wtf... I thought I put Sainz as the winner, haha!

Not going to whine, jayce has the same answer.

Edit: Cro put up a good fight, didn't realise the decider happened tonight. Blew a final quarter lead too...

Damn you seems pretty knowledgeable on this one, I cant wait to see ur answer on this question. I totally have no clue on this and this is the first time I've read something called 'Dakkar rally'. Well for a first timer like me, I didnt even care to google this up or his name because question stated that he is a several times winner so yeah you probably already guess what my answer is ( unless that is a trick question from cro2 team )

Not at all. I'm not knowledgeable, this is just nostalgia.

Even when I used to watch it, I didn't know names, it'd be my uncle telling me the cars and what they'd be doing (when fixing). It's far removed from F1, it's just the 2 men and their car. And there's no practice session either, you get a map at the start of the race and then your navigator has to be on point or you lose your way. If I remember from the 1990s, drivers even go out to fix their own engines/tyres/whatever it is so really it's a guy, his car, and his navigator. I know the team follows also and of course they have to because you can crash in the middle of nowhere.

In any case, the rally is quite close to my childhood memory because back home, dirt biking is also popular in the jungles. And I never drove a Range Rover but for many years in a past life, I learned to drive, eat, sleep, live, work in my very own Land Cruiser, that thing pulled me out of so many scrapes I almost belief my life depended on it. Nowhere near the rally experience but it's somehow nostalgic and related to me.

Anyway Sainz won in the past but no way was he a top dog this one, actually not won anything with current team. It's really his lead now rather than his rep that makes a strong case.

Slava Ukraini!
What is more surprising to me is the fact that he has a solid lead in the LaLiga pool and in the BSFL he can't get out of the relegation zone. A month or so ago I was right behind him in the LaLiga pool but after a few lousy rounds I fell behind.
It only shows how much different things prediction pools and BSFL. It's so difficult to be good at both, but so easy to be bad at both games Cheesy.

Forgot to mention I love the inclusion of Dakkar rally -- used to follow that on TV in my youth, and I think it doesn't get the love it deserves. This Sainz guy, I'm backing him to be a legend in this year's edition. He's already fallen to second place at today's stage so it doesn't look good on me, but I won't use VAR and allow this to take its course. He still has a healthy lead but more importantly, seems to be the least error-prone, so the penalties on the ones chasing should see him through.

He's 62. He had spinal injuries in his last race after a crash, has a habit of retiring races early but man his performance in this one...

Alongside sad news that a driver has passed after an earlier accident. Dakar is hellish and the drivers who brave it are something else.
Sainz is one of biggest legends of Dakar. And yeah, he is 62 already, but rally raids is one of rare sports where you can be competetive at such age. BTW, if someone don't know, Sainz is father of Ferrari F1 driver Carlos Sainz Jr., maybe one day we will see his son in Dakar too.
Sainz lost quite a lot today to main opponent Loeb, but still have over 20 minutes lead. 3 days remaining, everything still can happen.
And yeah, sad part of Dakar that almost each year it takes life of participants. RIP...

Croatia was in the lead whole game, but last quarter without a goal conceived brought Spain to gold medal
have to say that I almost thought it is over, when Spain scored two goals in last two minutes, and completely overturn the match

congrats to Spain, although Croatia deserved gold medal as well
and that brought me first point against cryptofrka, although he will probably miss gold medal more than this point

It's amazing how I keep losing in BSFL.
We had everything, 2-goal advantage going into the last quarter, won another sprint, we needed 1-2 goals in the whole quarter for smooth sailing.

We rushed it, made silly mistakes, and Spain's got too much quality for that. The winning goal is pure class.

Shame about the gold medal - it's tough to lose it like this. But I feel everybody would have taken silver before the start of the tournament.

Germany is losing by 3, so I can only hope it's a blowout there. My BSFL round does not look good at all.
dont worry its just 1st game ,,best of luck,

Oh wow! Me and mv1986 have only two different answers. It's the first one which will settle today (and I hope that Croatia will win as they are leading 5-3 in the first quesrter).

Oh man what a lousy finish by Croatia... We were leading the whole game and then lost it 11-10 in the end. Now I have a boring week ahead. Only if one of the top tennis players drop out early, I'll get a draw here.

Oh, sheriff, what have you done? You gave easy points to Trofo, your nemesis.

This is literally the headline for the next BSFL article, I can't believe the Sheriff fell asleep on duty, especially with the villains around town, what excuse could he possibly have ?

The second is the last question so we will have to wait to see who wins it. But whoever wins today is sure not to lose this round.

casperBGD - a lot of different answers between us, especially at the beginning. Today will be big for our duel.

I really didn't calculate that much or how many games they will play, because unforeseen circumstances like rain could come into play, but if you just search on Google or tennis explorer, there is a schedule for each round, for example in the WTA, the 2nd round will begin tomorrow and will continue on Thursday, while you the most they have for either Friday and Saturday is the 3rd round, so each player would play at least 4 matches before the supposed week ends.

Below is a proper infographic that explains it better;

Thanks, but you come too late hahah. This is exactly what I needed, I didn't have a lot of time to search for it.

Damn, submitting tennis is.. hard. Will they play 2 matches or 3, a lot depends on it - and it is impossible to calculate it.

I just sat down to submit and it feels like it will take me at least 15 minutes to properly investigate. I can't allow myself to make any mistakes here.

@chi20 : only 4 different answers between us and the first one is going to be settled today. Getting 1 point is very crucial in this waterpolo game. Now that I check my question again. I feel really stupid to pick all 5 on the 10th question. Its not really possible because women tennis tend to be very volatile so picking half of that would seems to be a better answer after all

He's a legend in the rally world, In another time, not the Internet, I followed the sports specials,  (e.g. Gillette Sports LA), always enjoyed the daredevil summaries of the Paris-Dakars, and the Spanish Sainz was already legendary.

Just in case, he is the father of Sainz who races in Formula 1. (fact for fans of the thread, surely fact that any BSFL team knows.)

By the way, in my Div2 the press correspondents of many teams never say anything... there is a lot of secrecy.  Smiley

Wow, it's pretty interesting to see that someone didn't even heard of Dakkar rally. It's such a famous rally. Before it was called rally Paris-Dakkar but it was such a long time ago that I don't remember was it really driven from Parus to Dakkar.

As for the deaths and injuries, unfortunately that rally is famous for it. The drivers know that but they still choose to compete.

There are only 12 points left to play for and this round will be difficult as I will be playing against the leader vd309. I need 3 points now to avoid getting into trouble at the bottom of the table. This will once again be an exciting round, I hope 😄

Good luck guys for this round 😃

submitted my answers, up to a round 12 with cryptofrka

two questions will be solved today, and could bring some points
rally being included seems as good choice, not following that close Dakar, but it is one of things that is playing on Saudi soil
Fiorentina vs Napoli playing on Saudi soil as well

seems that winter games will make transition to Saudi, better weather there in January
