Sinner has won the match against Hurkacz. The first set was win by the polish player but lately there was not match (at least on third set with a strong win of 6-1 !)
About Italians player, the former winner of Wimbledon, Berrettini again out of the game! It seems that he was injured and he has left the tournament Sad Terrible year for the player Sad

Italian tennis is in a great place with Sinner leading the way but BIG KUDOS to
Musetti who just beat Djokovic over 3 sets, now if Zverev can despatch Medvedev
we have a very interesting tournament ahead!

Its a pity for Berrettini, its bad luck that he is plagued by injury, such great talent.
He really needs to get fixed up and playing competitively again.
Medvedev have won against Zverv 3-6 7-5 79-67. The match result have come through the decider set tie breaker.
Medvedev to play Rune in the quarter finals, which will be won by Medvedev.
Fritz to play against Tsitsipas, which is in favour of Tsitsipas. Fritz used to reach quarter finals in most of the tournament.
Rublev vs Struff - Rublev seems to be the favourite.
Sinner vs Musetti - The fight for the Miami Open trophy could've given him more confidence to perform. With that we can expect an easy win from him.

Young Czech racquet Lehecka gave the signals that he can be successful on the ground with his performance against Dimitrov. Taylor Fritz also did not allow for a surprise in his first clay court game this season winning in two sets against Wawrinka. Although Fritz seems to be the favourite i guess Lehecka will not give up easily and will take at least one set and carry the match to the upper bracket.

Struff vs Ruud

The first set of the match was convincingly taken by Struff. Now the second set is going on.
In this one so far Ruud is ahead right now. But I still certainly am supporting Struff in this match.

And so far the performance that he has shown, I don’t think I am going to be wrong about the prediction of this match.

Match went as predicted. The odds were just too good for the matchup, especially considering the history and the fact that Ruud just recently won a tournament. So, the motivation and physical and mental toughness wouldn't be high to carry on this week. Although, fair play to Ruud for trying to make it back into the match after being 2 breaks down in the 2nd set. It just wasn't enough for today.

Yup, Struff dominant and is serving for the match with a double break advantage.

Hurkacz also leading against Sinner - that surprises me a bit more to be honest. Interesting start to the clay season for sure.

Struff vs Ruud will be an interesting match up as Ruud has never beaten Struff before. Ruud has very recently won a title in Estoril and seems to be in fine form but I expect this match to be close and possibly swinging Struff's another time. 3.5x on Struff is fairly juicy odds for the match up.

Taylor Fritz - Stan Wawrinka

Taylor Fritz, who currently occupies the 10th position in the ATP ranking, this season has not had many outstanding performances, but in this game he will be playing against an opponent that is in the 90th position in the ATP ranking, and it is true that in the past Stan Wawrinka managed to occupy The number 3 position in the world, but that happened many years ago, and he is now 38 years old, I think that in this game Taylor Fritz has a good chance of winning the game, but it will not be an easy game for Taylor Fritz , but the interesting part is that the odds for this match are at @1.48 in case Taylor Fritz wins the match, and it's a risky bet if placed on a parlay

Yes, it really was not an easy game for Fritz. He won the first set by a tiebreak with 12:10. Then he was better in the second set.

Zverev will face Medvedev who beat Sonego quite convincingly.
quite surprise seeing Medvedev's performance which is quite good on clay, facing Zverev will be a very tight match, both players have often met with each beating each other, but this will be the first meeting on clay so it is not very certain who will win but Zverev has better statistics on clay while Medvedev has never even won 1 title on this surface.

The performance from Zverev in the first match was not good. He performed better in the second match. Medvedev has won the last two encounters. The advantage from Zverev is clearly that he likes to play on clay.

Dominic thiem is doing good so far in the monte carlo tournament he beat gasquet easily even thought his opponent is not at peak form but thiem really improved a lot since his comeback but unucky for him he is facing Rune one of the top players at the moment he is young and yet impressive i doubt thiem can do anything against him.

Dominc Thiem despite being currently ranked number 106 in the ATP ranking, he managed to reach a good position in the past, he came from reaching position number 3, so he has been slowly improving, I don't know if he will be able to reach a better position, at least be in the top 10, but if he's improving then he could at least move up in the future. while his opponent is Holger Rune, who is currently number 8 and heads the table, who this year has already played 21 games and won 14 and only lost in 7 games, in my opinion Rune will win this game, but the odd in case Rune wins it is at @ 1.34, I see it being a very low odd, if at least it was something around @ 1.44 it could motivate me to put it in my parlay

Botic Van de Zandschulp - Casper Ruud

Botic Van de Zandschulp, who currently occupies the 31st position in the ATP ranking, has never won any relevant tournament that he started his professional career in 2016, while his opponent Casper Ruud, who currently occupies the number 5th position in the ATP ranking, in addition to being in a better position, he has better performances in relation to Botic Van de Zandschulp, I see that Ruud will win this game without much difficulty, maybe for this reason that the odd for Ruud to win is at @ 1.29 which is an odd very low, but I could add it to some parlay, I'll think about it

Van de Zandschulp - Casper Ruud match was very tight as expected with the Norwegian winning 7:6, 7:5, whereas Fritz came out victorious against the Swiss veteran 7:6, 6:2.

