Medals question was easy but choose to find what wasn't there @#$& ,wish I stuck with the default answer I wouldn't  have given a point away Cry

Other interesting question was the Water polo one, this one  I was nowhere near Serbia/Croatia...and wondering if anybody would have predicted Croatia to find themselves in the finals  Tongue

Well played cro2, enjoyed this Olympics  themed round  Cool

The bronze medal match at women's football ended with victory of Germany and Spain couldn't win any medal in that event.
Now, we don't need to wait for men's fooball final match to know the correct answer to the question number 6. The correct answer is NO and only 12 people predicted that correctly.

Spain missed the penalty to make it 1-1 in the 98th minute. 'No' was the expected pick after Spain's womel lost to Brazil. I thought Spain will have both men and women in the finals.

Kind of confused here because the last statement on that question 6 stated " with at least one them being the gold " and I remembered even before I submitted my answers where @cryptofrka said the question was purposely phrase that way to confuse people but then, the answer has already been graded even before the France and Spain final.. still confusing for me.

Oh I thought that 2 points or less is automatically eliminated. But now you said a lot of people need 2 and some more than 2. What does it depend on whether 2 points are enough or not since the rule states
I think you didn't understand cryptofrka correctly. All users need to have more than 2 points to survive.
cryptofrka said that some people need 2 points, because they have already received 1 point and he said some users need more than 2 points, because they now have zero point.

Yea makes sense, got that wrong, thanks!

What a crazy game between France and Spain. That's rough giving that lead away after 3-1. But it was deserved I guess as France put up all the pressure and dominated the game as far as I can see. Still though having a penalty against you shortly before the final whistle is always brutal.

Looking brutal in LMS standings, we still have 4 regular questions to go but a lot of people need 2 (some more than 2) points to survive. H2H's are looking horrible for most, so there won't be much to gain there as well.

Will be an interesting weekend ahead of us.

All those that have 2 points per round or less will be eliminated...

I thought it is pretty much over for me this round as it is looking awful so far.

Damn you were right about Serbia. Now USA still looks safe for a gold, but now our 52+ points selection doesn't look as easy as I thought too. If it wasn't for S Curry, we'd already be out.
Hah yeah, it went pretty much as I speculated. I expected the tough game, but not as close as it was.

@cryptofrka seems to think US will hammer France. I can't decide now. Maybe should bet on France as a sort of consolation if US don't make it Tongue
I think that it will an easier game for them than vs Serbia as I think they learned a lesson or two last night and will want to show everyone that they are undoubtedly the best team at the moment. So they gonna go hard from the start.

ll I was thinking for this question is USA have NBA. And yes, other countries have been catching up in recent years but I doubted to the level required for this Olympics. And yes, other countries have been catching up in recent years but I doubted to the level required for this Olympics.
Last 6 MVP awards were won by non-US players so yeah, things are changing. Having said that, NBA is basically unwatchable at the moment. Well, at least the regular season part of it.

The bookies have placed handicap margins at around 15-16, in BSFL it is 12,5. I think those with 52 or more take this one easily.

All I was thinking for this question is USA have NBA. And yes, other countries have been catching up in recent years but I doubted to the level required for this Olympics. I'm not sure how I'll think in another four years, but if I'm still on BSFL answering Olympics 2028, my life is probably too dull to be thinking differently.

Damn you Spain, by the way. Definitely a lot of people in trouble for LMS, I don't think I'm in jeopardy just yet, but tomorrow evening will paint a clearer picture. Trofo took a point from Spain so he'll be breathing well.

I finally got my first point after their loss, and we "no" backers were lucky for Germany's goalkeeper to clutch up during that moment.

I hope you're right, on paper they could easily win by at least 20 points, but I also don't want to underestimate France as much.

I thought we will at least be 40+ points up by now after the Brazil match. With how France played against Germany and the home crowd cheering them on to a gold, I do not see USA hammering them with 11 points or more.

