India finally lost the first wicket and even though Shikhar Dhawan was struggling in the start he scored a fifty before loosing his wicket, why Kohli did not come out to bat in his usual position and now India lost the second wicket, hope they will be able to continue the momentum and score a good total as i placed a bet on India to win even though the odds were not that great.
India started really good and was glad to see Sanju Samson in the team and he started off with a first ball six but was trapped in front the very next ball which was unfortunate but the spinners bowled really well and  they lost 4 quick wickets and hopefully they will recover from this situation and score above 200 runs.

India started really well and to my surprise Sanju Samson is finally playing for India after a long gap of over 4 years and hope he will perform well and entertain the home crowd but the pressure he will be going through will be immense and lets see how he is going to overcome it. KL Rahul is in great form and he is the opener for India in the world cup and Dhawan is struggling and already Sri Lanka missed an opportunity in the boundary.

Both the openers KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan looking to play aggressively and India is scoring at 10 runs per over without a wicket loss. If they contiune and with wickets in hand, 220 is very much possible which will be impossible for srilanka to chase. Srilanka needs wickets now else it will be too late for them to save the match and series.

India is scoring over 10 runs per over and didn't lose any wicket, both players scored equally if Dhawan stats get going another batsman can support him from other end so basically India is aiming for huge first innings total.

And also players like more chances given to the young players to groom themselves at international standards hope they will use it wisely.

The third T20 between India and Sri Lanka will start now and Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to field and hopefully we will see a match without any rain interruption and the match depends upon how the Indian players are able to put up a good total on the board as i am expecting dew according to the reports and it will be difficult to bowl especially spinners and if they are not able to score a huge total then it will be a close match.

Fair enough, if we are considering only Win percentage. I was looking at 100+ match captaincy and trophy as well. btw if we are look at Kohli captaincy (original discussion of captaincy in short format) in the IPL then he doesn't deserve the captaincy in the T-20 format for simple reason, He sucks in IPL.
It is fact that Kohli suck as a captain in the T20 format and it is evident in the IPL for a long time, even with some huge batsman in their ranks they were not able to win most of the times and in Test i consider him as the best captain and even though he is a failure as a captain in T20 he performs really well, i consider Dhoni as the best T20 and ODI captain and Kohli as the best Test captain India ever had.

As per Wikipedia too, the win percentage shows Tendulkar as the second best and Rohit as the third followed by Kumble, Iyer and then Gambhir. He used to have a temper same like Kohli and those days even Kohli looked like a bad captain for RCB but then improved. Currently, only Rohit looks best but in the coming years, I don't see anyone as good as our earlier captains.

Hope @Haunebu don't have any problem with this statement.  Grin

Gambhir ranks 3rd as captain, as far as IPL history is concern. Dhoni and Rohit are sitting at 1-2 rank respectively. Suresh Raina comparison is not looking good IMO, as he lead the team only 30ish time in the IPL and semi-retired (if that's what you want to call)from the international cricket.

Bowlers could become good captain but in current bowling department only 2 names comes to my mind Ashwin and Bhuvneshwar( everyone else is new or don't have enough experience). Chances of Ashwin coming back in T-20/ ODI squad is thin, so we can rule out him. On the other hand, Bhuvi is mature- Balanced guy and looks captain material but in recent time his place is not fixed as well due to cut-throat competition among the bowlers.

So BCCI should stick with the any Batsman Captain

All of this will depend on India's performance in T20 Worldcup. If team India under the captan cy of Kohli is able to win this tournament or become a runner-up team then I do not think people will question the captain. If not then I am sure BCCI under Sourav Ganguly will know what to do, not to forget the coach too 😀😜
I don't think there will be any changes in the captaincy of Indian team until the next 50 over world cup for sure.T20I world cup will not affect anything even if India doesn't becomes runner up they will move forward since they are better team as everyone knows.Sometimes on particular matches our plans won't workout so accept and move on is good for team.

As per the record except test cricket Kohli's perfomance as a captain in one day and T20 is average. Those two are the most played format in world cricket and both have their respective world cup. From 2013 till to date Indi a has not won any major cricket tournament under kohli's captaincy.

You can google the stats and you will be very suprised to know who are better than him as captain.

