Thanks, and hopefully, you can bounce back on the next round.  Wink
Thank you.
I think that lose from Trofo in last round ruined my mojo, so I need a win asap Wink

Due to popular demand and some recent developments which penalized early submitters we have decided to introduce VAR. Basically a way for you to edit your answers 3 times per season. Since this season is already well under way, we are giving you 2 challenges for season 2.
This is a cool idea but I think it would be much faster for everyone if you could simply enable access to spreadsheet to people who request it, and after user editing you can lock it again.
I dont know f it is possible to unlock spreadsheet only for individual members, while keeping them locked for everyone else.

It's not easy work at the backend, and we appreciate your efforts, but the questions should be double-checked before being released; there have already been too many promatic questions
All the questions are double checked. For this round - Georgia game was scheduled to be played at 9PM and De Minaur was still a 3rd seed when we released them.

The Georgia question and tennis questions gave unfair advantage to those who waited a bit longer before putting in their answers, I still believe that the tennis question should have been voided since the Cro2 team knew Alex didn't even travel to the tournament before putting up their answers and since it was only two options question but that's by the way.

We did not give any players here, you just needed to choose finalists and winners. And both Djoko and Alcaraz that were used in example played in the tournament.

We can also make a trick question and intentionally give you a player that is likely to drop out due to injury. This is sports fanatics league and we expect you to know everything about every sport  Grin

Nope, Alcaraz was already out of the competition when the spreadsheet was opened, and there was no reason for him to be included in that question; he is a top seeded player, and non-tennis fans were bound to pick him as favourite without doing any research. Many of us fell for it, and when I noticed it, I raised a flag, and my opponent was also unhappy with how the question was framed.

I still insist that questions should be double checked before letting out, most is of us are new to many sports here and those little tricks mess with our research.

The VAR is not a bad thing; I just hope that if we find ourselves in similar situations like this in the future, the game will not be voided; there was a similar situation like that with question No. 10 in the first season, round 11, where a player who was already out of the tournament prior to when the question was made was added to the question, and that alone caused many non- tennis fans a point, and nothing was done about it.
What are you talking about?

question you mentioned is:

10. We have a big tennis tournament played in Rome this week. Alcaraz had an easy time on clay this season but this is the first time that Đoković is playing in the same tournament with him. Everybody expects Đoković – Alcaraz final but most are undecided who will take it. Who will reach the final and who will take the title? Use following format: Đoković – Alcaraz; Alcaraz. This is a H2H question and you don't have to pick Đoković and Alcaraz, this tournament is full of surprises and it is probable that one of them will not even make it to the final encounter.

We did not give any players here, you just needed to choose finalists and winners. And both Djoko and Alcaraz that were used in example played in the tournament.

Void questions will only happen in situations when we screw up and don't cover all outcomes. We also added some rules in OP about the way we grade forfeits in particular sports. Stupid situations happen but with each season we will have more checks/rules to cover them.

Ah, the sport-lovers league, where the questions are challenging and the ailments are many! Although even I have my limitations, I'm ready to delve into the field of sports expertise. Consequently, let's see what type of curveball you have in store for me.

Just be aware that I may need to contact my virtual physiotherapist for assistance if you assign me a player who is prone to injuries. We must patch up such information gaps and dispel any lingering concerns. Even though I have a lot of knowledge, I can't seem to get the hang of predicting the future! Grin

Man you guys, so quick. VAR. Love it. Don't worry if implementation is shit, experimentation tends to be high on the shit count Wink Though with your track record, I don't have any reason to think it will be.

The recap and update on Sportsbet. Love it even more (only read it today haha). I actually remembered to go on Clubhouse TV chat today but seems like there was no session -- maybe tomorrow?

About keeping updates and news secret? Now I even don't mind giving tips on the forum (like someone did with de Minaur) -- because I could also be naughty and give a bad tip. Hint, hint, watch out guys...

buwatress, you're not opening my messages because I don't have any boobs?

Ah, I already read them on my notification (I get PMs to my email also, the magic of tech!) so I didn't even open them on forum. I might have even avoided reading the email msg if you did have boobs... I got your sidebet money, don't worry it will be put to bad use.

Yeah, that's what I initially felt this was because there are some players that ones they are given options, they don't try to do any research hence giving their opponents an unfair advantage, that we all were against but for those that didn't both submit their picks, at least there is a player in this round that wrote just USA and Spain in the FIBA u19 question.

