It could be.. Word is BCCI considering mini IPL. Not sure how to react as COVID-19 situation is not good right now.
I read some news about India and it did not look good to me. The country is over populated and not everyone is willing to stay at home especially those who do not have any food at home. This is really not good for the country and in this situation I do not think any of the overseas players and their board will be taking risk to send their player in India unless this corona disappears fully from every corner of the word.

Yeah, It was Migrant disaster due to petty politics, ego and lack of responsibility, i covered this here before when we were talking about " Power/responsible media"

After media outrage Delhi and UP's Govs already took necessary steps and this situation got resolved with in 48 hours (Almost). Around million or so staying in Delhi and remaining went to their homes.

What do you guys think?

But i don't blame Players and they are not alone, English players too having same sentiments about the IPL. It makes sense as in most cases IPL contract are way bigger than their yearly contracts (Board contract).

Yeah the virus doesn't seem to be stopping anytime soon as cases continue to grow daily around 80k+ however they don't seem to be growing as much in Asia so there could be a possibility we see a mini IPL tournament played. India seem to have done well to control the spread of the virus so maybe it could be played in a region where there are no cases? I'm sure that they will make a lot of money just from TV rights alone.

I doubt now that IPL will happen this year. The virus has started spreading in India at an alarming rate now, daily there are 100 plus cases that are being reported. The situation after the Delhi incident has gone pretty bad.

Still the fatality rate are low but in no time that will also increase. Forget about IPL and other sports untill a vaccine is out. Indian government might extend the lockdown. Pretty much messed up situation for now.

Yeah, in comparison of (USA, Italy,France) India doing good job considering she has billion people and overall healthcare system is a big disaster. Good thing is community spread seems controllable due to complete lock down so numbers are not going up, having said that its bit early to say and we have to wait 5-10 days more. Plus India is not doing enough tests. Authorities might want to ramp up with the testing in next few weeks for more clarity.

BCCI is already sitting on multiple back up plans if situation gets under control in some regions so yeah we can never rule out this scenario. I think BCCI & CO cooperation could make big money in that case. Imagine Lock down + No cricket in any part of the world and majority of Cricket star playing in the IPL.

I saw on my countries local news that there are many Australian cricket players wanting the IPL season to go ahead and that they are happy to play. I'm thinking that they are saying this because right now cricket Australia and the players are trying to work out a deal with players getting paid which could take a while to come to an agreement so I'm thinking that is why some of the Australia players want the IPL to go ahead. What do you guys think?

Dear Friend please check all realities there is no comparison between Pakistan and Afghanistan situation Pakistan was facing some proxy war from USA, India and Afghanistan so just because of this all Pakistan was in War but now in recent years all is normal and its never been fair to compare these two countries in security issues as India is doing their best for terror attacks in Pakistan through Afghanistan as they have some strong background in this all which was some cleared by Pakistan as Kalbushan was arrested and now its in under control.
If you are hearing only the Pakistan media then you might be brainwashed as the facts says otherwise. Remember Osama bin Laden, Abu Zubaydah, Ramzi bin al Shibh and many others they were all captured from Pakistan, hope you will not claim that they were magically placed inside Pakistan to frame them. Even the current prime minister Imran Khan accepted that there are terrorist in the country and the previous governments were training and funding them. There might be steps taken to control these by the current government but claiming that they were facing proxy war is just nonsense.

I know this is way off and since there is no cricket and you made this fancy claims i wanted to respond. When it comes to international teams visiting Pakistan, not sure what Australian and England cricket board will decide. What ever be the case security is more important than any sporting events and hence i do not see any major international cricket tournaments taking place.

Who gets the WC rights or not? its not upto BCCI per se but ICC voting committee and bidding. I am all up for BCCI bashing anytime but i suggest please use better argument and keep emotions on check.

I agree with the last paragraph of your post. Let the hosting rights be decided on the basis of voting. In case Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bangladesh could make a joint bid, then they may get 3 assured votes (out of a total of 14?). If they could persuade Afghanistan by giving them the rights to host one or two games, then it gets to 4 out of 14. 4 more are needed and I don't think that it will be very difficult for them. They can get support from countries such as Ireland, if they are generous enough to allow a bilateral tour.

I guess for selection there is already one dedicated panel which evaluate all the proposal and rotation policy. Plus not sure if any country has any say in it or voting works this way, So can't add anything but will look into this topic.

As far as i know WC tournament are the main source of income for ICC and that's where they generate their revenue which gets distributed to all the countries. We can only imagine if by any chance something goes wrong with the ICC tournament then small cricket board might get bankrupt as they are solely depended on ICC revenue model.

