T20 World Cup set to begin on October 17 in UAE; final on November 14

Okay ladies finally ICC took a wise decision and T-20 WC is taking place in UAE instead of India. Starting from Oct 17 and featuring 16 teams.

Also remaining games of IPL are going to kick on from Sep 19 (UAE). There seems to be some confusion about IPL's final but as of now they fixed Oct 15 for the finals.

T20 world cup was being played at every two years gap. Although there is 5 years gap since the last T20 world cup but next T20 world cup will be held on 2022. So there will be one year gap between upcoming two t20 world cup. People will loss their excitement and curiosity about world cup if it's held on each year. Isn't it good to make predictions on hard matches of IPL? One side matches never gives any excitement.

Who should be blamed here? The T20 World Cup was originally planned for 2020. It was moved to 2021, because the BCCI wanted to conduct IPL and it overlapped the original schedule of the world cup. IPL is not doing any good to the world cricket. The benefit goes to the richest boards such as BCCI, CA, CNZ and ECB, with the smaller boards not gaining anything. And IPL doesn't feature any players from the associate nations, although in the past they had players such as Sandeep Lamichhane. It is purely a money maker for the BCCI and the other boards and do no good for global cricket. The T20 World Cup on the other hand feature 16 countries and give opportunity to a large number of players from the associate nations.

I am also in favor of ICC's proposal. Because, as a general spectator, I want to see lots of international tournaments. Moreover, if more World Cups are held, I will be able to place more bets. Because it is very difficult to make predictions about IPL matches. The chances of losing the bet are much higher. Moreover, if the T20 World Cup is held every two years, then the smaller teams will have the opportunity to play more international matches. Smaller teams will benefit. And the competition between the teams will increase.

So much uncertainty due to the pandemic and still ICC wants to have 8 global events! they have not yet decided about the venue they should think about successfully hosting the T20 world cup first and then think about the future. Small boards will always support it as they need revenue but who know whether these events will happen or not next year.

I am in favor of the ICC's proposal. What they are suggesting is to have 4 T20 World Cups (one every two years), 2 ODI world cups (every 4 years) and 2 Champions Trophy ODI tournaments (every four year). The BCCI and ECB is not in favor of this and they want the global events to be reduced to 4 (T20 World Cup every 4 year, ODI world cup every 4 year). Also the BCCI want to extent the IPL window from existing 2 months to 3 months. ECB and CA are in favor, as many of their players are participating in the IPL and a part of the revenues go to them as well. Other countries are not gaining from the IPL, so they are opposed to these proposals.

Did Srilankan board and Players resolved their contract drama? Last i heard SL players were fighting over new contract and refused to sign it.

Looks like every team is on practice mode for the upcoming T-20 WC. Next month almost every team is touring here and there and playing bilateral T-20 + ODI series. Good to see Proteas also touring Ireland for the limited overs cricket.

The ICC is yet to confirm the venue change for T20 World Cup. They have a meeting next week, and if there are no last minute surprises, then the formal announcement may be made. Meanwhile the Oman Cricket Board has already announced that one of their grounds will be hosting the world cup matches. Next week's meeting is going to be chaotic. The big 3 are opposing ICC's decision to include 8 global events in the next cycle (2023-31). But the smaller boards want this many events, as they are heavily dependent on the funds from the ICC.

Multan Sultans won this years PSL tournament, they dominated the match and played as a unit with the bat and ball and this year there were many good performance from Pakistan talents and this will give them a good exposure and hopefully build a good team for their national side.

England won the second T20 against Sri Lanka and their batsman needs to perform better and give the bowlers an opportunity to perform and even with the low score Wanindu Hasaranga and both their left hand pace bowlers bowled well.

Multan deserved the trophy. Even without any heavyweights in their squad, they performed really well. Sultans bowlers such as Sohail Tanvir and
Imran Tahir are nearing the end of their career, while Blessing Muzarabani is appearing in the PSL for the first time. Even their batting lineup doesn't look that strong. And despite all this, they managed to lift the trophy. The entire team should be proud of their effort, including the coach (Andy Flower) and the captain (Mohammad Rizwan).

For England, it was just another cakewalk. Even without many of their regular players, they managed to restrict Sri Lanka to just 111/7. Actually I was surprised that they lost so many wickets while chasing this small target.

