wasted the goal opportunities generously after the score became 2-0. Even though bet websites are showing Newcastle favourite for the weekend I think Liverpool will win this away.

Apparently the increase in odds was only put in place to scare bettors away as I have bet on them a couple of days before the game of yesterday and I got it with 1.50 odd while yesterday at some bookmakers even passed the 1.71 odd and Liverpool was playing at home against one of the most weak teams of the Premier League of this season.I am glad that a lot of people and including a lot of people from this pool too made quite some money yesterday with this game as we all did bet on Liverpool to win this game.

If you look at Liverpool's performance against Everton, they did play well in that match, Fabinho appeared impressive in the midfield which made Liverpool's game more dominant, so that Mohamad Salah and Cody Gakpo managed to score one goal. Darwin Nunez is also playing well, but has not yet reached his best playing form. This match is not a reflection of Liverpool's current quality, because Liverpool only face teams that are in the relegation zone.

Liverpool's next match is against Newcastle United who are in fifth place in the standings. If you look at the performance of the two, I think that Newcastle United's chances are bigger, especially when playing at home. This will be a good capital for Newcastle when they face Liverpool at home, even though Newcastle have also experienced a decline in performance in the last five matches in the Premier League.

So proud of you @CLS63. I went far simpler than that, just betting simple ML at almost 10 mins live with every satoshi SB would allow me heh. This wasn't even coins I was supposed to have but you know how it goes (one last time). We'll both breathe easier if we get another goal or two but it's a proper derby so far!

The Salah-Nunez-Salah goal... that was so reminiscent of old Liverpool that it almost cut me to see it. Credit to Nunez, Diaz and Mane wouldn't have matched that speed. Extra painful joy was that it was a counter from an Everton header that hit the post...

I do hope that Jota, Diaz and Bobby will help us turn things around. The bigger problem is our midfield though - and that won't be solved before the summer.

Speaking of, I didn't expect to see even one of them but Jota, Bobby, even VVD were all on the bench today!

I don't know why but I think Liverpool will be motivated to attack for top 4 one last time. It doesn't seem impossible to me that Liverpool get a win by a big goal gap in the derby and get three points in the away match against Newcastle with this morale to make their supporters happy in a season that goes on horrible. But I accept that it is very difficult.

It is certainly possible for Liverpool to win the derby and get three points against Newcastle, but it is a difficult task. Liverpool have had a difficult season and have been inconsistent in their performances. They will need to be at their best to get the results they need to make the top four. Additionally, their opponents will be motivated to get a result against them, making it even more difficult. It is possible, but it will take a lot of hard work and determination from the players and the coaching staff.
Now Liverpool is superior by one goal in its match against Everton. It would be great if the Liverpool players could add a second goal, knowing that my expectation was 2:0

I dont know why but, how the Premier League can put a derby in a Monday?. And its not a little one.

About the game, i really dont know what to think, Everton was a disaster until the last game, and Liverpool doesnt show any good but have plenty of good players. its tricky.

It was lucky on the previous game against Arsenal that Everton won but this does not mean anything as Everton still is a weak team. The fact that they got a new coach does not mean anything and his impact cannot really be felt in the early stages of his presence coaching Everton.Liverpool is waiting for a win from a long time and they are eager tonight to win this game in front of their home fans.It will be difficult but not impossible.

And I would not be surprised at all as the Premier League is well known for playing on Boxing day and also playing on January first, right after they have been drinking and celebrating the New Year,so nothing to be surprised here in this matter  Grin.

looking at odds @1.5 on Liverpool is no value, will be interesting to see where it will be on Monday, Everton is currently @6

looking at odds on Merseyside derby, Liverpool rised to @1.65-1.7 and Everton slided to 5 at the moment
not sure how to feel about tonight, but Dyche inserted new will into Everton team, and they were running against Arsenal as never before (three players from first team covered most miles during one match against Arsenal this season)

DCL is out almost certainly, and win is needed to get out from relegation zone

Wow. Bad signal for those who bet on Liverpool. I noticed that such a change in odds mainly occurred in those games where the favorite team lost points (I noticed this with Real Madrid several times). I don’t know how the bookmakers sniff out such information, but they definitely learned something that affected the odds.

I don't remember a Merseyside derby in which both teams had so many issues like they will have today. Liverpool's season is all but over and Everton is in a serious relegation battle.
It has a potential to be a really nervous game - which will be great for the neutrals.

It seems that Thiago is the newest addition to the injury list - this will be fun, he was our only midfielder that played decent football.

^  City could give Arsenal a tough match tho...  And it looks like Arsenal is getting figured out.  Last couple of last 6 matches shows that they could be starting to falter.  Guardiola and his boys should go for the jugular.  Which raises my other point...  Emery could go for the jugular too and take advantage knowing that the Gunners doesn't have much rest.

I posted this in Jolly's thread but seems like no one really bets on the matches there...  But what do you guys think of Aston Villa draw no bet is at 3.50 and double chance win or draw is at 2.18?  :/

I think that for City this is a life and death match in the sense that it can decide this Premier League season for them.If they manage to win this game they would go on equal points with Arsenal and then give them a motivational boost to continue their good form but if they lose this game together with this loss they also start losing hopes of winning the Premier League despite this being still mathematically possible.

On an Arsenal point of view they need to win this game at any cost after performing really bad in these last two rounds of the Premier League as if they lose this game they also get hit with a psychological impact that they are not doing well and going from bad to worse.

Getting tight up at the top now, Man Utd somehow dragged their way into a title race. Looks like a 3 way fight, only 5 points from 1st to 3rd.

Arsenal don’t need to panic, they have the lead. The other two teams would definitely swap places with them. Time for calm at the Emirates, they can do it.
If Arsenal loses to Manchester City in the coming days, pressure will mount and players will lose focus. I hope this is not the beginning of the end for the Gunners, who had an 8-point lead a few weeks ago and have now lost 4 points. Already in the last 14 days, it does not appear that they will be able to keep up for long.

I'm not sure how long G. Jesus will be out, but the team desperately needs him right now. Nketieh and Martinelli have been slowing down for a few weeks now, and the team has had to rely on midfielders to do the job..
Arsenal had three quite week games in a row and they were lucky City did not come closer even earlier. That is the problem when you are playing well, teams start to respect you more and more and it is much thougher to find spaces in attack. City will give them that space so it could be a good game.

United profited the most from those small slips and I would not write them off at this stage. With Rashford in form and when Casemiro geta back they can win against anybody in league.

It worked today but I am thinking first top club in CL will again end City path to that most coveted trophy.

agree here, but also have to define a top European club
what seemed to be great CL season is vaporing, and I am not sure who can be called Top, so that is a City chance after all

Barca is playing great, but competing in EL, Real is not so great, Bayern as well, Liverpool, Chelsea not to be commented, there is Napoli left as team in form atm
