Eugenie Bouchard is back on clay court and has won her first game on clay since 2020, Roland Garros. Is there still potential left in Bouchard or is it just going to be 50+ ranked player, just hanging into the tour under 100 ranked but have no potential?

It doesn't seem that tennis is the love of her life. After the shower slipping accident she secured herself financially and lost her motivation?

Some promising matches today in Charleston:

Cornet v Kalinskaya
Tsurenko v Jabeur
Azarenka v Stephens
Rogers v Collins

Big defeat from Kvitova, just to know about the women's singles winner had a search and found Kvitova to win the title. Her first WTA title since Madrid Open (2018). The first set of the match have went to 716-614. The second set was an easy win for Kvitova 6-2. She had won the title, but failed to win the hearts with her attitude. I don't know whether it is right or wrong, but to a child she couldn't have done it.Not Good

Yeah, I agree this is not nice. In her defense, I can say that she has just won the title and the adrenaline kicked in and perhaps she didn't even notice the kid. As to the match itself, imo Rybakina lost to herself not to Kvitova. Too many unforced errors. One of the worst matches for her this year.

Meanwhile, I'm switching to Charleston WTA 500 and definitely can't wait to see/bet on Monte Carlo (starting on April 9?). Clay season is starting soon, this is going to be interesting! Cool

I saw this on twitter, this clip shows the "full scene".

https://twitter.com/petexiao1/status/1642787982167121920?s=20

the way I see it is there were two wrongs and ita all about "time and place"

The mom of the kid is waaay to pushy and I think the kid kind of knows it doesnt feel right,
she is the only one invading the space, not the right place to ask for an autograph.

On Kvitova's side all the cameras are pointing in your direction and its only one autograph,
snubbing the kid probably wasnt the right thing to do at that time.

anyway back into clay season with a few ATP tournaments in action already, Estoril Portugal,
Marrakesh Morocco and  Houston USA but I have no idea who plays where yet

Ah, not all great players can treat their fans well and unfortunately she is the one who can't do good things for her fans.
The first set was the tightest and going into the tie break was like a certainty for Rybakina as she had a good record in the tie break but too many mistakes she made a few set points wasted and the tight numbers in the tie break made just one mistake going to her opponent's advantage and Kvitova got the advantage, the second set was relatively easy for Kvitova and we often see things like that when the previous set went through a tie break who lost became so weak in the next set.

Meanwhile, I'm switching to Charleston WTA 500 and definitely can't wait to see/bet on Monte Carlo (starting on April 9?). Clay season is starting soon, this is going to be interesting! Cool
Sabalenka is not playing here due to an injury she got at the Miami Open, and the seeds here are Pegula and Jabeur. Jabeur hasn't had a good form this year, losing relatively often in the early stages of the tournament, and Svitolina's loss to Putinseva looks like she still needs some adjustment after a long break.

Alcaraz may seem a size too big for other tennis players at the moment. And to think that we haven't even started the gravel tournament in Europe yet. So that will soon be even more in favor of Alcaraz, I suspect. It is also possible that we will only see Nadal for a few more games. I think he just wants to play tennis at the highest level. Sinner is also a huge talent, but the question is whether he can seriously compete with the real world top. He seems to be just below that at the moment. Especially if you compare him with Djokovic and Alcaraz, for example.
Alcaraz is performing well right now and playng on clay might ahelp him even more. Tennis analysts are concerned about Nadal's future, and while Sinner  great player he may not yet be on par with Djokovic and Alcaraz.

Another easy win for Medvedev, he's now 6-0 in h2h against Sinner.
All of their matches were played on hard though, which does favor Medvedev.

Sinner's having a great season so I'm curious to see how he'll perform on clay, he'll be among my favorites (if we ignore Alcaraz, of course).

Alcaraz is without doubt the most talented of all young players at the moment. However, that doesn't mean other players can't get closer to him. There are several ways to become number 1 in the world. Roger Federer and Murray are good examples of this. Federere is a player who was incredibly talented, perhaps the most talented ever. But Murry managed to beat him a few times because he worked harder for it, trained harder but also put in more effort to win points. You can go far with a fighting spirit. And Djokovic has both, which is why he has won so much.

