India won comfortably, despite New Zealand managing a total of above 200. They should be disappointed. And it was not even a close match. India won with one over to spare, which is a big margin in T20 cricket. New Zealand bowling looked toothless, perhaps due to the absence of their strike bowlers (Trent Boult, Matt Henry, Lockie Ferguson.etc). These bowlers could have made some difference, but I have noticed that Boult usually performs poorly on flat tracks, such as the one we had at Eden Park.

Since there is no clarity from Dhoni nor the selectors whether he will be selected for the World Cup, IPL is the only platform where we will see Dhoni perform and i am sure he will be performing really well so that all the critics will be silent for a long time as he usually performs really well during the IPL as a captain and as a finisher.

What a dilema the most successful captain and one of the best wicketkeeper in the world has to prove himself once again to be part of the worldcup team. I sometimes ask myself those so called cricket critics and some of the selectors how well did they perform when they were part of the team.

His being part of the team is moral booster for the youngsters.

The stable run rate from the beginning helped with the win at the end.

It was a good game. I was following the score till the NZ innings when they gave them the massive target of 204 but after then I watched the match and I guess NZ only got that score because of the short boundaries. If it would have been some normal ground with normal boundary then I don't think they would have set that much of a target.

It was good to see Rahul and Kohli handling in the middle and then Iyer did the schweet finish. Lovely game today...

I think the youngsters took it on their shoulders and took responsibility for winning the match against the odds. I had thought Indians might lose this one but the batsman's did very well. We are looking at a team where everyone is fighting for a place in the team. It's good for next matches.

Iyer, Rahul and Virat were the players of this game who managed to win it else Dube was taking risks and it failed him and made him lose his wicket at a crucial stage. He was thinking about his individual score. I'm glad Shreyas maintained his calm and played well till the end and Pandey helped him to get it. Winning against a strong team in their own land is always special.

Iyer deserved the MoM title.
