Also they have only one big player in the team who is Rashid khan. If you remove him out of the team, the team is just ordinary which have no chance to win even against small teams. They should make themselves better before thinking of playing more series with better teams. Think of the Srilanka team in 1996 which had so many good players that they even won the world cup.

There are also some names apart from Rashid Khan which makes a difference from ordinary teams like Zazai, Najibullah Zadran , Noor Ali Zadran. Even the young player Zahir Khan is starting to show some signs of becoming good player. I don't think Afghanistan is different just because of one player. They all in whole are capable of defeating big teams.

Things are just getting started for them. Just wait for them to make a mark.

The name of the Indian bowler is Zaheer Khan. On the other hand, Zahir Khan is a 20-year old spinner from Afghanistan who has represented the Jamaica Tallawahs during the 2019 season of the Caribbean Premier League. Prior to this, he took part in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
Okay when I was reading about Zahir Khan I had Zaheer Khan in mind. I saw his era and a fan of his performance.

About this Zahir Khan, this is the first time I actually noticed his name and talk about him. Seems like he made good name for himself.

But just check the age of their star players. Don't forget that Rashid is just 21 years old. Most of the team is composed of teenagers and those in their early 20s. They have a very bright future ahead.
I always thought he is older LOL
Yeah, Afghanistan team is very young and they need exposure. Whenever they get it they need to use it to prove themselves. In the next 5 to 10 years we may see a totally different Afghanistan who will regularly give fight and win against current A graded teams like Australia, England and India.

I can't agree with your views. They are not overly dependent on Rashid Khan. His performance during the recently concluded tri series in Bangladesh was brilliant, but that doesn't mean that the other players didn't played well. Afghanistan is a well balanced team and especially in the spin department they have plenty of options. Mujeeb Ur Rahman Zadran is just 18 years old, but he has emerged as a world class spinner capable of troubling the best batsmen in the world.

The only department where they seems to be struggling is with the middle order and lower middle order batting. In many of the matches, their openers (Hazratullah Zazai and Rahmanullah Gurbaz) were able to give them good starts, but the middle order collapsed and in the end they lost the matches due to it. This is an area where they need reinforcement.

There has been some ban on the Afghanistan team by  a terrorists group named "Taliban". Once they lifted the ban, their national team was formed in 2001. They got their test status in June 2017. The team only became famous in the recent world cup and mainly because of the performance of Rashid Khan. Afghanistan cricket journey is very new and they have talent to become one of the best team as the time progresses.

Rashid Khan point of view is right in some way but they first should be capable of giving tough times to those strong teams. If the Series between Afghanistan and these teams ended in 5-0, 5-1 , then no one will be interested to watch these matches and they wont even attract the crowds.
These players need experience facing top class bowlers to improve themselves, they are good in facing spinners because they have good spinners in their team but if they are to face top quality fast bowlers they need to have someone in their ranks to bowl that quick or to face them and have the experience, no team in world cricket started playing with authority, India when they started solely depended on spinners and so does all the teams from sub continent except Pakistan and with experience and exposure they built a great team.

These things cannot happen in quick session its take too much time and Afghanistan's biggest problem is like Pakistan they cannot play at home and its hurting them too much if they able to play at home then surely they are going to bring too many youngsters like Rashid Khan and Muhammad Nabi but its not going to happen for nearly one decade and surely biggest problem for them.

A number of spinners from the smaller nations have got noticed in the T20 format and Rashid Khan is obviously the most famous among them. Spinners from Afghanistan have been in great demand in various T20 leagues across the globe. Apart from Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Ur Rahman, young spinners such as Zahir Khan are getting deals from global leagues.

IPL exposed a lot of youngsters which is eventually good for cricket. I never heard of this Zahir Khan, if he from Afghanistan? When I read Zahir Khan I was picturing the pace bowler from India (retired obviously).

Afghanistan is full of young talent, and as Rashid said, they needs to play more games against the top sides. I understand that the Big 3 (India, Australia and England) doesn't have spare time to play against the smaller teams. But at least the ICC can persuade teams such as South Africa and New Zealand to play against them occasionally.

Agree but Afghanistan needs to prove that they have winning habits against those small teams even against a team like Bangladesh and West Indies. Every team has to go through this period of not playing regular cricket against big teams. Even I think current Bangladesh team does not get many matches against team like Australia, England, India.

In T-20 format they are good enough team to get bilateral series from any top team ( Lets say 2 series every year). ODI -Test series deal can be argued if its productive or not in regards of outcome, same for Bangladesh.

I think the tri-series between these smalls teams should be more frequent and that will also help these teams grow.

Yeah, it could happen or not, who knows but we can't rule out that possibility for sure. May be 1 big team in every Tri series can help the cause?

Zahir Khan has being one of the best bowlers of his times just like how today Bumrah is the best . He also played by a vital role in India winning the World Cup of 50 overs as his bowling was really lethal during that stage of his career and the World Cup .

In the press conference Rashid was saying that he was ready for the match and fit. So if the match was not abandoned then we would see him playing. The spin attack of Afghanistan for T20 match is so good that in their day they can beat the top class team.

I was expecting an excited match yesterday but it was the rain who won at the end.

I might be wrong on his fitness issue because i didn't checked his press conference but i came across something else. its coming from Cricbuzz's twitter account so it should be true and i think Rashid Khan is right about that.

Brisbane Heat recently signed Mujeeb-Ur-Rahman & Zahir Khan for the next season. Sandeep Lamichhane from the little known Nepal is now an integral part of the Melbourne Stars squad in Big Bash League (this year he had also appeared in the BPL and the CPL). It is great to see all these players getting an opportunity to bowl against legends such as Steve Smith and David Warner.

Not so difficult to think that Afghanistan was favorite.
See the couple of odds stated above and both favors towards Afghanistan win.

I see what you did there @FIFA  Grin

Bangladesh was Favorite but I was counting on Afghanistan Spin Triplet and we shouldn't forget one of them (Rashid) was injured. according to some news, he had slim chances to play in the game.

Also favorite Bangladesh team injured is not wining factors we hope luckily win Afghanistan.
other hand Bangladesh is make a stronger team.

It would of been a good match to see as both Afghanistan and Bangladesh played great cricket in this tournament and I think that they should play the match the next day so we can get a result and not have two countries share a trophy. Anyway I think the big winner out of this series is Afghanistan as they continue to improve and become a great cricket playing nation.

Afghanistan is one of the emerging cricket superpowers. The presence of some of the T20 heavy weights have helped them in the rankings. The only thing that they should work on is to win close matches. I have noticed that a lot many times they have lost matches, which they should have won. They lack the ability to stay calm and cool under tense situations.  This is not something that we expect from a team that boasts of experienced players such as Rashid Khan and Mohammed Nabi.

The progress made during the last two decades by the Afghans is hard to believe. From a country that was ravaged by the civil war, they went on to become a test cricket playing nation. Countries such as Zimbabwe and Bangladesh took many decades to rise from the status of an associate nation to a test playing nation. But the Afghans achieved it in less than one decade.

Earlier you told that you will miss the match because you were unable to get the tickets.
I had convinced my cousin to get into the line today morning, he has managed ticket for me.

Good i like the spirit of yours to support your national team but unfortunately you were only able to watch the rain with these tickets.   Undecided
