Cryptsy has already updated their Starcoin wallet to v1.7

We will be releasing a v1.7.1 either tonight or tomorrow that will resolve the slow sync/start-up times and the checkpoint too old warning message.

Is the latest source still at https://github.com/strcoin/starcoin ?  Most recent commit there is May 23rd.  Thanks!

Live like there is no tomorrow!
Well done people, keep StarCoin alive!

I might hop on mining again later on, as soon as I receive back my GPU..

Does someone have information about the profitability of mining StarCoin? When StarCoin was suddently gaining value months ago, I made nice money by selling some StarCoins I had mined during the period that the difficulty was really low Smiley.

You'll have to notify Cryptsy of the source change, and even then they may not switch since it's not official code.
I opened a support ticket with Cryptsy almost two weeks ago.  It's still "being processed".

They usually handle switchovers in less than a day. Might be delayed because it's not the official source, or maybe they just forgot lol.

You guys should try and track down whoever owns the official github and get them to merge.

Coinwars is reporting  Blocks: 811,395  as of this writing.. I see only 791,685.

coinwars reported 812,122 at Tue Jun  3 10:37:10 UTC 2014. I see the same.

for your reference:
Code:
starcoind getblockhash 812122
0000000192fe8a753a3b03f3a82bb8c9f815324a5f56a9805198b51473bddde0
starcoind getpeerinfo|grep addr

        "addr" : "24.176.222.222:18216",
        "addr" : "192.99.13.127:18216",

Try to remove the peers.dat file before you start the wallet with these nodes to reload the blockchain.

So that looks fine.

My wallet isn't synching again. Looks like i've got to add some nodes when i've got the time for it Wink.

THanks.. im in sync again and opening up the pool at star.minepool.net

CryptoBlox could set up a Block Explorer and Faucet for StarCoin.  Usually don't do these for free, but in an effort to raise this coin from the dead I don't mind helping out.  Any donations would be greatly appreciated though.  Smiley  Will try to have it running within the next 24 hours or so.

btw, we have a StarCoin Mining Pool already running on our site also.

Since there is no block explorer, can we verify here what block we are on now?

./starcoind getblockhash 790330
0000000440b58b5b48389266b376915b8fafd133dab481dfbbeb2468ebeb56c6

help verify you get the same hash for that block.

Cryptsy has not yet updated to the new wallet version.  As far as I know, Cryptsy is the only exchange that carries StarCoin.

Holy crap!  I downloaded the updated client, let it sync, unlocked the wallet and let it sit all night.

Woke up this AM to minted coins!  It's fixed!

Where can I find the windows wallet? I do not know how to build it.
I was solo mining this, but now I am stuck.  Thanks.

For now, Firebird2000, see below.

The team (as it is) is working on a Win32 version, linux build from source, ofc, and in due course a Mac wallet.

Any problems, please visit the #starcoin channel on Freenode IRC (webchat here)

Version 1.7.0

Win64: https://mega.co.nz/#!9dBynbaS!YEvnMIXoKMyyMzcMlldZoLyQX6-zyH3VP6a03kmkook
source: https://github.com/bee7/starcoin

After the time-wrap bug hit Starcoin at block 777855 again and finally stoped the network from producing new blocks the following changes to the protocol were implemented:

1) The ActualSpacing is bound by 2 seconds and TargetTimespan, i.e. 15 minutes
2) The PoW/PoS ratio is set to 1:3 (compare to the original one 1:12) to allow more PoW blocks as anyway for the last half a year the PoS was already broken.
3) The block trust scoring algorithm changed to target 3 PoW blocks among past 12 blocks.

Release Notes:

The Windows binary provided is native Win64 application cross-built using linux mingw64 environment.
It is built with BerkeleyDB 4.8.30 and openssl-1.0.1g. The builtin CPU miner in above mentioned build should not work due to some incompatibility between mingw64 and original scrypt implementation. Though, mingw32 version should work just fine. Feel free to build one if you need this functionality.

Please note, I am not going to be a developer of this coin, I just released a fix that may allow the StarCoin to survive.

So, let's see if cryptsy updates its wallet to this version.

Good luck.
