I replaced an un-fixable die 0 board and it only took 6 days through RMA. My Jupiter has never run better.

Avenger...  Die 0 was addressed with the 0.98.1 beta firmware, and most machines were fixed with it. Other than you, I don't think there are more than a handfull more out there..MAYBE.   So to call that the "Biggest issue" is Total Crap.
okay we have...
1. Avenger  (Assuming he really has a machine)
2. Edgar....
3....?

Me. I have 2 boards that I am exchanging on Monday.
Bought the tickets already Smiley

Yes. I totally agree that they are liars. It's a fact so no disagreement there.

But it's not accurate to call them criminals if you "only" get a 450Gh machine when you paid for 400Gh one.

https://www.kncminer.com/news/news-40

We would like to say that after a very long stint in the factory over the weekend and with great help from our entire engineering team we are finally ready to release the figures you have all been waiting for, Jupiter is of course not a 400 machine it’s much more than that. Watch the video on our youtube site

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFOcI8nK2xI

Truth or lies in their official company newsletter to customers? If that is not an official statement, what is?

Not trying to be an asshole here but if a single die is failing the machine afaik still fulfills their promised hashing speed. KnC could deny RMA requests for this problem or decide not to fix it at all.

So be content if they're working on it. They could decide not to.
First of all, I refer you to their launch video on 30th September:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFOcI8nK2xI

"In August, we said 400. WELL IT'S NOT 400. WELL IT'S NOT 400. WELL IT'S NOT 400.

WE HAVE A 500 MACHINE HERE FOR YOU."

So the baseline they promised once they went from theoretical to an actual machine hashing is 500GH/s.

So either KNC are lying fuckers or this is true and every customer is entitled to 500GH/s, as promised on 30th September before even one single October order device shipped?

I also refer you to this picture on their website, which has been there since pretty much the launch video:

As you can see, there is a big red cross through the 400GH/s. You still following me?

So afaik, they are fucking lying asshole for trying to pretend they only promised 400GH. It's all pretty clear above we were promised 500GH, which is not possible to achieve with multiple die0 problems.

KNC party line recently:
Quote
We understand your concern regarding your miner not performing as well as others, however as your hash rate is higher than 400GH/s we cannot issue a RMA. We are continuously working on the firmware to improve performance and stability.
So I'll state once again, KNC returning faulty boards back to people who RMA's them and those boards collectively achieving less than 500GH/s is lies and criminality. They promise 500GH/s. That is what they deliver or else they are a bunch of fucking liars.

I've been holding out for a firmware fix, because I don't want to lose more money sending boards back if they are going to send me the same faulty boards back, as per SharkCat's experience. Now it seems in 11 days they can't even be bothered to fix the No.1 issue - too busy with their fire-sale of ex-RMA boards and getting their unprofessional trolls to insult customers.

@ anyone w/jupiter - what are you using for the 4th module with your V850s?

mine came with 3 'twin' connectors, so im using one connector 'twice' and it is HOT!

Twin molex to PCI-E is one solution.
Or I read that you can use one of the CPU slots to plug an additional PCI-E cable there (if you have any), but do your own research for that as I cannot be held responsible for any damages.

Btw if you send an email to Cooler Master to request additional PCI-E cables they will be happy to send you some. I'm currently waiting 7 to arrive:

Bless you, I'll email them immediately.

i saw the 2 molex - pci-e option in 2011 but not comfortable trying it on the jupiter

was curious what others are using - the twin method works but less than ideal, especially with an empty pci-e slot right thurr

what are you using to power ur extras, a second psu?

I would not use PCI-E to molex adaptors for a jupiter. those were designed with the 75W PCI-E limit in mind, and a single jupiter ASIC draws far more than 75w

Agreed, just use the 8-pin CPU connector, just upside down

Is this safe to do?  Cool trick.

They are already doing this.

Hi,

Apologies for the delay in reply. If the performance of your miners now average 500 GH/s + we are not able to issue an RMA. If your average hash rate is lower than 450 due to the die issue then we can issue and RMA for a replacement.

If you have any further questions please do not hesitate in contacting us.

So if they won't issue RMA for 500 GH/s output should they be advertising the unit as 550 GH/s?

The quote is also ambiguous.  So >=500 GH/s is no RMA.  <450 GH = confirmed RMA.  What about 450 to 499 GH/s?

So the biggest outstanding issue, as far as I can see, if the die0 issues. It is for me. Partially addressed in 98.1, but still far from a satisfactory solution.

11 days after the last firmware release, knc release a new firmware today that does nothing to address the biggest outstanding issue - die0 problems.

Is this it then knc? Run out of ideas? You aren't going to bother with a fix for the die0 issues for customers? Too busy making money on new orders and fire-sale of ex-RMA boards to take care of current customers?

Then you need to make an announcement saying that. With a promise that anyone who RMA's bad die0 boards will get a new 140GH+ replacement - no quibbles. And stop this BS criminal practice of sending back faulty boards if they can jointly hash over 450GH, which is what you seem to be doing. This is only fair, considering how much most people with die0 issues have lost now.

Who the fuck paid for faulty boards? I didn't, but that's what I got. Where is my solution?? Where is the firmware that addresses the biggest outstanding issue your customers have knc?

Get one of your shills representatives over to this forum to address customer concerns and start coming up with solutions for people who gave you the money to exist.

i know im wasting my energy but he's right.

i have tried everything, and still suffer dead die0 issue!

i was resigned to waiting upon the 'tuning suite' until 0.99 was unceremoniously served up,

tl;dr - meh (still)

What version bertmod are you using to get die info.  Since I left 0.94 for higher firmware I don't get die readings with bertmod.

edgar, TheAvenger

If you have tested heat, all firmware version including the unofficial 0.98.1-beta, enablecores.bin and it is still not running as expected,
you should be able to get working ones I hope.

Today I visited the KnC offices in Stockholm. Primarily to exchange all my boards with the Die 0 problem (...)

@who already updated to 0.99

What's your power consumption? Is it still at 0.98.1 (beta) levels or has it dropped? I'm also interested in what the VRMs are pulling (according to bertmod).