So, It would have been very fine with me if that was the case in this scenario, but that'd have meant you already knew he wasn't going to play hence making it unfair, but from the way the question was asked and I was sure that you guys had no idea De Minaur had withdrew even before question was posted here, so that's why it wasn't an issue with me at all, however, going forward including this type of question might to some players beat the idea of fairness because either of you who sets the specific question would have known the answer beforehand, so that's like being one question ahead already, which is why those type of questions might really not work, myself personally, is very much okay with such question since it's expected of every user to do their due diligence on each question, but then I'm not everybody, so I can only speak for myself.

We can make them bulletproof - by releasing them on Tuesday at 3PM.
The questions would be better as well - because we would not have to guess a lot of stuff that we do need to guess right now.

We went the other way just to give you more time, because we don't feel it's fair to you to have such a short window for answering. You're also playing from multiple time zones.

It's always a balance - both approaches create some problems. We feel this way is better and we'd rather have more players submitting and having some issues with the questions than no issues with questions but people feeling more pressured by the deadlines.

So I'm not sure how that would affect me, because about the tennis issue, by the time I first opened the form and up until when I submitted pick he wasn't in the Bracket so, I just didn't know well enough that a player that isn't currently in the bracket is not participating in the tournament and the sites I quoted yesterday stated that he wouldn't start from the first round so I thought until is opponent was known, only then would he available in the bracket so that's on me and my knowledge of tennis, If I had waited for even one minute before deadline, I still wouldn't have come across his withdrawal information and it's most likely due to being an ATP 250 tour was why the news wasn't an easy reach as at Monday and very early Tuesday, because I did check more than 5 times. I'm just trying to reiterate that me choosing De Minaur was never a case of how early or late I submitted my picks, it's rather about how familiar I was with Tennis rules regarding player withdrawal, I've never witnessed a player withdrawing that early with almost zero information about it, or I sure do usually find them in the bracket with the withdrawal or walkover/retired status but now I've got a very clear knowledge of it, I'm very sure!, and the same can be said for people who have in the past picked players that were to meet in the QF or earlier as their semi finalist answers, while that could be seen as playing it safe to get at least one answer right if 2 highly ranked/seeded players fall in the same bracket category in early rounds, but what about someone picking players from different tournament last week ?

In essence, I like how much efforts the CRO2 team are putting into this competition, making it better by every opportunity that arrives, and I hope there wouldn't be any further complications caused by this implementation of VAR.

Well, personally I always follow what people write here in this thread. I have Telegram bot that notifies me about every post. And precisely that gave me the advantage in this round because someone here wrote that De Minaur will not participate in the tournament. So it was pretty easy to answer, but I still wasn't sure until Cerundolo won his first round.

I actual feel confident of my FIBA U19 predictions at the worse we'll get a draw on that I believe, but the F1 is a game of fate for me, and maybe I might finally get to watch my first F1 race that I'll full attention to, that's provided there is no Tennis game I prefer already scheduled for the same time.

About the news I don't think I can complain too much since a lot of players clamoured for it, so it's fine by me! A rule for one is a rule for all.

I hope there is a better solution like the form being editable until he deadline, but I don't know the possibility of that being feasible, and I agree this might be for the greater good, but I don't think I'm the only one who make some picks already after opening the form since progress are saved until I'm sure that I don't need to make any further changes before submitting.

And no, you are not the only one who chooses his picks when opening the form for the first time and then change saved answers later. I do it too.

That's my point because having made certain picks already and waiting until sometime early on Tuesday, it literally means we all aren't waiting for any further information that could influence our decisions.

EDIT: And for a slight suggestion: At the end of the season if there are players that cannot be separated points, SD, SA, H2H and other criteria that are already defined, should the player with the less VAR used have the edge ?

Come on Czech I need you guys to score a single goal and win otherwise Im gonna lose another point tonight Roll Eyes.

Edit : oh gosh Israel scored, there you have it another point goes to @Jayce

With 2 remaining different answers between us, you still have a good chance to get draw result with me

-snip

You know what, you really have pretty bad wording right there. You might want to change that to I have a slight chance to get a draw against you with 2 remaining answers and I need both of them to hit but Draw is obviously not the result that I want to if I want to stay in this division next season  ( not that I know if we will have 3rd season after this )

.Cant wait to see the end of our "derby" Wink

Even if I lose this round, Im going to beat you up on our next one Tongue. I hate losing especially not to you mate

We hope that the VAR rule will help and mitigate most of the problematic choices.

