I actually really hate posting in the same thread back to back but the activity here requires it sometimes, and just to say, first time in my life I'm following U19 football minute by minute, so well done Cro2 for making me waste my evening on TEXT commentary football haha.

I was in a real bind here. France scored the 9th goal of the night with 10 minutes to go, which took me 1 point clear against vd309 as I selected "9 or 10 goals" ... on the other hand, I had a 10/1 acca that hit only if Italy won. But for them to have done that, they'd have needed to score 2 goals, taking my point away and giving this round's advantage to vd309 who picked 11+ goals for his question.

In the end, I actually feel much, much, happier to win this point, rather than the $100 I'd have won if Italy managed the comeback. See how much I prioritise this league?

Back to the Joker issue -- I want to clarify my view is that that it is a very minor thing, and we must see the cost-benefit. It would add complexity to Cro2's job, and while I personally enjoy the idea of them working hard every night to make us happy, I would rather seamless competition overall to sacrifice the small likelihood of the Joker being legitimately useful (you know, the way I prefer VAR to be gone and suffer the rare consequence rather than put up with VAR delays every game).

Happens to me too when I have different outcomes in BSFL and on my tickets.
For 100$ though, I guess I'd pick a winning ticket Grin

Regarding Jokers - it isn't that much work to be honest. It can also help if you realize you submitted incomplete answers.
We'll think on how to implement it best and let you know, maybe even before the next round.

I already said it on this thread over and over again, that I'm done with Tsitsipas until he gets back to the form that made and got him to number 5th in the world men tennis ranking.

Dude was top seeded so he got a pass in the round 32/ first round, but at the first opportunity he gets, he's out ?! what a clown man has become...

And precisely that decision gave you one point against me. I decided to give him a chance for one last time and he screwed me again. I hope I'll do better in the basketball u19 and F1 questions so I can claim my second win in the division 1.

I hate you Fraaaancccee, I had selected 8 goals and under and according to the law of destiny, this should have been the correct outcome but French goals carried the whole average up and so now, it looks like I'm drawing with leea as that was the only answer left different in this round.

Another draw for me, but at least it is matched with 2 wins, so I don't feel so bad, in fact, I see many of you with points and I just have 2. I guess I should be lucky to get a draw from so few points.

Also, I hate you Tsitsipasssssss.

I knew Tsitsipas would let us down, but I still took him to win, as I thought this would be his road to recovery. Tongue Surprisingly, almost all the seeded players in that tournament are already eliminated.

Nothing worse than opening BSFL spreadsheet after few days and looking at sea of read in front of your usrname.
This are terrible results for me in this round and I have only one correct answer and I have no chance against my opponent Sad
I expected better results but I am not going to blame anyone for my bad results.
Congratulations ralle14!
I can relate to that, as i've gone through the same wave of reds when I faced leea last week. We had so many different answers, and that caused a quick ending.

Thanks, and hopefully, you can bounce back on the next round.  Wink

@cryptofrka I like the Hawkeye-inspired 3 chances per season. But since we have short rounds, and these are meant for emergencies, perhaps only needs 1 chance per season? Again, I hate overthinking and overcomplicating but it might be something useful down the line (I don't mind the current system, I think the risk of missing a deadline is big enough to not push too close even if I did take the risk this round). I really wish VAR in EPL was given this too. Manager can have 3 VAR reviews per game.

I like the idea as well and I think in order for Trofo and cryptofrka to have as less additional work to do as possible because of that solution, everyone should be bound to posting that change here publicly before the deadline. As long as the post arrives in this thread before the deadline and then gets quoted once by either Trofo or cryptofrka, it would count as accepted. The quote doesn't have to be before 19:00 forum time, but some time around that and I also think that there are enough active eyes here to ensure that no edits have been made anyway.

As for the number of jokers, I think I would vote for 2 despite the rounds being short. I wouldn't mind 3, but I think at least two because one can be spent whenever somebody wants and still has 1 in reserve for critical moments. It would be really bad if it happens twice and something is on the edge in the last two rounds and a loss is inbound due to such an issue.
No need for quotes, you can see when the post has been edited and if it is it will not be accepted. If we implement it we will just change answers manually in the table and it will be up to the person that submitted change request to double check that we did not miss it. Post will always be available to reference since it must not be edited.

3 seems like good number for season when it starts but we will probably limit it on less if decide to implement it this season.

But one thing comes to my mind: to save jokers, someone could just wait and check the thread here if information was missed or not searched for that will then be revealed by someone else who uses a joker. Is it an issue? Maybe via PM is better? I still think that someone doing the research should have an edge over someone leaning back and wait maybe?
There isn't a good solution. We can't stop you from writing things in the thread like De Minaur situation in this round. If I was participant I wouldn't mention it before the deadline for example. If you guys send PMs there is no accountability. How can anybody check that we received a pm on time? Or how can we prove that somebody did not send pm when he claims he has?