Let's see what we should pay attention to tomorrow:

Hubert Hurkacz    VS    Jannik Sinner Sinner looks more confident, the Pole seems to be struggling in every round.

Nicolas Jarry    VS    Stefanos Tsitsipas Self-explanatory

Novak Djokovic    VS    Lorenzo Musetti   Easy match for Nole.

Daniil Medvedev   VS    Alexander Zverev  Hard one, I think Zverev is not in his peak form after the injury yet, therefore - Medvedev.

Jan-Lennard Struff    VS    Casper Ruud It's one way traffic for Ruud.

Andrey Rublev    VS    Karen Khachanov  All-Russian duel promises to be intense, Karen seems to be in better form atm.

Taylor Fritz    VS    Jiri Lehecka  Lehecka is awesome but Fritz had been showing some incredible tennis lately (on all surfaces).

Matteo Berrettini  VS    Holger Rune  Ok, this one is hard, I'm saying Rune, just a hunch.

Let's have some fun watching and betting!  Wink

That was a much better performance from Zverev. He played much better against Bautista than before against Bublik. In the next match he will play either against Medvedev or Sonego. Both just palying their match against each other and Medvedev won the first set.

There have been no surprises in Monte Carlo so far. I was just a bit surprised that Djokovic had some problems in the first set against Gakhov and that the tiebreak had to decide.

The last time Van de Zandschulp and Ruud also played against each other, and then the Dutchman won. So maybe the level is closer than the bookies suggest. They are of course mainly based on the statistics and by that I mean the world ranking. Ruud is considerably higher in this than van de Zandschulp, but how good is Ruud actually? He could potentially become the new number 1 in the world, but I still feel that he is lagging behind guys like Nadal, Djokovic and now Alcaraz. I hope for a long game and a three setter.

ya.ya.yo!

I am backing Ruud on this one, isnt Clay his preferred surface to play on and
IMO van de Zandschulp hasnt been performing to his potential at all recently.

Anybody watch/bet on the doubles match today between Mektic/Pavic and Fritz/Rune?
I watched some of the first set and found it interesting that two newbie doubles players
could beat the #4 seeds and veteran doubles specialists.

That must be frustrating for Mektic/Pavic to be beaten 3-6, 4-6

I second that. Despite the Norwegian is considered to be a clay specialist, let's not forget h2h is 3:1 in favor of the Dutchman. Their last meeting (in Miami in March) had been won by van de Zandschulp. However, the Dutchman played a very long and exhausting R1 match against Fucsovics.

Second match is much more obvious at a first glance: Fritz is likely to win in his encounter with the Swiss veteran. But I fear it's not that straightforward as well. Stan the Man is better on clay, plus he's a 2015 Roland Garros champion. H2H is 2:0, Wawrinka leading.

Zverev played on clay for the first time after a long time. And you could see that he had difficulties. But that is also completely understandable for me. But Zverev often had difficulties against Bublik in the past. In terms of tactics, Bublik was brilliant. He often brought Zverev to the net with stop balls and Zverev could not find a way to counter them. But the own mistakes from Bublik allowed Zverev to improve his performance and finally won the match.
Bublik did it quite often in this match, some managed to become points but not a few which also ended up being points for Zverev, players have to be patient enough when facing a player like Bublik whose way of playing is very relaxed but the shots are often unexpected, only in the first set did Zverev face struggled but the second set Zverev was pretty solid although he still made mistakes and the third set could have played better so he won in the end, and it looks like the top players are facing problems on clay because Rublev has too, Munar just wasn't lucky enough because Rublev was able to return to his best form but his resistance in the second and third set was enough to irritate Rublev.

Djokovic vs Gakhov, of course no one will think that this first seed will lose to an unseeded player and so do I but I don't know for sure what difficulties Djokovic will face but this shouldn't be a tough match, and he also loses quite rarely in the early rounds tournament so I think he will win in two sets which is only the beginning will face a little difficulty.

He have been considered among the top line of tennis players. If he continues to play he's gonna destroy his name that's been earned through hardwork. He's at his best and announcing his retirement is the right choice. Today's loss is really bad and he had earned enough to spend good with his family. Right now young players are dominant and to play against them and to take their positions or give competence with this form is really impossible.
I don't see it that way, everybody knows his career has been sidelined trough hip injury and every professional match he plays after the surgeries is a victory of sorts. It is obvious he likes the game since he doesn't need the money. In his current condition clay is probably worst surface for him but I am sure he will do better on his home grass. Looking forward to seeing him in Wimbledon, not many grass specialist in top positions so maybe he can do good there.

Yes sorry n0ne I agree with Trofo. Andy has built up a legacy which nobody can can away
from him. I have mentioned before that its getting time for him to retire but his fighting spirit is
very commendable given what he has had to deal with.

I watched the match: first set finished 6:1 Thiem (Thiem was leading 5:0 and Gasquet barely avoided the bagel) but in second Thiem didn't look that fast and fresh anymore 6:4. Anyway, his first win on a Masters in 2 years! But yeah, R2 v Rune doesn't look so promising anymore.  Grin

Would love to see Thiem get back to his former levels but it seems to be taking a
slight bit longer in my mind. Rune up next for him will be a big challenge.