The batsman from England and Sri Lanka struggled in this pitch and on both occasions Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat and they struggled on both occasions and they need to reverse that and ask England to bat and try to chase the score. It looks like the Sri Lankan team is not confident to chase if not they would have asked England to bat first in their second match after a disastrous first match.

Multan Sultans are off to a strong start, but they need to increase the run rate. They are 83/2 after 11 overs. Both the openers are now back in pavilion (Shan Masood and Mohammad Rizwan). Although the scoring rate is low, I was unimpressed with the Peshawar bowlers. A score of 180 plus looks likely and that should be enough for Multan, given their strong bowling lineup (Tanvir, Tahir, Muzarabani.etc).
Surprising performance by Multan Sultans batsman. Maqsood and Rossouw played very well. They have hitted so many boundaries and made quick scores. Eventually, Multan Sultans has given a target of 207 runs. Didn't expected anything like that. Till now Peshawar Zalmi has scored 63 runs after 10 overs by losing three wickets. Required run rate is high now. Peshawar batsman will feel pressure and won't be able to score quickly as they should.

The gap between smaller teams such as Sri Lanka and the big 3 teams have increased and there is no chance that Sri Lanka would be able to put up a credible performance against England (even if they are missing some of the big names such as Ben Stokes). However, if Sri Lanka could win at least one match, that will help them with the ICC Men's T20I Team Rankings, and eventually they may not need to play in the qualifying tournament for the next T20 World Cup. At this point, they are ranked #8, which is enough to avoid the qualifiers.
Which means you do not get automatic selection if you are ranked lower, when that situation will arise as i have not seen any issues about the rankings to qualify in the world cup till now as un-ranked teams also get a chance.

Sri Lanka is once again struggling in the second T20 and they set a target of 112 runs to win for England and it will be another cake walk victory  Cheesy.

Multan Sultans posted a score of 206 runs but what was impressive was two bowlers Sameen Gul and Mohammad Irfan having a really good economy when others were trashed and it is going to be a tough chase for Peshawar as the asking rate keeps on climbing over 13 per over.

Sri Lanka has chose to bat against England. Sam Billings and David Willey are in for England. Buttler and Woakes are out due to injury.

Quadrangular T20 tournament ongoing in Sofia (Bulgaria). In the first match Bulgaria defeated Serbia by 61 runs. Hristo Lakov and Dimo Nikolov took two wickets each for Bulgaria, while Slobodan Tosic made 38 for Serbia. In the second match, Greece made 157/8 (Pavel Florin - 2 wickets). Romania are 72/2 after 6 overs.

The match between Multan Sultans and Peshwar Zalmi is being held today. After a remarkable win against a strong team like Islamabad United in the previous match, the players of Multan Sultans are mentally cheerful today. And they are confident of winning today's match as well. At the end of 8 overs, Multan Sultans scored 62 runs without losing any wicket. I think they will be able to collect 180 runs.

There will be 3 T20 matches between England and Sri Lanka. England won the first match easily. And I think England will win easily in the remaining two matches. Because, the Sri Lankan team is not very experienced. And, there are not enough talented players in the Sri Lankan team now to resist England’s extraordinary players. So, in the remaining two matches in the T20 format, I will bet on England winning.

Sri Lanka's batting lineup is not stable. In the first match, Sri Lanka lost 7 wickets in 20 overs and scored only 129 runs. It is easy to guess how weak Sri Lanka's batting lineup is. My guess is that at least 160 runs are needed to win against England. At the moment Sri Lanka is weak in both batting and bowling.

England is cruising to a victory and they lost just two wickets and it is good to see that England is playing their full strength team rather than using the rotation system and only Ben Stokes is missing in the team and if he returns it will be one of the strongest teams for the upcoming World Cup. By the way is the locations confirmed, whether it will be conducted in India or in other country.

Didn't even noticed that the T20 series was ongoing between Sri Lanka and England, because the entire focus was on the WTC final between India and New Zealand. Although Stokes was absent from the England squad, the T20 specialists (Sam Curran, Chris Jordan and Adil Rashid) demolished the Sri Lankan batting and restricted them to 129/7. That sort of target was a cakewalk, especially on a flat track with inexperienced bowlers on the other side. Dawid Malan was the only English player who could not perform yesterday.
