No Premier League games until the 19th but the last two games of the next round should be interesting:  Manchester United - Liverpool &  Crystal Palace - Manchester City. Given current form I think Liverpool should beat United but I don't think United's bad form is going to last forever (though I hope it does). If they lose this game they could actually end up in the relegation zone  Cheesy.
Well I wish them best of luck for the relegation zone 🤪
Utd is not strong enough to take away any points from Liverpool.

I think it's Liverpool's season.  They deserve it...  Happy for Klopp.
Yeah, unless we start repeating the same mistakes and draw number of matches at the middle.

^  Rofl.  Yes please.  I want to see Man United at the relegation zone for the lulz (even if for a while).  Grin

Liverpool
AC Milan

Man Utd
Maybe Ajax

Teams who have dominated Europe during multiple periods winning multiple European titles. Teams like Man City aren’t even in the conversation.

Well, it's easier if you take only results into consideration. I was thinking more about fans and some sort of 'off-field' significance, where for example I really value clubs like Borussia Dortmund, Celtic or Athletic.
Clubs with significance whose fans are not the Real Madrid brainless 'please buy Neymar or I support PSG' kind, but more observant of football in general and who represent a story of their own behind the club itself.
That is something Abramovich could not buy at Chelsea and sheikhs cannot buy at City. Yellow wall (not to constantly talk about Liverpool) is something more meaningful to football in general than Chelsea's CL medal.

You gotta give credit to Chelsea's CL win tho.  That was a feat in itself.  Got so many laughs from it too...  TORREEESS!  What a hero.

Palace have already beat Manchester United away this season so maybe they can get something out of this game too. I don't know if I'd back them at the win or draw but it'll be a game to watch. I'd really love if both Manchester teams could fall further down the table and Liverpool break further away.

I thought everybody knew about Yellow wall. It is one of the most impressive things for me in all of football, it is not just a group of fans. It is a movement for accessible football and cheap tickets, it is a stand against football's sitting atmosphere and a combatant to nationalistic extremism often shown on football grounds. It is a core value of a club that played CL finals not so long ago.

I will hopefully go there one day as well, I was at the Kop and it was amazing and this is something I want to experience next.

I am wondering how many readers got your "Yellow wall" reference. I don't remember reading about it anywhere and would probably have no clue what you are talking about if I haven't been to Dortmund. I watched a cup game vs. VfR Aalen in the summer of 2012 and the atmosphere was breathtaking. I believe Borusia won 4:1 or 5:1, it was interesting for sure.

And that "Yellow wall" is definitely something you cannot buy.

10 years ago, Manchester City was where it Nottingham Forest now, but NF has more glory in the past. Last few good seasons do not promote CIty as a top Europan clubs on all time.
Absolutely agree with DeathAngel about Footballing Royalty point.

I'd remain of different opinon, though. Perhaps, you've lost track of how old these histories have been. Man City were promoted back to EPL since 2001/02 and have not been outside the top 10 position of the premier league since the 06/07 since, which is about 13 years ago. Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest haven't had a privilege of EPL football sine 1998/99, 20 years ago.

I'm not saying that their past achievements were/are worth nothing, but they are irrelevant when you bring up debate about current big teams.
Would you rather consider Man City and Leicester City to be a bigger club than Liverpool simply because they've won more League titles than Liverpool since it became the "EPL" ?

That was then football, Man City have proven to be a big team. They could still be falling short in European title but that doesn't undermine the fact that they are currently one of the best teams in Europe over the past few years. AC Milan and Man Utd are no longer even competitive in their respective leagues, let alone getting a ticket to play in the champions league.

If your classification of big teams is based on the fact that their ancestors have at some point won or dominated Europe, then you'd have to consider Marseille, Hamburg, Nottingham Forest, and Steaua Bucharest all to be a bigger club than Man City, which in IMO is bullshit.

It's good to have "new kids on the block", cause seeing the same names on the top is boring to me
I'm a big opponent of the proposal that the Champions League has to be reserved for the top European clubs only, if they success with their intention, you will never see a club like Atalanta in CL....