In the end it all comes to commitment and fair play. We made penalties and rules in such ways that top players with utmost commitment will rise to the top and those that take it casually will drop to lower leagues. That will give us a couple of great leagues and lowest division just for fun. This season we did not have a single round where everybody posted answers on time, while we did not have anybody from firsts division miss the deadline. Numbers don't lie and I expect the divide to grow as seasons progress.

Every addition makes things much more complicated and has some negative effects as well. We will double check everything before committing to changes. There will always be players that want to game the system.

Im definitely not into this whole "Joker" thing but ill probably be in the minority as it goes. I like the competition the way it is doesn't matter what the sport is, if you got the wrong answer deal with it. Yes it stings when you're wrong but it'll force you to focus more on trusting your handicapping and research skills. But thats just my two cents.  Grin Grin

what happened between Spain and Lebanon, had to check the score several times, it is 102:20
man, I didn't expect from anyone to play as that, even USA won over China some 20+ difference, not by 82
France - Madagascar was also kind a massacre - 119-56 or 63 points difference. But I really can't recall team scoring 20 points at such level. After all, this is World Championship and Lebanon isn't worst team in basketball. How bad you should be to score 20 points in whole game, I think the me with my friends wouldn't do much worse Cheesy

I have been watching the game for a couple of minutes and I seriously can't even recognize Tsitsipas. I know that surface makes a difference, but that it can turn a player into a completely different player is difficult to grasp. Maybe he is gearing up his game now but so far it was the Tsitsipas on grass that most of us expected.
It seems that after Tsitsipas started relationship with Badosa, his performance went down so much. Can't believe it's coincidense.

@notblox1 I really don't even don't think Trofo is the one in charge of setting this question and as far Esports is concern it's almost synonymous to tennis, no average middle aged guy loves Tennis outrightly, but we are forced to learn more about them and all I can say after a couple of months of consistent viewership is that I'll definitely take some Alcaraz vs a below 30 ranked player now rather than watch Brighton vs Chelsea football come the regular football season, but still I barely put my money on Tennis because the odds and chance doesn't correlate in my opinion.
Don't know, I follow tennis with pleasure, though my knowledge doesn't helps much on BSFL. I often have turned on some tennis tournaments on TV in background during daytime when there nothing more doesn't happens. I even would like to see WTA tour questions sometimes. But I really hate esports and everything what is related with it - simply not my thing. And my answers to esports questions is more or less random - it's really difficult to make research when you don't undertand thing and have zero interest in it. But still, don't mind all these esports questions.

Tsitsipas just proved he is not anywhere close to being top player, one can have worse play on some surface, but he can't even win any match on grass, not being considered as title favorite
maybe we will see next round question about Tsitsi having first round drop-out at Wimbledon?

U21s headed for low-scoring goals... and FIBA is going as expected, I made my picks including Canada despite getting third in their group, I thought they would easily meet Turkey, and it seems to be the case, where I'm hopeful they can beat the Turks. I'm actually 4 points out of 5, not bad -- but haven't even been tested because vd309 also has the same answers so far. Tonight's U21s headed for low-scoring affairs so we might draw on that (both not getting a point).

And yes, tennis. If I'm not dreaming, think I read somewhere Tsitsi actually chose this "easier" tournament to try and get a win and some confidence back. Backfired.

If you think he's a disappointment in the past year of BSFL, you're wrong -- he's been disappointing fans for much longer than that. Have even a personal history where I backed him more than most to take over as the new generation of greats. How wrong I was.

Ha, I'm hoping Tsitsi goes down today that would be great. Grin Grin

Ya I been seeing he hasn't been in the best form as of late that's why I picked him not to win the tourney. But who knows maybe he turns it around.  Grin Grin Grin Grin

Tsitsipas is a great example that whenever you want to place a bet in a tennis game, checking the ATP ranking is not enough! Cheesy But BSFL taught me to pay attention to details here. He isn't worth a bet almost ever.

I usually just bet live so at least I can see if they bringing their A-Game or not. And I NEVER use ATP rankings as a guide. Grin Grin Grin

Oh man I can't remember how many times Tsitsipas has let mi down in this competition. I think that every time I went with him winning anything, I got it wrong. How the hell is that guy sitting at the 5th place of the ATP? Now I know I'll go against him when there will be another question and I'm sure he will find some mysterious strength to win just to f*ck with me.

Thanks, Tsitsi - never disappoints.

I'm now in the lead vs dbshck, he's got Germany to win and they are 2-0 down so it's looking good for me. Some goals in the next 30 mins are needed in the Euros though, otherwise I'm gonna lose that one even before tonight's games.
