Haha great name Borneo Headhunters huh, should be good When your team score a header  In basketball team I watch couple of games and we (Türkiye) got a pretty good team and all off them fight to death so I picked them, but still I'm shocked after Canada's bad our good performance so far, 30 58 ht result and we are dominating in every way in the field.

Right, so basketball was something I didn't really know how to pick, but I made Canada my semifinal pick deliberately. I knew they would finish 3rd in their group, but their score average was quite high in Group A. Aaaand I thought they would be better players than Turkey, the opponent I thought they'd get in QF. Switched off the score when Turkey got a 12-0 lead ha so my hope there is over. So much for trying to get smart.

Good for me, my opponent will only get 2 correct max (USA and either France/Serbia who play each other later). I already have one from Spain, so we will at worse, draw this question, giving me the victory this round.

My team when I played amateur league in my capital was actually called Grasshoppers, but I understood at the time, this was a sort of relic from our founder's original local team in Switzerland. Back then I was not really too exposed about football outside but we also had funny names for amateur teams -- usually once it goes semipro then it adopts a city/town name because of funding.

My futsal team of my closest friends, we played for years, was "Borneo Headhunters". I use that name on my FPL =D

I really don't follow that competition and I always expect at least one of the favorites to slip up, but I guess it's different in South America than in Europe.

River Plate won 2-0 against The Strongest (funny name for the club )
Flamengo RJ won 4-0 against Aucas
Corinthias SP won 3-0 against Liverpool (not THE Liverpool, it's Liverpool from Uruguay )
Boca Juniors won 4-0 against Sarmiento

So not only that the favorites won, they dominated as none of them conceded a goal. Hardkorede and me answered "No" on that question so it's the same for me.

I liked the VAR system. It would be really great for some unexpected cases as well to change our picks according to that. In the end sometimes one can make their picks without looking at the latest news and this can even lead them to be disadvantageous already.

I changed my initial prediction from group leader to runner-up because the Netherlands scored the 1-1 shortly before half-time and I thought that that goal will break Georgia's neck and the Netherlands were overwhelming them all the time. Even before the game started I wanted to go with Georgia finishing the group 1st. Therefore, waiting turned out to become a disadvantage for me

I think we can put this discussion to an end with the VAR rules now being implemented. As I said before, the development of those questions never have been taken lightly at any point. It is a lot of work and considering how much time I sometimes spend researching the questions, framing the questions is even worse.

Great news about VAR, personally, I don't really mind and would not use it except in emergencies like if I accidentally submitted or if I suddenly can't remember if I wrote correct.

I should point out that I drew this round because I knew about de Minaur when I submitted with 1 hour left I think my opponent was one of the earliest to submit and had no way to know about de Minaur dropping out. So kudos to you leea, you "could" have won this round with VAR intervention

We can't do anything about it. Questions are checked at Sunday when we post them. There is a lot of time until Tuesday deadline and stuff happens. We don't want to give shorter deadline to accommodate all time zones and we want to have tennis questions. Every single tennis tournament starts on Monday and that is the risk we must take when making tennis question. I checked the tournament in question and Alcaraz was 1.01 favorite to win that match against Marozsan so I really can't take the blame for including him in example as top seed.

We could write vanilla questions but that seems much more boring to me. That story we give in front of question is just that, a story that helps you see our mindset and some of the reasons why we included it in the form. All those tennis questions can be made just in a way "We have tournament in the Rome, name finalists and winner". And now you are giving us problems because we want to do more? Feel free to disregard the story part of every question, only the question itself is important when answering and I already told that at least twice here in the thread. We double and triple check the questions itself but story part I am writing from my head and could have misleading stuff in it. It doesn't usually, but it could, especially by the time of deadline. Georgia game was scheduled to be played at 19h, we both checked it on Sunday and then both livescore and bookies got new info later on and game was played at 14h. That is something we did not expect to happen even in the wildest dreams. But we were lucky in the end and that early start gave no real advantage. Both games were draws at halftime and Netherlands was a better team in first half just like the odds suggested. I believe anybody who answered at the halftime had the same dilemma as those that answered early. For instance I answered early and was happy that I did not have to do it at this point.

Wait, I checked the spreadsheet and noticed that you still have a chance at taking a point since we have different answers in the last three questions.

This is a cool idea but I think it would be much faster for everyone if you could simply enable access to spreadsheet to people who request it, and after user editing you can lock it again.
I dont know f it is possible to unlock spreadsheet only for individual members, while keeping them locked for everyone else.

The Georgia question and tennis questions gave unfair advantage to those who waited a bit longer before putting in their answers, I still believe that the tennis question should have been voided since the Cro2 team knew Alex didn't even travel to the tournament before putting up their answers and since it was only two options question but that's by the way.


Nope, Alcaraz was already out of the competition when the spreadsheet was opened, and there was no reason for him to be included in that question; he is a top seeded player, and non-tennis fans were bound to pick him as favourite without doing any research. Many of us fell for it, and when I noticed it, I raised a flag, and my opponent was also unhappy with how the question was framed.

I still insist that questions should be double checked before letting out, most is of us are new to many sports here and those little tricks mess with our research.

Yeah, that's what I initially felt this was because there are some players that ones they are given options, they don't try to do any research hence giving their opponents an unfair advantage, that we all were against but for those that didn't both submit their picks, at least there is a player in this round that wrote just USA and Spain in the FIBA u19 question.

So, It would have been very fine with me if that was the case in this scenario, but that'd have meant you already knew he wasn't going to play hence making it unfair, but from the way the question was asked and I was sure that you guys had no idea De Minaur had withdrew even before question was posted here, so that's why it wasn't an issue with me at all, however, going forward including this type of question might to some players beat the idea of fairness because either of you who sets the specific question would have known the answer beforehand, so that's like being one question ahead already, which is why those type of questions might really not work, myself personally, is very much okay with such question since it's expected of every user to do their due diligence on each question, but then I'm not everybody, so I can only speak for myself.

Void questions will only happen in situations when we screw up and don't cover all outcomes. We also added some rules in OP about the way we grade forfeits in particular sports. Stupid situations happen but with each season we will have more checks/rules to cover them.

All the questions are double checked. For this round - Georgia game was scheduled to be played at 9PM and De Minaur was still a 3rd seed when we released them.

We can make them bulletproof - by releasing them on Tuesday at 3PM.
The questions would be better as well - because we would not have to guess a lot of stuff that we do need to guess right now.

We went the other way just to give you more time, because we don't feel it's fair to you to have such a short window for answering. You're also playing from multiple time zones.

It's always a balance - both approaches create some problems. We feel this way is better and we'd rather have more players submitting and having some issues with the questions than no issues with questions but people feeling more pressured by the deadlines.
