Agree with @bryant.coleman Kiwis were not interested and WC is too big tournament for them, historically they never hosted WC on their own but only with the partnership. ICC could have contacted UAE for that matter.

Australia would have been the perfect hosts, as they have more than two dozen first class stadiums where the WC matches could be conducted. NZ is a small country and I don't know whether they have that many grounds. Unpredictable weather is another issue in New Zealand. UAE is also another option, but even with them I am not sure about the number of stadiums.

BCCI has been quite successful. Even in the midst of a covid epidemic, they managed to finish such a big season very well. I think ICC  should be learned lessons from this. ICC should now fix the series schedule for all countries. No series should be postponed for covid epidemics.
Looking back now, i feel that T-20 WC was very much possible but ICC incompetence robbed everyone. They could have at least try moving WC from the Australia but they didn't show any interest and on the other hand BCCI was proactive and was making all short of back up plans from the start.

ICC could easily organize T20 WC in Newzeland if they want. ICC's officials did not want to organize this time T20 WC. There could be two reasons.
1. They did not want that, coronavirus to spread through this WC and defame anyone with the name ICC.
2. They gave BCCI the opportunity to organize the IPL, because if the T20 WC will be organized, the organization of the IPL would have been uncertain.

There were talks ongoing regarding this subject a few months back, and the New Zealand government wasn't much excited about hosting the tournament. Also, we need to take in to account the fact that the IPL involves a total of 8 teams, while the T20 World Cup involves a total of 16 nations. I am doubtful whether a small nation like New Zealand can host such a large tournament on its own.

T20 action will be back in another two days, with the start of the inaugural edition of Lanka Premier League. I am not much excited about this tournament. IMO, it is not viable to have franchise T20 leagues in all the full member nations. I would say that such tournaments should be limited to major markets such as India, Australia, England, Pakistan and Bangladesh. I would add in West Indies, because they have large diaspora communities in the US, as well as good fanbase in South Asia.

Have to give credit to BCCI, they didn't give up despite all odds, which were against them. Fair to say as long as money and their interests are concern they don't back down easily.

They went ahead with the tournament, although 90% of the people were against the idea. If you look at the media coverage, a lot of the politicians and activists were arguing that when people are dying from COVID 19, such tournaments should not be held. I was not surprised, since India is very famous for "activism", which has resulted in many important infrastructure projects getting delayed by two or three decades. Perhaps that is also one of the reasons why they decided to host the league outside India. It takes a lot of courage to go against their opinion and schedule the tournament.
I love BCCI just because of this they are really powerful and organized even they have too many problems but just because of their own sack they done great job and its works for them no other board is capable to do this all like this even all odds going against you now they have more authentication about this all hopefully in future they will not face resistance like this because now peoples realize they can do this all without any serious trouble.

The BCCI would have lost 4000 crore if they did not carry on with the tournament as the broadcasting rights were already sold and any new viewership does not mean any additional profit for the BCCI as far as i understand but the increase in viewership means increase in revenue for the broadcasters.
This is why I mentioned that the BCCI are lucky in this case since many including didn't expect IPL to be conducted this year which is why they exceeded our expectations by delivering one of the best seasons in the middle of a pandemic.

They even managed to ensure the safety of all the players. Some CSK players were diagnosed positive, but they managed to recover pretty quickly without spreading it to others.

I did expect them to set new viewership records thanks to the pandemic, but didn't expect them to profit this much considering their expenditure and the shift to UAE. Lucky BCCI as usual.

The IPL is considered as a luxury event, and it is taxed heavily in India. So the move to UAE benefited the BCCI in reducing the tax bill. The Indian government on the other hand lost somewhere around ₹1,000 and ₹1,500 crore in tax inflows. The same applies to Australia as well. The tax bill on BBL is sited as one of the reasons why the profit levels have remained low. Even the BBL salaries are taxed by the Australian government.

BCCI profited a lot from the recent IPL season unexpectedly even though the pandemic caused a big delay.
UAE cricket board also earned a share of the profit along with luxury hotels had a good three months and from the reports the UAE cricket board got $14 million from the BCCI.

I did expect them to set new viewership records thanks to the pandemic, but didn't expect them to profit this much considering their expenditure and the shift to UAE. Lucky BCCI as usual.

They are just copying IPL. One of the most exciting part of IPL is a team can play at most 4 international players in a team. Which gives it an international feel. It makes it popular in the countries of the players participating as well becomes more thrilling to local users.
Television viewers are more important to the production but real viewers would be much more beneficial for the stadium management. And Australia can implement a safe way to make viewers present in the stadium.

The difference between IPL and the BBL is that the former league can sign almost any international player of it's choice, while a lot would rather skip the latter due to extremely low salary cap. After all, players are also professionals and money matters a lot for them. BBL salaries are lower than what they have in smaller leagues such as the BPL and the CPL. Last season, Sandeep Lamichchane even took a break from the BBL, so that he could play in the better paying BPL.

BBL has increased the limit of international players from two to three recently which is encouraging for the overseas players and also it will create more interest in the matches.

It is true because of the pandemic some player's want to have money because they can't open their businesses yet, that is why Big Bash League (BBL) approved this kind of getting player's overseas as you can see that they getting more player than before but i think this could be a interesting match since they already sold out 26,500 tickets for the opening and because of ease of covid in their area.

Hmmm... this is a very welcome news and may help the BBL to gain more viewership in Asian nations and England. I'm told that the vast majority of their revenues come from Australia itself, but if they want to expand, then they need to concentrate on other countries as well.
Absense of Indian players on other nations' leagues is another reason why it is not getting enough viewers like IPL is just because of BCCI's policy on their player contracts. Players are not allowed to participate on any other leagues it else they will not be given any contracts which should be changed in my opinion if cricket gets more popular among all other nations.

I am truly frustrated by viewing the exhibition of Lahore Qalandar's presentation.
They just scored 132/7 and lose against the Karachi Lions. I was relied upon too much with Hafeez and Ban Dunk yet the two of them got out without contributing anything.
In any case, I acknowledge Lahore Qalandars that they retaliate against the huge group and lead themselves into the finals. Better luck next time.
This was really wired match for me because in first 10 overs I was feeling Lahore Qalanders are doing good and they can manage some respectable score on board but in later 10 overs they play like really shit so now I am feeling this was just because of Dean Jones they give hims some Honor after death and give this win to Karachi Kings because this was really poor from Lahore Qalanders at the end.
