It is really irritating to adjust with the changing team composition after every season. There needs to be some stability in the squad composition.
The IPL is played for 13 years and yet they did not identify this problem and that is what surprises me, may be they do not care about the audience outside India and the people in each territory does not bother which player is playing as long as they win or produce exciting cricket Undecided . As an outside fan i would like to see some stability in the team composition.

X factor looks interesting and it is not a good aspect for gamblers because you never know which player will be substituted who could change a match and mess up our bet  Cheesy.

I am supporting Lahore Qalandars for today's final but i am not betting on the match.  Tongue

Its good that you are not betting on Lahore team because they are on the losing side till now. They are unable to score a decent total and are struggling near the 100 runs.
Look like the Late Dean Jones team will win this match and the final.

Very poor start from Lahore Qalandars in the PSL final. They only manage to score 99 runs after 16 Overs and lost 5 wickets. If they somehow manage to put 140-150 runs on the scoreboard then this match will be excited otherwise Karachi Kings will win easily as their batting lineup is good.My bet is on Karachi Kings tonight.

PSL final, Pakistan's greatest rivalry set to start just after 1 hour later, between Lahore Qalandars and Karachi Kings!

As we've known that both team are first time finalists, which adds more excitement. My favorite players are playing in both teams, truly can't choose which team i'm going to support. However, My blessings and good wishes to the team of Lahore regardless of how Karachi team are looking better. Anticipating a nail batting challenge.

Yes, both team has many good players and being a neutral person it is difficult for anyone to support one team. However, its easy in my case to support my home team, i.e Lahore Qalandars.

I am supporting Lahore Qalandars for today's final but i am not betting on the match.  Tongue

Really Hardik Pandya is a game changer. He is like a pillar of the middle order. He can help the team in times of need. And he is one of the best finishers. But MI has to remove any one of these 5 players from the team. Rohit Sharma is out of this list. So de Kock, Bumrah, Pollard and Pandya have to select 3 out of these four.  MI  will never want to be released Bumrah from the team. The other 3 are very skilled players. It is very difficult to decide to exclude one of them.
I am expecting them to retain all their stock players including Hardik Pandya, Pollard and Bumrah, the only question is what happens to Trent Boult and Quinton de Kock who were not their first choice players during the auction and they had an impact on the tournament and they cannot let go Trent Boult as he is a game changer as well but then next IPL will be played in India and it might change things.

There's a T20 match held on tomorrow between Pakistan and Zimbabwe.
Head to head Pakistan wins 11 matches, where Zimbabwe didn't get a single chance to win any match.
Pakistani cricket team plays with an average of 155.5 against Zimbabwe, which means they can win the match with a big margin.

I never heard about this "Super-sub" tho so can't comment much.

LOL.. almost everyone seems to have forgotten about that innovation. It was introduced by the ICC sometime in 2005. But the implementation was done with too much haste, without proper planning. They should have first implemented it in the first class cricket and then studied the merits and demerits. In less than one year (2006), ICC was forced to remove the super sub rule. The most vocal criticism was that it gave advantage only to the team which wins the toss.

More innovation in T-20, this time BBL. 3 new rules folks...

- Power Surge
- X-Factor
- Bash Boost (This one seems bit tricky, in case any team getting a point despite loosing a game lol )

https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/_/id/30324344/bbl-2020-21-introducing-bbl-power-surge-x-factor-bash-boost

Apart from X factor, the other innovations are not very interesting. And even this X factor seems to be another attempt to revive the failed proposal of "super-sub". X factor tries to address one of the issues with the super sub rule, as two players can be named as substitutes. So the teams can have one batsmen and one bowler named as substitutes and can replace the players according to the match situation.
Power Surge seems interesting to me. IMO it would force teams to focus more on strategy like, when to take 2nd power play according to their batting order and situation, similarly bowling side would change their strategy as well.