IPL has given many chances for batsmen to be the captain of their team and even players like Gambhir failed to impress and Raina too. It's high time we have a bowler as a captain like we had Kapil earlier. I feel bowlers will be make captains.

My choice would be like this:

Virat Kohli > Rohit Sharma > Sreyas Iyer

Rohit is the best choice for a captain currently but not sure of Iyer. It's high time we have a bowler as a captain like we had Kapil earlier. I feel bowlers will be make captains.

Waiting for the last T20 today. Still missing Rohit but was really bored of this in-home matches. Ind Vs Aus has always been more fun to watch (esp. when Ind is winning lol).

I tend to agree with your argument in some extent. after ODI WC results some people came out and raised the similar point and then Ganguly had to give statement on record that Virat's team need to produce result in short format by winning the ICC tournament (in response of CT Final and WC Semi Final lose).

I think India is not in need of replacement in captaincy since Kohli is still too young so India will not going to make any tests for the longer format captaincy and all the players were adopting to the style of Kohli captaincy so let it be and crush every opponents irrespective of how good they were playing cricket then only BCCI can make more money. Cheesy

Whether the fans like it or not, Kohli is going to be the captain for anther 6-7 years. So that means that Rohit Sharma would never get a chance to be the full time captain of India (unless he is planning to continue playing until he is 45 years old). So it will be better if the BCCI groom some of the players who are in their mid 20s such as Sreyas Iyer as the replacement to Kohli.

The same was told about Sourav Ganguly one of the best one day captain for India but, he got replaced by Dhoni very swiftly. You cannot underestimate these youngsters. Anyone can replace him in coming years, if the team doesnot win any big ICC tournaments under his captaincy, which by the way has not happened from 2013 he might get replaced.
Captains will be criticized when team is not performing well so possibility of replacing the captains if it goes for too long but as far now India is one of the best cricket team and getting more stronger everyday so the captain will not go into that criticized phase for new few years.

Taking responsibility and leading the team isn't a simple task. No team gets good cricketer to be captain on the consecutive order. India is lucky to get Dhoni followed by Virat, and now we can't imagine any of the players to be the same as them. Pant is young and playing good, but I don't think he's good enough to take the captaincy of the leading cricket team.

My choice would be like this:

Virat Kohli > Rohit Sharma > Sreyas Iyer

Rishabh Pant is too inexperienced to be considered for any future captaincy role. Also, from his behavior, it doesn't look like he can handle pressure situations. Virat is aggressive, but he doesn't lose his composure when he gets angry or irritated. The same can't be said about some of the other members in the present playing XI.

Virat or Rohit seems to the best for now and may be in coming years we will have somebody else nahi could lead India in various formats of the play. Tomorrow is the final T20 against SL and seems India should win it and with this will win the series too .

Srilanka will try to win this match at any cost, I also feel the same that they might win this match. There will be some changes in the team line up that is for sure. We need to wait and watch who are getting replaced. Toss will again play a crucial role.

India has dominated the last match and they would continue to play with the same form. I think it will not be easy for the Srilanka to get a win against strong Indian Side. Even if the miracle happen and srilanka wins, India cannot lose the series because the first match was ruin by rain.

I have seen Rohit captaining various sides, and I believe that he has the leadership quality. But as long as Virat Kohli remains as the Indian captain (which looks likely for the next 6-7 years), Rohit may never get a chance to lead the Indian side (Rohit is one year older than Virat). That is unless the BCCI decides to have separate captains for various formats such as Test, ODIs and T20s. In such case, Virat may be captaining the test team, Rohit will be the captain in ODI format and Sreyas Iyer will be given the responsibility in T20.

I'm getting a feeling that Sri Lanka might win the tomorrow's match and draw the series. India is in great form right now with Virat and Rahul playing consistently but it's a habit of Indian team that whenever there is a easy match to win, they lose. It should not happen tomorrow but the chances are high for Sri Lanka imo.

Possible but I don't think there is a high chance for that to occur. Well even if they are able to give a big score, there are plenty of batsman who will cover that margin. The only way will be to pick up 3-4 wickets of India as quick as possible.

It will be interesting to see who wins the toss and decides what tomorrow. I think bowling first should be the favourite.