With all due respect, You don't need to play victim card for starters. BCCI didn't attack the SriLankan team in pakistan, Taliban did! that's why Pakistan didn't get the hosting rights and ICC kicked them out because no team wanted to tour Pakistan and if you want to blame India for this then you are free to do so..

There is a security issue in Afghanistan and the same is with Pakistan. These boards first need to convince other cricket playing nation that they are safe for their players before they decide to bid for a cricket tournament.

Are these Indigenous people in India for not cooperating with doctors during an epidemic situation.
They behave like indigenous people but the truth is that they lack common sense and there were incidents where the medical teams were pelted with stones and attacked them when they went about to check them.

Somehow they thinks that God is going to save them or they can't get COVID-19. Keeping it short as this is not the right thread or might be off topic.
The problem is that COVID does not have a religion . The stupidity we are seeing in some areas are just ridiculous. Even a couple of days back during Ram Navami there were thousands of people standing close to each other in temples and the Nizamuddin event, not sure what these fools are thinking.

In 2011, The world cup in 2011 was hosted by Bangladesh, India & Sri Lanka and they eliminated Pakistan. Now in 2023, they will alone host the World Cup, the Indians and they do not care if 3 others nearby cricketing nations wont get any matches and participation in it. How selfish would that be  Angry
The rest of the World cup tournaments were shared and India is power house and this is the first time they will be hosting the entire matches in India and if the other boards wanted the opportunity they would have made a bid. Money plays a major role and ICC wants the maximum profit and if any other country can put up the numbers then they will get the opportunity as well Wink.

Indymoney was talking about domestic situation that's why i pointed out the stupidity of the subcontinent. For example just look at the quakery of Tablighi Jamaat in India. Not cooperating with the doctors, authorities, harassing hospital staff and nurses by showing off their genitals etc.
Are these Indigenous people in India for not cooperating with doctors during an epidemic situation. You really need to have the patience to treat people of that sort to make them understand about the situation that is going on, i wonder how they are exposed to the virus because these people live a isolated life than the rest of the population.
Not Indigenous people but religious group (Islamic missionary movement/ Preachers). Somehow they thinks that God is going to save them or they can't get COVID-19. Keeping it short as this is not the right thread or might be off topic.

^^ PCB was trying hard for Asia Cup but BCCI already shoot them down for obvious reason and they are not going to visit there anytime soon so we can rule this possibility out.

For ICC tournament one possibility seems manageable if any 3 subcontinent countries bids for joint hosting rights? for ex; Ban-SL-Pak ? then Pakistan can host few WC games.

Well.. why not?

IMO, it may be an excellent idea for PCB, SLCB and BCB to make a joint bid for the major ICC tournaments. BCCI is extremely powerful and they don't need to make a joint bid. But that is not the case with these countries (Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Pakistan). In case they could bid successfully, then I would really like to have one or two matches being staged in Afghanistan and Nepal as well. That can give a huge boost to the popularity of cricket in these nations.

That is the situation globally, you cannot pin point the level of stupidity to a certain geographical location Cheesy, the situation of poor people is the same globally and they are the ones that will suffer the most, even during this lockdown they are the worst affected people because majority live for daily wages and with the situation getting worse how they are going to survive is a big question.

I am sad about Afghanistan. There are millions of cricket fans there. Because of the security situation, the cricket board has moved the home matches to India and therefore 99.99% of the natives can't watch their team in action. What happened in Pakistan is very encouraging. The security situation has improved there and teams such as Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are touring that country. I hope that the same can happen with Afghanistan as well.
The situation in Afghanistan is different and we cannot expect things to be different any time soon, even the US was not able to control the Taliban and with that the case the idea of some country touring Afghanistan is out of the picture.
@Clement Kaliyar you are right poor peoples suffering very badly due to this locked down today I have really frustrated day as one person near to me commit suicide as he fail to bring food for his kids really feeling bad for him and family but cannot do any thing as officials doing all things in media and in practical they fail to give any positive way for poor peoples its almost 14 days and we have news that this will go for more 2 weeks mean many causalties are in line really worst days of life right now.

Well.. I am aware of what happened in 2011, and at the same time I am aware of the changed scenario for 2023. And that's the reason why I was in favor of a combined bid by Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bangladesh. Since Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are no longer favored by India (the BCCI rather), they should make a deal with the PCB and look forward to making a joint bid. I don't think that any of these three nations will be better all alone.
