By the kind of "reasoning" I've seen in this thread, I could grab a few posts from BCT and claim as accurately that everyone who has any Bitcoin at all is a child molester, who huffs jenkem while shooting krokodil and ordering mass murders from assassination sites, runs a Ponzi scheme and an illegal and rigged gambling site, and is also, worst of all, an adult male fan of My Little Pony.

This is what Bitcoin actually believes.

Does a collection of uncompromising links in a thread to articles written by people defining themselves as feminists the very definition of *hate against women* in itself, thus making feminism's very existence justified even more?

Being a man keeps me from seeing the big picture Salon.com was trying to convey and me posting all those links compromises myself toward the female sex on a deeper level I will never be aware of forever.

I get it now. Wink

My wife loves the pink tools...

Different strokes for different folks, I guess.  The UO student is free to buy the more manly-colored ones.
I am on the verge of moving to a non-hate position regarding feminists; if in fact they uniformly advocate pink tool sets, as such would never be touched by men, even at the risk of divorce or separation.  Women who proudly bought their pink tools then have no option except to do massive work with their pink tools on their own, with corresponding increases in beer drinking and football game watching time for men.

Oh, by the way.  Those pink tools in that kit?  They look like really poor quality and poorly designed things that will break or slip at the times you need them most.  I'll stick with Easterling hammers, Klein screwdrivers, thank you.

What point are you going for there?

I try to prove Salon.com article to be factual using articles mostly written by people who tagged themselves as being feminists.

An exhibit at the “Feminist Museum” at the University of Oregon (UO) has attacked hardware stores for selling tools that have been painted pink.

Britt Bowen, a UO graduate student and co-creator of “Feminist Museum” told Campus Reform that fellow student Mattie Reynolds created the project to protest “the way that certain companies will target female customers by painting things pink.”

“I have this huge problem with going into hardware stores and seeing these traditionally ‘male’ tools that companies make applicable to women by making them pink,” Reynolds said in an article published in Daily Emerald, a student newspaper.

Salon.com is the author of the subject line.

Okay.  Then fuck Salon.  It certainly isn't their first stupid headline.  Apologies to OP.

The subject line is retarded.  It's like if you said "Everyone hates Republicans" despite the fact that at least 30% of Americans identify as Republicans and the 40% or so who are "Independents" universally hate them.  Even if you assumed all Republicans hate all Democrats and all Democrats hate all Republicans, which isn't true either, that is flat out stupid.

Salon.com is the author of the subject line.

Sweet lady christ Wilikon, all you keep doing is finding extreme examples of the people with the most ridiculous views out of all the daft wankers on the vast and silly landscape that is the internet, and posting them here claiming that they represent the views of most feminists!

It is absurd - all of you must surely be aware on some level that feminists do not believe (e.g.) that all sex is rape unless a contract is signed first.

It is very simple. If you believe that men and women should be treated equally - congratulations! You're a feminist.

Well, you might want to take that up with Salon, which wrote the article that has that title.

Although in their defense (and this is an important point) the studies in the article focused primarily on "activists."

A  professor who describes herself as “Marxist” in her official biography has accused a group of persecution for describing her as such.

Wellesley College professor Julie Matthaei describes herself as a “Marxist-feminist-anti-racist-ecological-economist” on the college’s official website, but accused a pro-business group of “red-baiting” for citing this description in an advertisement opposing minimum wage hikes.

“It was her description of herself that we put in the ad,” Michael Saltsman, research director for the pro-business group The Employment Policies Institute (EPI), said in an interview with Campus Reform on Tuesday.

EPI’s advertisement appeared in The New York Timeson Feb. 27 and included quotations from academic economists — including Matthaei — who had signed a petition supporting the policy.

“Suddenly you’re thrust on the national stage, and it was a shock,” Matthaei said in an article in The Boston Globe. “I felt I was being red-baited.”

For better or worse, I'd say the article in the OP is a more accurate reflection of mainstream opinion of anyone labeling themselves a "feminist" than the image that you're trying to reclaim.

Frankly, considering how far such nonsense has already gone, I totally understand why people uninterested in differentiating would rely on the former over the latter to form their mental image of what "feminist" means.

And again it comes down to... what are actual, self-identified "feminists" going to do to change that image?

Because feminists have no legitimate complaints (there are women CEO's, what else do you want)
You would be surprised about some feminists. This could very well be a troll, but I'm sure at least one person reading it agreed:
Quote
Allow me to introduce myself...

My name is Krista, otherwise known as "The Femitheist". I am a female, a feminist, and someone who believes strongly in True Equality.

Now, I will begin explaining this entry before I post the actual article... for your discussion, of course.

Women MUST and WILL have equality, and this is the ONLY way to achieve TRUE equality. The testicles of all males, which produce the majority of their testosterone, are the primary cause of their violent behavior. The testicles also attribute greatly to many of the health problems men experience later in life (such as prostate cancer and, of course, testicular cancer).

~:The Solution... International Castration Day.:~

It is my belief (which I consider factual based on my research) that all men SHOULD be castrated. Not only for their own safety, but for the safety of all innocent women and children.

And, to achieve this...

The entire world should have an international holiday known as: "Castration Day"

Males of all ages will be brought to the public squares of their cities nude, to stand together in a circle, as they await castration by a woman known as "The Castrator", who will be a woman chosen from the public much like a juror.

Girls of all ages will attend, lining the streets to cheer and applaud the males as they join the rest of civilized society.

It will be a free vacation for any working woman. And, young girls will be able to leave school to attend this glorious ceremony.

The males will then have one hour to get to know their Castrator. Their female "spouse" will also be able to choose whether or not they would like to milk the male in order to retain a sperm sample.

If the male is too young for a "spouse", their mother or closest female relative will decide.

After this, the men will be given anesthetics. They will be placed on a table, where their Castrator will then slice open their ball-sack, remove their testicles, and the excess skin, stitch them up and clean them up.

They will be given thirty minutes to rest after the procedure.

Once the males have all been castrated, they will be grouped together again for one last look before walking nude back to their homes.

The women will then return to their jobs, schools, et cetera, and rejoice in the completion of yet another successful ceremony.

Any man who tries to evade this holiday, "Castration Day", should be murdered wherever they
are found (treated as a criminal, as it will be a crime not to attend). Or, forced to attend.
Regardless of age.

Any woman who disagrees should be provided therapy in order to free her from misogynistic indoctrination.

This holiday should replace the day known currently as "Father's Day".

If this practice were adopted officially all across the world, all war, crime, and violence would end.

We would have a true Eutopia, where peace reigns, and men do only what they exist for...

Breed.

Labor.

SERVE.

Die.

Likewise, the change of their hormones would make them less aggressive, and thus less likely to rape. It would also provide them with better health throughout their life, as the testicles are a major cause of health issues in males as they age.

All will profit from this...

And, I believe this will come to be someday soon.

Thanks for your consideration!

Regarding my "extreme examples" why don't you contribute to this thread with everyday examples of feminists with fully funded organizations that share your views of how feminism should be working right now?
I was born around the time men visited the Moon and my mom was an entrepreneur with many employees all her working life, my sister is a one woman boss, in control of her life and her company.
Am I aware of women wanted to be treated equally? Sure I do. I just look around my family.

In this thread I am providing examples of the substance of this article:

If you want to believe Salon.com was absurd to even write it then you are free to do so. Wink. If you want to believe because I linked a stupid article I am the one who believes in it, then go ahead too.

I am not a sweet lady, but if you want me to be that fantasy in you head, then go ahead too  Wink
