I think it’s just between the three of us for the top 3 spaces this season.
Challenge accepted!!  I hope you guys know the reference
Now I will double my efforts to dethrone you   Grin

Should have written this before last bunch of games since I had good week (also cool 98 points in PL Fantasy). Now after writing this I can already see rubber duck next to my nickname.

I just can’t shake o_e_l_e_o & panjul atm, I think it’s just between the three of us for the top 3 spaces this season. Going to have a think about my predictions for this weekend in a bit & fill them in.

We are coming to the end of premier league, not many weeks left, I was 18th on the beginning, now I am in top ten with 10 points difference to 5th place, I was about 17 a week ago, so anything is still possible in this fight although I don't expect to win anything this year.

I have been really struggling the entire season, I'd clamber out of last spot but I'm still rooted to the bottom in a practical sense (20th but I think 22 and below gave up predictions a few weeks ago). Only playing for the weekly bonus now, to be honest.

8 more games to go but the trends are showing. Exact scores don't really get you up the table, as BitSat has one of the lowest Exact Point scores but is in top 5. The highest exacts are in top 5 but 1 is in No. 13. Slam points are almost what you'd expect, the more you have, the higher up the table.

So it seems to me, regularly predicting with the flow is worth more long-term than trying for upsets all the time like I did earlier on. Get the results, the close results and aim for high slam points.

Just watched second half of Spurs match and they were totally & utterly outperformed by Southampton. From what I gathered from reply of chances and statistic for first half, it looks almost like it wasn't same teams after the break. Congrats to Southampton, they fought bravely and deserved these important 3 points, which should help them with relegation battle.

I do love them accas, LFC and that was a really nice hit;) I guess I know I'm a sucker but it feels lovely to win big and you kinda don't expect to win anyway so it's always a nice bonus. My current acca actually starts with Palace so to see them lose to BRIGHTON haha, reminds me this is why accas are sucker bets.

Watford's very interesting... they had a really good run before they got smacked by Liverpool, so they might play with a bit more caution against City, but I hope they won't. City struggled in the last two games and had to salvage a win against Schalke in CL... so it's very clear that they don't have the best defence in the world, and all their losses have been against technically inferior sides. Not that Watford isn't technically good at all.

It's tomorrow I'm really worried about though.

I’m a sucker for a parlay (we call it an accumulator in the UK). I’ve always done them, I know it’s a suckers bet & I probably lose more than I win but it’s fun & great odds when I win.

I won a few bets last week but this was the best one (with Paddy Power)

@toke: Yeah, I have always done parlays, all the way back to early 2000s when they had e-gold bookies (anyone here ever used that btw?) and I would do quite well, but I never actually took proper count of what I'd win. The only time I actually could verifiably see profit  in hand was the 2016 season, because I opened 3 new accounts with UK fiat bookies with 10 pounds each, made Liverpool bets in Europa League on enhanced odds and ended up with a lot of money left over (would have been more if I didn't blow half of it on the final which we lost to Sevilla hahaha).

I do seem to be doing well on longshot single bets but I suppose 7 months of keeping tabs isn't nearly enough.

@Trofo, no worries, I appreciate you taking the time to explain. At one point, I tried picking 4 or 5 games and bet on different combinations for about 10 combinations of high odds. I'd regularly hit, and it seemed profitable until the favourites kept winning haha. I basically have 2 styles of parlays: either I back all the teams I'm very confident of, and this is usually after watching all of them recently and bearing in mind form, or I feel like I've researched enough to back an underdog, and then I parlay it with 2 or 3 "sure wins". It's interesting as a past time I guess, but it seems to bleed me, though probably not as quickly as if I bet big on singles.

@tokes, you seem to be the happiest of them all.

And yes, since you're all on the same mood, I'll share the sentiment for a terrible EPL weekend. Auba the idiot lost me a 9/1 parlay on Saturday. Liverpool lost me an 11/1 parlay on Sunday. All we needed was Auba to score the goal gifted to him on a platter.... and more verve from the Reds. Maybe Virgil needs to play striker for a bit.

@Trofo I've never tried for anything more than 40/1... but 500/1? You ever hit one of those? I'm actually looking at my betting performance this season and after over 7 months, it appears I'm hugely in profit from single longshot bets... and about 20% down from my usual parlay tactics.

Hmmm?  Did I get more points than everybody for the week?  I don't really check anymore.  Lol.

...  And quit the parlays.  They're mostly sucker bets, trust me.  Grin  But yeah I get it, they're fun.

Actually I did, granted only few times in about 10 years of almost daily betting. I'll just put up some extreme examples which will stay in my memory forever.

First I have to explain how I go about choosing my pairs and stake for the tickets. I start by browsing trough all the all available games from sports I like to bet on (mostly soccer & tennis) on a given day. That usually ends up with about 10-15 games on which I bet minimum stake (usually less then 1 EUR). This selection is based entirely on the feeling. After that I immediately eliminate few games and start looking trough statistics and other info like line ups for the remainder. Usually 6 games survive this selection. It has to be 6 games because I get much better odds when playing 6 games in local betting site. On this, I bet small stake of about 5-10 EUR. In the last step I chose one single bet or double in which I have most faith and bet large amount of money on it. Depending on my feeling of that given ticket and current financial situation this bet could be anything from 50-1000 EUR. Odds are always between 1.7-3.

