I see that nobody was able to predict Germany's reaching the finale by eliminating USA in the answers within the format. One should really take their hat off to the work Germany did today. Even though USA didn't bring their very big stars to the tournament I think they had the best squad of the tournament by far. However they were far behind their opponents in terms of team play. Gauff's winning tomorrow in women's finale would be great for me. Sabalenka's winning by 2-0 would be my nightmare. Smiley

Serbia is at +13 on HT, good thing that we both have Canada, so I can cheer for my countrymen's without thinking about points

So Serbia just won against Canada and there goes one point down the drain. I knew that Serbia is killing it on this World Cup but Canada also played pretty good and I really thought that they can beat them. Now I need other two answers that arallmuus and I have different go my way. Otherwise I will lose this round.

Looks like Coco's exceeded expectations and got to her first US Open final. I guess this is a rare WTA final where top 3 seeds are in. Sabalenka dropped the set I needed her to (0-6 on the get go is NOT how I foresaw that though!) so this is finely poised. Coco wins and casper you get the point. Sabalenka needs to win 2:1 for me to get the point.

tough call, can go both ways basically
good thing that I need just a win, and if Gauff lose first set, I can turn to Sabalenka side to cheer for her to win 2:0, and get us a draw, if Gauff is back, I would change again to cheer for her

Tennis brings nothing for me as ralle14 is same answers on both men and women, so I have no panic from this. Hakan did another upset with Hungary, 90% of us failed there so weekend makes us all sweat:)

Thank you very much for your support. I hope that you can also manage to return to Division 1 next season. You have been going on really great so far.  Wink

I think I need one more win and 2 draws to guarantee but yes, that's assuming all others also win. It's crazy that we are so close to the end and still so tight. Very competitive.

It would be disaster to not make it back!!

So Sabalenka just lost her first set in the semi final game against Keys. I see that the whole match could have gone either way because Keys won first set 6-0 Shocked Both sets after that were decided in a tie-break and Sabalenka managed to win both. Now I hope she can win against Gauff but also lose one set so I get one point. If Sabalenka wins 2-0, both me and arallmuus won't get a point and will be left with only three different answers.

My answer is 0-1 sets but it seems my chances are lower than yours we know this is the final of course there are no easy wins each player will fight in each set
Our only chance to get points is to hope that one of the players gets injured so the game doesn't continue but it seems impossible  the chance is only 1%  Cheesy My opponent @DireWolfM14 answered 2 sets, no problem at least he got his first point while I already got 2 points and I still have the opportunity for other questions. Anyway, in the next season I am targeting a new division.

Coco fell to Swiatek last year... but she's on home turf and a year older now. Tough!

I feel very much like an asshole for not backing Shelton despite already saying it multiple times which is really weird af of me, I would have gone with him, I knew him defeating Tommy Paul was never a fluke, he was in great zone and shape mentally right now, and I would backed Tommy Paul against definitely. I really just didn't have the balls despite my concern for the overly clumsy Tiafoe.

I actually was thinking to comment on that yesterday and forgot. But I get it. I'll always bet money against Chelsea, United, in their games but I can't quite get to commit the same when it comes to H2H picks like in the pool or BSFL. You know almost for sure your opponent goes for the favourite and you win equal points for the underdog. Better to go for the same pick, and get a draw.

As already mentioned, we'll always try to add even more value throughout every BSFL season.
Last season we had Arsenal - Southampton promo, and this season we're focused on Newcastle's Champions League run!
I like this additional Newcastle Champions League BSFL competition!
With current Newcastle form it is not going to be easy to correctly predict anything, but that makes it even more interesting.

How is everyone doing in this round?
I see a lot of red color for first question, and not many members predicted to see Shelton in top 4 for US open.

There is absolutely no one who wouldn't love this Newcastle Champions League competition addition, but that's such a terrific group they've found themselves not going to lie, moving past the group stage would be quite a great job to begin with, but we are here for it!

Great, we will iron out the details when the time comes. Only fair you see the questions before we agree on amount and stuff like that since I am writing them Smiley Maybe I can also use it as excuse to make cryptofrka write them that week  Cool

No problem brother I'm up to the task anyday, anywhere and anyhow you want it. Side bets brings out the best in me.

Alcaraz hitting Bellingham celebration after the victory against Zverev is something everyone love to see. I want to enjoy another Alcaraz -Djokovic final again.

