Just wanted to quickly chime in about my experience with Kncminer.

Last week I received my bonus units, after a few initial teething problems (mostly caused by me being thick) I got everything up and running, every unit exceeded my expectations apart from one which seemed to have a fault and eventually went pop on Thursday.

Thursday evening I emailed their customer service and they immediately raised an RMA for me, the board went out Friday and I just received confirmation that it was on its way back to me now.

Great service! Thanks KNCminer

a) They do it coordinated (announce sales and condition 2-3 days in advance)
b) They sell relatively cheap (lower than the potential maximum market price e.g. between 3-5k)
c) They sell only to existing customers in limited amount (maybe 1 unit per previous unit bought)

They already announced to be ready, so the next thing we will hear is "X number available for sale".

B is very likely

C isn't likely, they'd incite a small riot. unless they want to garnish their rep more.

Also possible - nevertheless, very exiting - bring your liquitity in position for all scenarios Wink

Network Protection Statement only makes sense in case buying option is limited to existing customers and @absolutely competitive price. Let's see  Cool

Argh, here we go again!

Competitive price means what exactly?  No one else will be selling a 28nm miner off-the-shelf ready for immediate shipping other than KNC.  Therefore KNC has no competition and can set the price wherever they want.

Do you think HashFast or Cointerra can actually be considered competition?  If they are to be considered competition you would need to receive your HashFast miner the same time as you would an order from KNC. Unfortunately if you ordered from HashFast today you wouldn't get your miner until April.  Hardly competition then, right?  Besides, those batch 1 preorders cost a fortune.

You are correct. Right now they could sell as many Jup as they want. They would sell them from stock asap even price tagged at 10k due to non existing competition.

...But - judging their overall beheviour from the past - I think they will honour their Network Protection Statement which has only one purpose: To protect the network share of existing customers (batch 1 & batch 2 Jup and to some extend Neptune pre-order guys).

This means
a) They do it coordinated (announce sales and condition 2-3 days in advance)
b) They sell relatively cheap (lower than the potential maximum market price e.g. between 3-5k)
c) They sell only to existing customers in limited amount (maybe 1 unit per previous unit bought)

This would be perfect execution and I would draw my head. Maybe, only maybe - they will just pump & dumb for all at premium price generating maximum profit - definitely a possibility... but I doubt that

So I have one november jupiter that refuses to stay on. Tried each individual ASIC separately, no dice, tried swapping the 1500w EVGA with a 860W Corsair, corsair didnt even turn it on (fans spun up but BBB no lights). Anyone got any ideas?

I'd guess there's a ribbon cable plugged backwards to the controller board possible or faulty cabling to the BBB.

They’ve started assembling Baby Jets (overnight tonight). They aim by night’s end to have the first round of assembly done for 400 Baby Jets.

Hooray!   Cool

Anyone have an inside scoop of when KNC will possibly list Jupiters? It will be Christmas in 11 days, then New Year's so anything to do with shipping will be delayed or who knows what. Are they thinking of releasing maybe this week, the next? I'm probably positive someone must have called them to ask. And most likely wouldn't post that "secret" info here.

Given their past pricing trend I am expecting the new batch to be anywhere between USD 2995-3995

fingers crossed!

It's absurd to think KNC will be selling Jupiters from stock for approximately the same $/GH as Neptunes that won't be available until Q1-Q2 of 2014.

We'll be lucky if they don't raise the price from batch 2.  I hope I'm wrong but I don't think I am.

they say they will release jupiters for sale.

Old news.  And don't expect a massive price decrease or you'll be majorly disappointed.

Was just browsing knc forum and just thought I'd mention to keep miners horizontal not vertical. Knc will not issue rma for damage done if used vertically.

http://forum.kncminer.com/forum/main-category/hardware/24251-can-you-place-the-miner-nov-jupiter-on-its-side-and-is-65c-hotter-than-normal?_=1387273529972

I had my oct jup on its side when I first received but it slotted in better in my room horizontally lucky for me I probably would have just assumed that like a PC I just could store it any which way

Has there been anyone else mentioning that they can't change their pool config on their hosted miners?  KNC seems to have changed up the interface and I can no longer make any changes... Clicking Save just reverts it to the previous settings.

yeah pricing at the last module price would be iffy to buy imho ...right now my Jupiter at 555.2gh is making around .26 coin a day so at 1000 bucks a 144gh module ..er imho that won't fly..but then again people betting on bitcoin price rises maybe it would

I hope that KNC sells their premined miners for BTC only. Show some love for the btc faithful, not just those who mine and cash out to fiat immediately.

Phoenix:

Not having a go here, I assure you. Just wondering, because I'd like to know where to rank what you say.

In the past, because I follow this board, I've seen your ... hundreds of posts.
Some have been helpful, and I found some, like I'm sure a lot here did - kind of hilarious, as we watched you stumble through trying to set up your first saturn and posting here every 10 minutes ... then, the more recent "humblebrags" that have served to make some people angry.

That said, some of you stuff has been genuinely helpful.

But, to my question:
Can you disclose the nature of your relationship with KNC please? Like, fully? ... ie: what discounts you may or may not have gotten, etc?

Again, not having a go at you .... just wondering what weight to put on what you say. And, I don't mean that negatively. Like, I envy your close relationship. Same as I envy bitcoinorama for stepping up like he did. He earned his rep here as a solid dude, and his position shouldn't be begrudged.

At any rate, genuinely curious, not trying to be a dick. Feel free to PM, if you'd rather do that.

- Canadian early Oct. Jup owner, for the record.