I also have France to win more gold than Australia, so the more finals they lose, the lower my chance there. If the USA aint hammering them, they should not win at all

I'm quite surprised that they beat Germany. Whenever I watched (and I did more than I thought I would), they look weak and onedimensional.
They played great defense vs Germany but both teams don't have really wide rosters so it is possible. They can't play such defence vs USA who will be really careful after their hard win over Serbia.

This was supposed to be the toughest game, so if we expect them to win the next 2 easily, then they only need narrow wins
Dunno, when I was trying to figure out whether USA goes over 52, I considered game vs Brazil being the easiest one. Having said that, I hoped for maybe 25 points difference so 35 was a pleasant surprise.

Speaking of the toughest game for USA, I think tonight's game vs Serbia won't be as easy as many think. Sure, they easily beat them in the group phase but in that game they were excellent while Serbia didn't play as good as they can, especially when it comes to 3 pts and if they can change that, we might see an interesting game for a change. Hope that I am wrong though so I can count that point tonight.  Grin

I can only do it for the whole spreadsheet.
The 'problem' is that it now also allows you to download the spreadsheet.

This means that I have to disable this option before every new round (so you cannot downlioad before answers go live) and then remember to enable it again when we show the answers.

If somebody has another way, I'm all ears - but seems like the 'copy' option is now tied to the 'download' one as well.

Oh, I see. We'll, I think that someone will always be there to remind you to disable that option after each deadline.

Yep. It's all good now. I checked and I can scroll trough the whole text in a cell. Thanks for that!

Are you sure you can't do it for the whole spreadsheet? It's strange to be able to do it only for a certain sheet.

Guys, check whether you can see the answers on mobile now.

I did some changes, however it is some weird change from Google I guess. I will have to do it manually every round, so for some of these rounds you'll have to remind me Grin

We are counting gold, so both will count.

Example: We finish with USA and China on 50. Whoever has China, USA wins 2 points, whoever has USA, China wins 2 points. We won't take other medals into account.

There is still a lot to do, there have only been 242 out of 329 competitions, I have also included Japan in the TOP 5, they have now caught up a bit, the first place is in any case between China and the USA, I would have to check again now, but I have completely forgotten Australia and included France instead, it remains exciting because there are still so many competitions.

Medvedev out makes Sinner a huge favorite to cruise to the final in Canada. Overall not many questions settled before the weekend, but still a lot of action in BSFL.

Since I've bet against Sinner, I'll probably have to hope that Zverev wins the tournament.

Literally for every question there was an event that may or may not have had major impact on the final result and hence on our answers. Rangers equalizing gave the few who went with a draw a huge edge over the rest of us in regards to LMS and in their respective BSFL matches.
Some days are like that where things are up in the air and not based on how much research you do, that inherently is the nature of sports. If it was always down to what is expected a lot of people will be very rich from gambling, but the way the wind blows that day or the mood the ref wakes up in has a bearing on the final outcome.

I was undone many a times in the EUROs competition by the slightest of margins, it adds to the excitement of the competition too.

Things are not looking good for me in this round of BSFL, I made some mistakes and I was feeling sick the day when I answered questions Sad
I am already down 2:1 and I think I lost in last two questions, but I hope to win more points in next few days, every point can count in the end for better position.
This designer derbies are always hard for me for some reason  Sad

This round feels like one couldn't have done much differently in order to reliably perform better.

- Rangers tie the game in minute 94'
- Lyles caught COVID on Monday
- Quite a back and forth Panathinaikos - Ajax game, but only one goal (different day, different goal count maybe)

Literally for every question there was an event that may or may not have had major impact on the final result and hence on our answers. Rangers equalizing gave the few who went with a draw a huge edge over the rest of us in regards to LMS and in their respective BSFL matches.

Those are the outcomes where you can't really say that going with a Kyiv win was the wrong decision although it seems that the draw wasn't undeserved. It was quite an even game.

I don't know whether Lyles performed badly all the time because of his infection, but I guess at that level a COVID infection would certainly impact performance.

The set of questions was difficult to research because for the gold medal count question, you would have to go through all the remaining events and then find out who is the favorite. From what I gathered, China could still have a chance due to team sports and some fighting disciplines I think whereas the US has all these athletics events in hand. I have no idea where this is heading.