The female tennis was for me either Sabalenka without losing a set (she's allowed to lose one) or anyone else at 3 or more. It's actually surprising for me that we have 2 players (Muchova and Keys) in the semis with only 1 lost set so far. Gauff is the only one with 3 sets lost so far, with my pick Sabalenka still without a lost set.
Keys will be a tough opponent though, I did not expect her to walk over Pegula and Vondrousova.
Keys is also one of the very few players on tour that can match Sabalenka power. It will be a match full of winners and unforced errors. Was it the one we watched while driving from Montenegro? Can't remember if I won that bet or not, I think not as usual when I am somewhere with you  Huh #BadLuckCharm

Ige, PM me what sports you're good at. We're bringing him down!

Oh and yes for early submission as tiebreaker! Such a simple yet appropriate adjustment.

Glad all of you agree so far, wasn't my cup of tea before VAR but with VAR it will be a perfect solution. I expect VAR to be used more often now as well.
Also - considering that we'll be punishing late submissions with instant losses, it's good to have an incentive for early submission.

Love the Champions League side event, Cro2! Hope you guys have enough gas in the tank for the pool too;)

CL pool is actually my favorite, especially now with a little twist.

I was thinking between 0-1 and 3+, and decided for later, that is basically a bet on Gauff instead of Sabalenka
thought that whoever should kick Gauff and Sabalenka to the title, will lose at least one set against each of them, and they were already at one set lost so far (Muchova and Keys that are still in)

I had the same exact reasoning on this because anyone that choose 3+ set is basically betting on Gauff to win. She is already on 3 sets loss so far so it doesnt really matter anymore at this point as long as she win in the final. Its either going to be Gauff to win somehow or Sabalenka to dominate the whole tournament without losing I guess

Alcaraz was on fire against Zverev, looks that will be a great Wimbledon final re-match, as it seemed from beginning, but Novak is a bit favorite IMO

Still 1 round to go before the final but if they actually get to meet in the final again, Im betting my round on Alcaraz this time

I was really, really close to picking 0-1 sets for WTA as Sabalenka is so dominant, now I have to hope she drops a set each in the SF and final... casperBGD probably has this one though.

Yeah, each player has it's own way of trying to get as much points as he/she can. But I never thought about doing this just to secure at least one point. I always check the brackets and answer in a way to try to get as much points as I can.

I've thought about it multiple times but to sacrifice 1 for a guaranteed one, means you fight with a max of 3/4... you'd need opponent to get 2 wrong for a win. Legitimate strategy for a high draw chance though!

I also agree about the topic that sending answers early to be rewarded. I already shared my opinion about this topic months ago

I picked USA for the winner team on the last basketball question. But I feel like Canada will win the basketball championship.

@CLS63 you have my support for division 1! But jeremypwr can still win it, if both you and buway drop games. So I support casperBGD also Wink

I have a big feeling this round gives us a first title in division 2/3!!

Thank you very much for your support. I hope that you can also manage to return to Division 1 next season. You have been going on really great so far.  Wink

Or probably trying to secure atleast 1 point from the bracket and by picking both of those names, you are guaranteed to get 1 point from this for sure. Its just weird to do this kind of thing but I guess some people have their own preferences in playing this H2H question ( or they probably dont have enough time to thoroughly check the bracket lol )

I'm surprised that Shelton managed to beat Tiafoe. Tiafoe lost only one set in all four matches of the US Open but I guess yesterday wasn't his day.

The thing that matters is that both of us had the same answer on that question so our first H2H question is a draw. We will see about the second one. You have Serbia advancing to the final and winning in the end while I have Canada advancing to the final. I guess it will be decided tomorrow when Serbia is playing against Canada.

Regarding US Open, we already have 4 names in the semifinals only one participant managed to guess correctly @hakan2217  Medvedev, Alcaraz, Djokovic, Shelton

I guess the majority were going for the classic top seed of Alcaraz, Medvedev, Djokovic and Tiafoe huh

What's unique is that they include Alcaraz and Zverev even though these two players will fight each other in the quarter finals meaning only one player will qualify for the semifinals, I guess they don't have time to check the bracket schedule so for the next round it is important to check it.

Wow I like this! You guys are doing a great job in getting us extra way to earn some money or freebets. I didn't even bother to check out the CL groups until now and I must say that the Group F looks really interesting. I hope that Newcastle can use this break to get their sh*t together and start winning because their first game is against Milan who is on a pretty good run in Serie A with three clean wins.