I keep statistics only for the high stake bets and i usually manage to end years with small but satisfying profit. I have managed to win tickets from first selection few times in my life and they were greatly celebrated. First time was when I just started to bet online and I don't remember exact odds but I won all three tickets and got more than 3000EUR on stake of about 100EUR. With the way I manage bets that means that ticket with biggest odds was probably 0.5-1 EUR for win of about 2500EUR.

One time, I missed one game to win ticket with odds of 64000. Meaning for 1 EUR I would receive 64000EUR. That one I have kept stashed somewhere. Too make matters worse that game had odds of 1.4 and they missed 2 penalties. I had guessed correctly several games with odds of more then 5 on same ticket.

Sorry for a bit of a rant. Hopefully I managed to explain things properly and not confuse you guys too much.

Fuck this weekend!

Couldn't agree more. It was terrible weekend for me as well. That includes our pool, Fantasy football (fuck Auba & Pogba), side bet for Lpool to finish above City and betting. I almost finished it on a high note with one long shot (4 EUR for winnings of almost 2000 EUR) accumulator ticket but missed one game (I needed R. Sociedad not to lose).

Ah well, at least CL is near that one is usually much better for me  Cool

Well a shit weekend score for me in the pool, o_e_l_e_o & panjul closing on me rapidly.
Liverpool had an impotent 0-0 draw & now City are 1 point clear at the top.

Fuck this weekend!

@toke, 25 or 50 years, it doesn't matter for anyone who's below 40 years old or so, because I was 10 when we last won it, and it wasn't even the Premier League yet. Basically, it's all about memories we don't have, the stories we've heard from others, the stories we get to read about now there's Internet and all, but back in the day, it was the occasional pictures you'd see, a precious scarf from the 70s and 80s an uncle has in the room.

United love to see how desperate we are, sure, they loved it when we almost got there twice in the past 10 years, but we're also loving how many of them would rather lose to City and let them win then see us get 1 more.

I think you've to play football and experience a humid, dank, loud, burning, urine-stenched up stadium past midnight with your throat hoarse and knowing tomorrow's going to be a bad day at school to really enjoy this masochist pain of being the perennial overachievers - and I experienced all that with my local hometown team long before I knew who Liverpool were Wink

To each his own, enjoy the game as we know how to. But would we want to win this with a sauntering victory? Ask City which memory they loved best and they'll say it was when Aguero scored the goal they needed to win the league by goal difference. So yeah, let's decide this on the final game, final minute!

I think it'll go to the wire (and I hope it does, it'll make for a more exciting end of the season).  And it will depend on how both clubs handle the pressure now.

I’m desperate for this toke

Lololol.  Omg how hilarious would it be for Man United fans to read that.  Anyway, I'm leaning towards City, but I'm not really a hardcore City supporter tho.  So I'm not really into the 'you vs us' thing.  I just enjoy betting on football and watching it.

And I got a soft spot for Klopp, so I'd still be happy for you guys if you get your first EPL trophy in how long...?  25 years?

@LFC: I had a "glorious" view from telly (did I mention I finally coughed up money for a proper subscription? Too bad not in English), but the entire game was just a reminder of old attacking Liverpool. I mean Milner out of the blocks tackling Foster almost for a chance at goal? What a relief to finally be on edge of seat but because we missed so many chances after putting a few away. Mane goal of season, he deserves it that guy. And yeah! I put in 0-4 for Everton in our pool already. Won't mind missing it for 6-0 heh heh.

@Trofo, I'm like LFC, a good half decade older probably, but my adventure with Liverpool only began in the Houllier era. In time to see their Haul of Five, wonderfully young to enjoy Istanbul, and just so, so many great memories but I ache for the only title I haven't seen them lift. If we win it, I'll probably even make the trip to Merseyside just for that so YES, if you offered me the Bayern loss... I'd take it no hesitation.

And if you followed my other thread... you'll know Wolves lost me SO many parlays too. Frustrating to see, really. But actually it was Fulham earlier in the season that lost me a bit of money. Newcastle is the one making me bank actually, not least because they beat City at 17/1. My favourite bet all season haha.

A question for you big Lpool fans. If somebody offered you to lose against Bayern in the next Cl match but to guarantee you that Lpool will have 1 point more then City before last game in Premier League, would you take it?

We would only need to beat Wolves then at Anfield to be Champions. I’m in my early 30’s, I’ve never seen us win the title so 100% yes, I would take that deal right now.

Had a feeling you would say something like that. I actually hope Lpool will secure the title before that last game. Wouldn't be too surprised if Wolves take some points from that game. Damn Wolves cost me a lot of money (betting) and points (both in our pool and in Fantasy) with their performances this season. They play really well against top teams and then lose games vs. relegation teams. Will try to avoid them for the rest of the season  Angry

@buwaytress - Great performance, what a win. Me & my younger brother were there in the Kenny Dalglish Stand so we got a great view of the 3 goals in the second half. Had to squint to see the first two goals Grin
Saw then on highlights, Mane’s 2nd wow.

I tell you what will be a HUGE statement of intent - go to Everton a win. That would make us favourites to be Champions I think. I don’t have tickets for this game. My next one is Spurs at the end of March.
