I'm pleased we didn't sign Urgate because the guy has no respect and calling De Paul a dick sucker warrants more than a 10-game suspension. The Uruguay national team players has a long history of abuse, disrespect to opponent players.
You played football? I don't know how it is some civilized countries but I hear stuff like that and worse almost on weekly basis Smiley And I am thinking South Americans are even worse. Bear in mind that Argentina squad is one of the "dirtiest" out there. So I don't exactly understand why this incident gets that much coverage. Is dick sucker so much worse than "hijo de puta"? Which is like good day there and said almost every time some decision is questionable.

I play football. I mentioned it somewhere on this forum that I went for trial twice to become a professional footballer but I didn't have the money to pay my way through then, we say whatever we want in the grassroots levels because there are no rules or regulatory bodies, but on the professional level there are certain words you can't use on your opponent and calling him a 'Messi dick sucker' on TV in front of his kids and wife is a red line. If the FIFA disciplinary committee allows this to continue, we may have a real problem.

What is going on with crazy results in this round?
I dont have any correct answer so far, Argentina lost at home and other results didnt go my way, now I am really big underdog loser Sad
Tennis question was harder than I expected, but I predicted correctly for Alcaraz and Medevdev, now I am waiting for Djokovic and Sinner.

Go Czech Republic go, win against Poland please and save the day!

There hasn't been a draw between these two in 9 H2H since 1997, therefore I doubt there will be one tonight. Czech has won four of their previous five games and is in terrific form, so I expect them to win tonight and will bet some mBTC on them as well. This game determines my chances of winning this round. I know Wales and Croatia would win their games respectively

That doesn't mean anything. I know that statistically it's not probable but neither was for Argentina to lose 2-0 at home against Uruguay. Now that I checked the group table, I think that Poland has more chance to win than Czech. They are playing at home and it's their last ticket to secure the 2nd place since they played one game more than Czech. I guess we will se how it goes but I hope Czech won't win so that I can keep dreaming about a victory in this round Smiley

I can't compare the teams' histories honestly because the Poland-Czech Republic games have always been one-sided, but the Uruguay-Argentina h2h is the polar opposite. I know you want history to flip suddenly in your favour, as everyone who chose Poland or Draw would hope, but I was simply quoting history and facts don't lie, and tonight is not the day. Czech is the underdog at 3.05 odds.

No disrespect intended to the Uruguay national team, but I'm sure none of the players expected to win against this insane Argentina team.

You know what I learnt today? Dejan Kulusevski is... Swedish!

I literally thought I was alone on this new knowledge, I had to doublecheck if it was the same Dejan Kulusevski, I don't know I didn't know for all this while, was this is first international cap ?

Just checked and it's 18 caps... stretching back to last EURO..! So I'm really surprised I didn't know it too, I really rate him as a Spurs player, just always assumed he was Balkan from his name, and also I do follow results, just never really paid attention to player names until his popped out last night.
Really guys, I expect more from sports fanatics Smiley I knew he was Swedish while he was still playing in Parma, I believe on loan from Juve. He is younger than he looks, but he is playing from Sweden since begging, passed all their youth selection, after he decided to play for them instead of Macedonia. I think there was some involvement from Ibrahimovic there or maybe just the press doing its thing.

So Sinner won against Rune and that should be enough for him to qualify for the seminar final. That's a point for me due to Buwaytress making a mistake while submitting his answers. But the problem is that Uruguay managed to win 2-0 against Argentina which us something I didn't expect. After all, Argentina is the world champion so I wonder what happened there...

Yeah, but to be fair, even if I entered correctly, you'd still win (my Rune vs your Sinner), so deserved point for you =) Now please Lewandowski, take it easy tonight and let me win =D

To answer your question, what happened to Argentina was Darwin Nunez. It's not just the goals he's getting in internationals but the way he plays there. Imagine Klopp pressing + Bielsa aggression (Slaman you were right about him, say what you like that he runs teams in league but he is perfect for international). Nunez literally terrorises defenders, and while Argentina are no strangers to that, this is a new level of Uruguay offence that is a huge departure from Suarez+Cavani style streetsmart football. It's the most direct lineup I've seen in recent times from S America.

Still, we've risen against the odds before. I desperately need a win for Poland tonight - I think the odds are in my favor for the remaining 2 different questions.

Bunch of us went with a draw tonight for the Poland - Czech game, myself included. And since buwaytress went with Czech, I hope we see a draw. I really need this point because if Czech wins, I can hope for a draw at best.

The setup for the last two questions that will decide the match between me and Slissy is actually quite awesome for a hedge, as I just noticed.