If you talking about Hardik Pandya he is a game changer and this year they had the perfect team with Trent Boult and Jasprit Bumrah share the new ball and they had the best batting line up and the strength of their middle order is Hardik Pandya and Pollard and they will try their best to retain all their top players and Ishan Kishan can open for them and he is a wicket keeper if they let go Quinton de Kock.

Trent Boult was the 4th highest wicket taker in this edition, and he was always overshadowed by Jasprit Bumrah. But I really doubt whether Mumbai would retain him. I would assume that they will put Boult and de Kock back in to the auction, and will try to purchase them back, at less than $1 million each. The current salaries are $310,000 and $393,000 respectively).

You are right. de kock and pollard Both are much more necessary for MI. And more important than the two of them is Jasprit Bumrah. Then I think it would be a good decision to omit Pandya. de kock played much better than Pandya. If MI give up de kock, they will not get a talented opener like him.

Lahore Qalandars made a massive 182 runs in the Eliminator 2 against Multan Sultans. David Weise scored 48 runs in just 21 balls and that innings was very entertaining.
I hope Lahore Qalandars would win this match and reach the finals.

After long disappointment, Lahore Qalandars got on top. They have easily beaten Multan Sultans by 25 runs, thanks to the brilliant batting of David Weise they put up a formidable total. Adam Lyth gave Multan Sultans a great start they put up more than 90 runs in 10 overs, after that they fell away, with the serious pace of Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf. We have got a very good final in store. Both teams have made it in the final for the first time.

Lahore Qalandar easily won the match and now will play the final with Karachi Kings.
What a dream final between two big cities of Pakistan  Smiley

This was the moment of the match when Haris bowled Afridi on the first ball and apologizes with joy.

Harris Rauf's apology after dismissing Afridi, that's called is called great honor and respect, however it's the beauty of cricket somehow. Later on Shahid Afridi praises Haris Rauf's yorker that got him out last night. Afridi remarks as unplayable yorker, being modest is the key and that is the thing that pay you back.

Look forward to an exiting match tomorrow, Lahore vs Karachi

@Xavofat while your points are valid, but MI will yet choose Pollard because he’s marketable and in T20 format he’s a bigger brand then De Kock is. @bryant.coleman I don’t think that it’s so easy to replace De Kock, because once you look at his stats you’ll realise that he should not leave MI.

If I have to chose between Pollard and de Kock, then I would go for the former. Pollard is someone who is capable of single-handedly winning matches for his team. He can destroy the opposing team in a matter of one or two overs, by thrashing the bowlers all over the park. De Kock is a good player, but he doesn't have that ability to win matches on his own.

I don't think they will leave De Kock. My guess is, they might hold on - Rohit Sharma, Quinton de Kock & Jaspreet Bhumra, and Hardik Pandya. I think de Kock played better than pollard. All teams will want to get an experienced opener like de Kock. And there are a lot of good players for the position that pollard is batting in. So I think they will give up pollard, and keep de Kock.

My justification is that de Kock can be replaced. But it is very difficult to find someone of the calibre of Kieron Pollard. If they release him, then he can easily fetch a price of more than $2 million during the auctions. And for de Kock, it is possible to replace him with some of the Indian players (Wriddhiman Saha or Dinesh Karthik if they are released by their franchises), or with international players (Joshua Phillipe, Tom Banton, Alex Carey.etc).

You are right. For a team like MI, DC, or SRH, with the exception of 7/8 players, it is difficult to select 4 players. . Because their team was very stable. This is the most difficult task for the Mumbai Indians. Because almost all of their players played well. Every player has a contribution to make to the team’s victory. Even no one was formless. I want to see which 4 players they choose.

Here is my guess. They may retain - Rohit Sharma, Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah. They may bid really hard for Quinton de Kock, Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav and Trent Boult, but it needs to be seen whether they will be able to get a majority of these players due to the limitation with the purse. But without players such as de Kock, Kishan and Boult, the Mumbai Indians would lose their identity that they built during this edition of the IPL.