As you can see, we try to implement some kind of change as soon as we see a problem, with some things we'll be spot on and some will be shit and will need to be changed.
In theory this looks like a really good solution so we hope you'll like it.

that is probably usual practice Smiley
me also doing that, but I don't open questionnaire until Tuesday morning, looking here on topic what are questions discussed, but usually don't open the form before that, and answer most from gut on Tuesday morning, leaving few questions for additional thoughts or new infos during Tuesday and send just before finishing work day Smiley

Same here I started to doing the questions on deadline day, straight from the gut as well. I don't like VAR in real life but to each their own, I hope everybody's second guessing causes you stress. Afterall we are all opponents until the round is done for said week.  Grin Grin Grin

We'll see about the basketball. If you win that one, I think you will be the winner this week because you are already one point ahead of me. I hope I'll win that one and then everything will depend on the F1 on Sunday.

As for the new rules, I don't have anything against it. I think that it's not possible to allow some players (those who have not used their chances) to edit the form and not to allow others to edit it. Besides, it looks to me like more work for the Cro2 guys. They already have enough work so whatever is easier for them.

I already said it on this thread over and over again, that I'm done with Tsitsipas until he gets back to the form that made and got him to number 5th in the world men tennis ranking.

Dude was top seeded so he got a pass in the round 32/ first round, but at the first opportunity he gets, he's out ?! what a clown man has become...

And precisely that decision gave you one point against me. I decided to give him a chance for one last time and he screwed me again. I hope I'll do better in the basketball u19 and F1 questions so I can claim my second win in the division 1.

VAR rules:
-  Can be used to change answers in any round before that round's deadline
-  Can be used 3 times per season (2 times for season 2)
-  Send us your desired changes over PM or write in the thread and tag both Trofo & Cryptofrka, this is up to your discretion. If you trust us, better use PM to not clog the thread and give possible info to others. If you are playing against us maybe it is better to post in thread to avoid possible frictions
-  After you spend your challenges don't come and ask for more, whatever happens there are no more changes left for you

I actually really hate posting in the same thread back to back but the activity here requires it sometimes, and just to say, first time in my life I'm following U19 football minute by minute, so well done Cro2 for making me waste my evening on TEXT commentary football haha.

I was in a real bind here. France scored the 9th goal of the night with 10 minutes to go, which took me 1 point clear against vd309 as I selected "9 or 10 goals" ... on the other hand, I had a 10/1 acca that hit only if Italy won. But for them to have done that, they'd have needed to score 2 goals, taking my point away and giving this round's advantage to vd309 who picked 11+ goals for his question.

In the end, I actually feel much, much, happier to win this point, rather than the $100 I'd have won if Italy managed the comeback. See how much I prioritise this league?

Back to the Joker issue -- I want to clarify my view is that that it is a very minor thing, and we must see the cost-benefit. It would add complexity to Cro2's job, and while I personally enjoy the idea of them working hard every night to make us happy, I would rather seamless competition overall to sacrifice the small likelihood of the Joker being legitimately useful (you know, the way I prefer VAR to be gone and suffer the rare consequence rather than put up with VAR delays every game).

Happens to me too when I have different outcomes in BSFL and on my tickets.
For 100$ though, I guess I'd pick a winning ticket Grin

Regarding Jokers - it isn't that much work to be honest. It can also help if you realize you submitted incomplete answers.
We'll think on how to implement it best and let you know, maybe even before the next round.

As I have posted here before, I think a second hidden spreadsheet could do the job quite well. There is no need for Trofo and cryptofrka to prove any timely incoming PMs and it could just be made public like the official spreadsheet and everyone could have a look and we have perfect transparency. I would still stick to a certain number of jokers and not an unlimited number of changes because that could become wild and the goal still is to have people stick to the same deadline and do their analysis as thorough as their wish, but not at the cost of others. It also keeps the responsibility of gathering information with the participants and it solves the problem of the more lazy participants to just wait for requested changes to be posted publicly before the deadline and then make adjustments themselves.