There are four games, which is the two qualifiers for Wales and Croatia and I picked "no" for both winning their matches, and I said Alcaraz over Zverev. Since the latter only works out for Slissy when both Medvedev and Zverev win their games, I am in a comfortable position to hedge at very high odds:

I am not really going big here, but turning 12 bucks into 100 bucks is still cool. Total odds are around 8.5. @Slissy, you can only win if my bet slip hits 4/4. Otherwise I am taking home the 3 points. It's interesting how valuable it can be to take the lead after the first three or four questions by just 1 point as it opens up these hedging opportunities at pretty low cost.

For the first time this new season I am ahead of my opponent and I see the tennis question, his answer Rune is out, so I am 3-0 with 2 different answers left. Good game vd309, I didn't expect it but I think this round was equally split between favorites (tennis and cricket) and upsets (football Euro and WC qualifier).

For football, I found it very difficult to betray Messi but I knew the true Argentina would not show in the team but through Bielsa, and it proved correct.

South Africa played miserable in their round against Australia, and is close to lose semi-final
Australia needs to go over 212, which should not be a problem for them, as live odds suggest, with @1.16 on Australia to win

It ended as expected but it was way way closer than the odds suggested to be honest, Aussie won this with only 16 balls left, in general you get 215 runs at this stage, it's a really bad score. Then again they were chasing such an easy target they probably played it safe.

Damn, Argentina losing at home and only 1 card in the last 20 minutes of the Colombia - Brazil game.
Trailing again, and with a mistake in tennis answer (which I lost as well), I need a miracle to win this round.

Still, we've risen against the odds before. I desperately need a win for Poland tonight - I think the odds are in my favor for the remaining 2 different questions.

Lost this round way too early, guess time to sack the manager to try to get better results before league concludes.

Congratulations @goodpunt, never thought Bulgaria and Uraguay would make this round an easy win for you..honestly feel scammed by that  Argentina performance Cry

Not a single participant of any division went against the odds in both events Argentina - Uruguay and Colombia - Brazil. Who would have thought that despite Colombia turning around that game there will be no more than 4.5 cards? And Argentina losing is also a surprise.

Usually, south American ball games draw way too many fouls to make it easy for the card market to see a good number of them shown, and with Brazil not having any fight left in them, it was inevitable cards shown would be low.

@slissy now it is official that there will be no draw for us. Two remaining different answers and I still have the 1-0 lead. This is again a round that pays off to those who have been a little bit more brave.

Argentina losing against Uruguay, Brasil lost against Colombia, not an easy round to match
TBH, did thought a bit about Uruguay not to lose, but chosed other underdog (South Africa), and managed to lose both questions Smiley

/snip

I also thought about going with Uruguay not to lose, but they were playing away against the team that is the champion od the world! Who would have thought that they will win 2-0? If Uruguay was gonna play at home, I would probably go with them. Oh well... One point down with only two more different answers so it will be tough right to the end.

Rune managed to hold the 2nd set although that was actually pretty close. I really need Rune to win this round against Sinner otherwise Im going to lose another point because of this. 3rd set and Rune is catching up with Sinner. Anyway I just realized all games in Group A ended up with the 3rd set except for that one game from Sinner against Tsitsipas. I should have bet over 2.5 sets on all those games

It's 4 games apiece now in the 3rd set and pretty much anybody's game now more for Rune than it's for Sinner, because Sinner seem to be have some lower back issue during that second break and Holger Rune could take this advantage if he extends the rally much more to different part angle of the court with very low shots.

Did not expect Bulgaria to comeback win draw this tie... not after playing most of the match a man down! I wasn't even surprised about Azerbaijan winning (incidentally making it 3-0 AFTER surviving red carded too) and Georgia almost beating Scotland -- I've been singing the praises of these Central Asia and Caucasus teams for a while, at the same time believing that Scandinavian football is regressing.

Meaningless to my round, though I'd have liked to build my goals scored count. You know what I learnt today? Dejan Kulusevski is... Swedish!

Oh, and India-Australia cricket final. Surprise...

Surprisingly, I had Sweden to score over 0.5 since I didn't trust them enough to win, so I added the nasty 1.18 odd to my ticket and ruined the entire danm ticket. How the heck are Sweden two goals down at 60 minutes against Azerbaijan with a red card in the 50th minute and yet going on to score the third when I was expecting Sweden would at least get a consolation goal? At this rate, I can't put my trust in this squad. Never.

Got the cricket question right - I will put some mBTC on India to win Australia.

Geez, thats mean I lose a point on this

Jannik Sinner with a blistering first set of tennis, He's got it by a 6-2 score, going by the first set, this should be an easy wrap for the second set as well, and that would see Rune eliminated from the tournament, I can only hope Sinner doesn't get complacent just yet, the job is never over until it is over!