Some LFC fans I've talked to online (not this forum) seem to act like they're football royalty.  Lolol.

Well.. To be perfectly honest, I think some fanbases do represent football royalty. Liverpool's is certainly among them, and I'm not talking about every supporter that is riding the waves of success and changing clubs. I'm talking about the ones that stand with the club through thick and thin, through Rome and Hillsborough and both through Hodgson and Klopp with the same drive. Liverpool IS special. But that does not mean anything when you step on the field and has little to do with results.

There are not many clubs like it, and not many fans like ours. I would think Liverpool is the biggest club in the world if we played third division and never won anything again - but I guess that is what fans do. And yea, I'd still watch Conor Randall failing to cross a ball against Plymouth Argyle. You don't choose who you fall in love with Grin

Well I won't be that rude but I will say we are doing very well this season and deserve the title. In fact we are playing good football from last few years. Just could not managed to get an epl title yet.

^ Poch's biggest test is when Real starts snooping around and offers him a big money move to Madrid.  Grin

Let's win the first one before we start even thinking about power shifting.

Yes, we play good football and yes, this really smells like it's our season. I just don't want to get too cocky before we actually win anything domestically.
The last trophy we won at home is still King Kenny's Mickey Mouse cup way back in 2012.

Way too little to be talking about a power shift. Let's be humble and keep talking on the pitch only.

Mmm...  Dunno.  It just feels like it.  But yeah, let's see.

Thanks! I'm from Croatia but I do watch a lot of Premier league Grin

Yeah, I read these rumors but honestly - I think Spurs will recover. They are in a short-term blip, nothing is going their way and every chance the opponent has results in a goal. Lloris is prone to mistakes but they will miss him and it is true that Eriksen is playing horribly - I would not be surprised if Poch benches him soon. They have an easy game on paper in CL against Red Star and enough time to sort their heads so I think they will be in a better state at the time of that game but we are at home and on fire so again, I expect us to dominate.

I'd be happy with 4 points from both, although I think that we can get all 6.

This is a big test for Poch. Can he control the problem he has and can he wake up his team and back to winning road? They have solid team, but they never won an important game. Just remember Leicester win season and last CL final. Everyone is a great manager when all things going well, but the skill of getting out of the problem is essential. Ole doesn't have that skill for sure.
I am not sure is it true about Eriksen and Vertongen, but it is obviously that is something wrong there. The manager needs to clean up this mess even if they need to sell big star player.

Mate, I really enjoy your posts. Are you from the UK? (Sorry if I’ve asked before, my short term memory is awful - bad car accident at aged 21).

That’s right, it was Anthony Gerrard, we missed two pens in that shootout, unbelievable we still won it. Adam’s penalty is still rising now Cheesy

I’m confident we’ll beat Spurs, they seem in a real mess atm, there’s a load of social media rumours about fall outs, Vertonghen sleeping with Eriksen’s wife etc. It’s just this United game that concerns me, we should win, we’re a much better team but it’s a Derby.

Yeah, these games can never be judged by position at the table. Man Utd are still a pretty good team on paper and if they up their game, they can surely cause problems.

What they lack for a while now is tempo, and that is something that is hard to create for 1 specific derby. So, I still think we will dominate the flow of the game but we have been winning for so long already that we have to slip somewhere. United seems like a perfect fit, but I still feel really confident going into this fixture.

That game against Cardiff was a classic Liverpool one. I thought we lost it after Adam's penalty but good old Pepe never disappointed in the important ones Smiley
I remember Gerrard's cousin missing the last one hahah, must have been hard on the poor lad. Especially since Stevie missed, he could have had bragging rights for at least a day.

I was at that final against Cardiff, we were behind the goal that the penalties were taken at. But yeah we need to stay calm, great start but City won’t go away without a fight.

I’m actually a little worried about the Man Utd game, they’re shit but they’ll raise their game & do anything to try & stop us out of pure hatred.
