Dead die?

This is an October Jupiter that's been running from 24/7. Noticed I have a dead die. I already increased the SPI voltage all the way up to 3.3V and it wouldn't kick it on. Then I slowly increased the individual die voltage to the MAX, which is +.1465. Didn't awake up the die either. Is there anything else that can be done to kick this die on?  I would really thought that the rig would last a lot longer then 8 months.

it's dead and bloody fucked

RMA it and they'll send it back with 3 dead dies.. same board!!

Super, so you're telling me I just wasted $50 to ship (RMA) a dead November module back to Knc? Hopefully they ship one back that works.

Difficulty has risen again. Super Jupiter does now 0.15238969 BTC per day. (3.17 TH/s)

In July +/- 0.065 BTC per day.

In August +/- 0.04366 per day.

I believe the only people making ROI on the equipment KfC sells is KfC.
While probably true for Franken & Neptune...
If you didn't ROI on their first 28nm batch... You probably didn't buy one.

november batch was insanely profitable. overclocked those jups made btc x3.

Try turning the overclocking off?

How do you turn overclocking off? Give the module no air and suffocate it?

sigh i wanted zerocoin (they had a good 'hook' as an anon coin) to come out as sha-256
so we could all drag out our old sha-256 equipment start with no pre-mine at 0 difficulty
would have been a hoot....everyone and his brother dragging out old cpu/gpu/usb/asic
machines..would have taken off like a rocket imho

alas....no sha-256 coin with decent 'hook' imho so Jupiter will wind down by probably
July (Oct version)

my Jupiter is doing (was doing) .0066 per block as of old difficulty so that would be at 18%
more or less .005412 per block on slush it seems....I'm at 561.5 gh ver 1.01 stock

need to ramp it up with the pandelo(sp?) 1.01.1 version ...but it just started acting
flaky here yesterday had to reboot..i may have already run the wheels off

anyway for anyone interested ..more or less the above

Dead die?

I had this on an October Jupiter, for me it was the plug of a power cable which fried in the PSU and didn't deliver full power. This happened to other cables I replaced (modular rail) as well over time, until I switched to a stronger PSU.

My past charm on that:
Block the heatsink fan on that pcb with a piece of cardboard until your temp reads 80C, and if that doesn't kick it on, keep the temp @ 80 while lowering the voltage. once it kicks on, keep the temp adjusted to between 70 and 80

I also hope they don't switch Plan B off for a week after they ship your Neppy, as it takes about a week to receive a unit what with shipping time plus customs delays.

I don't mean to rain on anyone's parade but I thought Sam said it's either or, Plan B or wait, did he change it?

Found what I had read: http://www.coindesk.com/kncminer-offers-plan-b-case-neptune-miner-delivery-delay/

Quote
“Plan B is simple,” Sam Cole, one of KnCMiner’s co-founders, told CoinDesk: “If we face a delay or any type, we will give each person a choice.”

This is a plan that the company is putting in place for paying customers of its latest model, the 3TH/s Neptune miner.

The options are as follows:

1. Continue to wait.

2. Take a USD refund.

3. Convert to 3TH of hosting performance for a period (still to be worked out, but is likely to be around 6 months).

This is where it said a choice...

That's just journalistic interpretation. Or rather crap journalism.

Glow Stick Dance!
Wow! This is the first time I've ever seen this thread on page 2 and no new posts today (until now).

So here's my FrankenJup update for today. The 7th and 8th 'bonus' modules are hashing continuously now for around 24 hours. I've since had some crazy electrical things happening. I have 6 modules and an S2 connected to a Tripplite PDU that's connected to a dryer circuit. Twice I tripped another circuit in a completely different part of the house that isn't loaded with anything other than a couple of PCs. While resetting the breaker, I noticed my digital electric meter was flashing and displaying what I assume is an error code. Everything is working fine now. Has anyone experienced anything like that?

Now I'm off to Lowes to pickup an Evap Cooler. The additional FJ modules have made my server room temp soar to ~90f. I already have a Tripplite portable A/C unit in the room in addition to central air. The rest of the house is becoming unbearable though so I need even more cooling if I'm going to survive the summer.  AND I still have to get the 9th and 10th FJ modules running today. It looks like I may need to think about selling my S1s and Bitfury rigs if the electrical anomalies continue. Sad

I'm beginning to wonder if some of the FrankenJup owners haven't given up too quickly trying to get their Jups running. Some of the orders were indeed total shit and unusable. But I've managed to get another 6 boards running from the second batch for a total of 24 boards and 3.7THs*. I expect to easily get another 6 boards running for another ~900GHs. Maybe more if I bought another controller, which I won't. I possess not special technical prowess either. So if I can do it, anyone can... if it's at all possible.

Of course I was lucky to be in the first 'assembled' batch too and received an extra 18 boards to work with. So there's that, lol.

I can't say I'm completely dissatisfied although the design of the FJ's are crap. I'm hashing now with more THs than I originally paid for. Although I did have to buy 2 extra Controller boards (at an exorbitant price), 2 additional PSUs and 12 i30s. Waiting for the IDC cables was the biggest headache. KNC should supply those with the Controller boards since they are rather uncommon and difficult to find.

If knew then what I know now, I would have certainly cancelled or never ordered from KNC in the first place. But I consider myself to be one of the lucky ones. I could have made many other choices that would have been much worse, such as preordering from HashFast, BitMine.ch, VMC, etc. or continued to wait for a Neptune. Maybe I'll be jealous if/when they are finally delivered. Maybe not.

On the dark-side... I'm still waiting for 2+ Monarchs that probably will never be delivered before BFL goes tits-up. Lol.

* underclocked... Otherwise I'd get very close to 1THs per 6 modules. But the FrankenJup @ stock clock runs too hot for my tastes. Also they seem to be much more efficient at lower clock speeds and since I'm maxing out my circuits, I need to watch this carefully. Plus it's so DAMN hot in my house despite the recent addition of supplemental A/C for my "server" room (spare bedroom). I have to keep the house A/C at 85 during the day so it doesn't run constantly.

I got a refund..anything over 6 months (bfl) they will refund i guess 600gh or 300gh ..the rubber will meet the road if they don't get something out before their black friday sale.if that goes over 6 months i'd expect if they had to refund those they'd go belly up

as to the frankenjupiters....they don't work with oct knc jupiters or i'd try to snag one for fun and giggles even if i only just split the hash with you oh well

of course i have a titan on order so am likely screwed if this is the New 'box' type 28mm format as was used with the frankenjupiters

sigh

Why I'm thinking Nipy will come with 10th/s all day, this let me couldn't get sleep, with 20nm chip, at least 30% potential enhancement, and about 20% power reduce, at higher integrated circuit cluster, am I day dreaming~ Huh

Tity = 400mh/s, so Nipy at least 8tg/s at same 28nm scale, and Nipy is in 20nm, so at least 9.6th/s, am I dreaming~ Huh

I don't think you're dreaming. I think you're just high. Can I have some of what you're smoking, please? Cool

Even if KNC could get it to 10THs, there'd be virtually no way for you to supply enough power to it even if they got power consumption down to 0.5w/GHs (which they won't) that would be 5,000 watts. Going from 28nm to 20nm isn't enough of a die shrink to increase that much hashing power AND reduce power consumption. Impossible.

Btw, what does "8tg/s" mean? That is a unit of measurement I've never seen before?

Hi, 8th/s is a trade off value from scrypt mining, sha256 20 gh/s = scrypt 1mh/s.
