All I did was tell Searing he did not need to replace his PSU because he has Y's coming...

and the sharp sticks appear poking one another.
One big happy fambly Smiley

EVERYONE SHOULD LOOK @ THEIR CABLES to 'KNOW' what AWG is used.
Things change and not all are created equal, even with same model #.
Blanket statements about models, brands, AWG etc. should be verified if possible.

The whole consumer modular PSU issue sux!
I already owned my LAST(never again) modular PCIe PSU for a miner long before the Nep shipped.
It is a SAFETY issue not limited to use with any brand of miner.

2kW server PSU delivered to door USD $50
Breakout board for 2kW PSU USD $60
(DIY folks can use $15 connector and solder wires direct)
16AWG PCIe cables ~$5 each.
Power cable for PSU USD $10
You also need a fan to cool the PSU $20

I use 4kW(2 2kW PSU) per Nep for 92% PSU efficiency.
I can run a nep on 1 PSU if I need to. <<--not recommended

The DPS-2000BB from ebay (watch out for shipping costs!)
The breakout board from sidehack/Gekkoscience.
PCIe cables from sidehack or CABLEZ.

The preorder period is over, he is assembling and shipping
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/price-reduced-dps-2000bb-2000w-server-psu-interface-board-637595

The only downside is the 2kW PSU are 220VAC.
For an extra ~$100 you could MAKE 220VAC @ home in the USA with two 110VAC outlets.
(The biggest cost is 12/3 extension cords you may already have)
Many 120VAC folks already use extension cords, same as DIY 220VAC.

There are also 750W server PSU solution bundles available.
4 @ 750 for a nep gives you one spare in a pinch.

IMneverHO
it is the better solution also @ lower total cost!

If your 'Plan A' does not include a 'Plan B' (spares when possible) it is a flawed Plan A.
Unless you just mine as a hobby...............

YMMV

I meant if they were 18, but since everyone wants to be assholes and chastise instead of help...
Here's the next help I offer anyone in here:

The pessimistic, troll-infested, non-helping, bash-box is all yours, enjoy.

that's like the 15th time you've implied you'll keep your arrogant, passive-aggressive stupidity confined to yourself...

'waaaa, im wrong again, everyones a (insert projectionism here)'...

how about NOT making any more empty promises & applying some of that 'never stop learning' you were so wise to delete?

Your offer of help is reminiscent of my KNC refund.  I may have to hop a flight to Sweden and protest outside of headquarters soon.
Anybody want to say how long they've been waiting?

The other 6 PCI-e cables included with that particular PSU are 18AWG and NOT useful for connecting to your Neptune.

This is why Tulip_wanna_be does not recommend the AX1200i PSU.

Rather than fighting over the details, why not cooperate with one another so that we can all live in safe and fire-proofed dwellings?

So, photograph the other 6 PCI-e cables that came with your PSU and let us see if they also have 16AWG wiring (or not).  That would be helpful.
If they do have 16AWG I will personally write a rant about Two_lips spreading misinformation.

No need, covered it ages ago: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.7508465

You clearly don't need five cables with your AX1200i because you will need more than one (ideally three) anyway.

With two cubes per AX1200i I'm getting very good efficiency and 100% stability to date; not to mention OCP which may very well prevent my house burning down given this KfC "design".

This guy recommends AX1200i with splitter cables; you should be using splitter cables anyway since I have seen those EVGA boxes without OCP melt PCI-e plugs at the PSU end.

I am using the 16AWG cables that came with the AX1200i; the fault is clearly with the KnC "design" and not the cables.
What makes you think the AX1200i comes with 16AWG cables? I've never seen one with anything other than "type3" 18AWG cables. I've seen quite a few of them as well.
I've also had them melt/smoke/burn spectacularly: http://imgur.com/a/UUpEG
ditto....  the 1200i's we have all have 18awg, while the regular ax1200's we have all have 16awg.  The "i" must stand for "inferior"
"Need to know"  Basics...
Plugging in the pci cable fully can be tricky, as most of the cubes have the pcb mounted about 1mm too low, and the plug tends to catch on the bottom of the hole in the cube. In order to get them to fully plug in FULLY, you must slightly LIFT UP and push in on the pci plug after it first gets a bite for it to fully slide into the plug socket.
If you miss it, and it fails to fully latch, it may indeed melt; especially if your psu employs 16awg wires.
Seeing a single wire on the pci plug begin the meltdown is a sure sign of a poor connection...
and if you use a dab of conductive grease on each pci connection, it will also help make good contact, and avoid all this.
power delivery is 95% on these imho
Plugging and unplugging the pci plugs too much or not gentile can also quickly loosen the connections.

I am always impressed with how civil and polite tolip is with regards to you guys.

You say "especially if your psu employs 16awg wires" so are you running 14AWG?

You are arrogant and wrong wrong (as usual)... I understand that reading is not your strong suit but here is a photo of one of my AX1200i PCI-e cables:

...and now with zoom:

You can't argue with this photographic evidence but I look forward to seeing you try.

u27

I will argue with your photographic evidence.  Nice crotch shot by the way...
You didn't show us ALL of the cables that came with your PSU and while you DO get 2 (but only 2) cables that have 8-pin connectors on one end and 2X 6-pin AS WELL AS 16AWG wiring, you need 5 to get your Neptune running.

well frack....I did get the cables from cablez on this thread to beef up the corsair1200i with the Y plug arrangement but likely I will just eat a new power supply and use
the 1200i on some other less finicky baby miner of some sort in the future....( i may mine but it will be for fun and itty bitty miners....www.coindesk.com and just buying
coin from now on ...is looking very 'tranquil' after all this drama with pre-orders etc)

anyway recommend the cablez cables...sturdy...look like they will do the job ..but coward that I am ..hopefully....we will have some kinda consensus on a 'real'
power supply solution before the beasts show up (Titan) at the door ....like a real fix as a novel idea would be nice that over compensates and is hefty enough
a fix to satisfy us all by KNC (hey I can dream right?) Smiley

LOL, do not get buried in the wreckage of your future.

If you HAVE the Y adapters and use 2 18AWG PCIe cables you will be OK.
This also helps overcome a limitation with the 1200i 'rails'.

If you inspect your cables you may find,
the cables with 2 PCIe ends have 16AWG to the first PCIe,
and 18AWG to the second.
If you have such cables, only use the first 16AWG connector.

If you do NOT have Y adapters use 16AWG minimum PCIe cables.
2 PCIe @ 16AWG to Y adapters is even better.

YMMV

are you actually trying to deflect criticism of your crew with this ancient crap??

Hi guys!

The Titans will be?
Something tells me that it is necessary to demand a refund and the Titans.

The Titans will not be a good deal.  New coins don't want to touch Scrypt now.  More Scrypt ASIC's have been pre-ordered than BFL 65nm generation.  Dogecoin is dead.  Too many bagholders desperate for an exit which pumpers won't touch.  Litecoin dying and showing it has nothing special about it.  Scrypt ASIC's will beat down the LTC price hard as people try to break even.

I'm not buying miners any more except for collectors items.  Mining is dead all across the board.  The moment an X11, x13, x15 ASIC is made a new algo to exclude ASIC's is made just as quickly.
