Why are you using VPN while there is alternative way to access the site? Stake have made two official mirror site for their users. If your ISP blocking Stake.com then try those mirror links to visit stake. One of them is Stake.games and another one is Stake.bet. Stake server rarely goes down and it only happens while they do some updates on their website. Before the downtime, they give announcement about it on their Telegram channel. Sometimes you may see ‘error code’, but stake team tries to fix that as soon as possible while it happens. This issue also happens rarely. Beside that you may face lags in chat because of the huge number of active users. And it happens during the weekly boost and monthly bonus time. But it doesn't create impact in games/betting.

Majority of the times I've used stake, it has always been available. The uptime is really good. Only on very few occasions that I've experienced some lags here and there but it gets resolved pretty quickly.

I doubt people would risk 50 btc only to get 5 btc on first place on stake. They probably doing that wager contest with bankroll less than 5 btc and then bet on higher winning chance. Not only whales, but those who early adopter in bitcoin should get more advantage from this kind of contest