It is normal that even the best players in the world can not win all matches. Nadal is the best ever on Clay and his record on Roland Garrod will probably never been broken but also he lost (2 times I think). That doesn’t mean he did put less effort in but sometimes you have a less good day and your opponent has the best day of its life.
Every great game must have experienced defeat in a match, whether due to injury or other obstacles, there will definitely be a day when he can get defeat.
Nadal is probably the best player on Clay and his record is hard for other players to break but it's true as you said he has even had defeats so no player really has a winning record without a single defeat.
Even if there is, it is only temporary and in the future you will definitely experience defeat because more and more players get older every day and their performance and playing skills will decrease and can be easily surpassed by other players.

same, i really thought that Sinner could make it and win the tournament but he stumbled upon Medvedev who seems to be back to a very good shape that got him in top of the rankings, i hope that this loss won't affect Sinner in the upcoming matches, he's young and he still has time to shine.
Jannick Sinner has proven that he is a young player who deserves to be reckoned with in order to become one of the best in his professional career, so it is unlikely that one defeat in the final will affect his mentality and appearance in subsequent tournaments, in fact this defeat is a dynamic for him to further develop himself, with head to head going 0-6 when faced Medvedev he will definitely try to break in another championship.
The clay season will start and the big championship will be the Monte Carlo Masters, again all the top players will gather including Djokovic, but Nadal has not confirmed that he will participate, but Medvedev who impressed in the Miami Open always faces difficulties on clay and Alcaraz will be stronger in this type of field.

Sinner has lost the first set and It seems he is going to loss also the second one (2-4 Medvedev Is serving for 2-5 Sad ) ... I was tempted to bet on him Roll Eyes
Unlucky day for the italian guy... He was also in advantage of one point break on first set...

I believed this to be a win of Sinner as he had one point break in the first set. However my inner mind had a feeling that the match will move to three sets and Medvedev will fight the second and third sets. Later I didn't watched the match and I got surprised seeing the result in which Medvedev have won the set 7-5. Second set easily won 6-3 to record the title win. Four title wins in five weeks for Medvedev.

I expected a better performance from sinner to be honest especially after he beat alcaraz but it was a disapointing final in my opinion, it seems that medvedev is back in shape a final in indiana wells and now he won the miami tournament.

So did I, I really thought the match was going to be a really close affair, possibly 3 sets!

I believe Janick was not feeling well all day and on court had dizzy spells so he was
not himself so straight away he was at a disadvantage but yea Medvedev looked fairly
impressive, when Janick broke a few times Daniil broke back straight away.

Such a pity for Sinner, yesterday he probably felt he had a really great chance to take
the title.

~snip

This is his first real chance of beating Medvedev and so the market thinks so too
with the odds almost identical for both.

agree, Sinner has a good chance tonight, not sure if he is going to use it, but obviously is a good chance
Medvedev is in form, but last final with Alcaraz proved that he can stall in finals, while Sinner played this tournament really good, and he is not that tired from playing two tournaments in a row till the last match

two setter would probably go to Medvedev side, and third setter has to be on Sinner (his chances to win 2:0 are a bit lower IMO)

I'm really looking forward to the final tomorrow. Sinner played some great tennis against Alcaraz and I simply enjoy watching Medvedev when he's in form - which he currently is.
With the first set win of 77-64 it looked like a match of Alcaraz, but Sinner played well in the next two sets 6-4 6-2 and were able to reach the finals.
Medvedev has to be considered a favorite considering that he never lost against Sinner, but if I had to pick the winner for tomorrow I'd go with Jannik. He looks ready for his 1st win.
It looks like a wild prediction. As Medvedev haven't lost any matches against Sinner we have Medvedev as the favourite, and every match was played in hard-indoor court. This is the first match to be played on hard-indoor. Maybe this gonna have some importance on the match. As said Sinner surely gonna give the best out of him to win as he have already won against the defending champion.

its very different this time, I would argue that Sinner has increased his development
of his game at a much higher pace than Medvedev.

Sinner has been working on his fitness, muscle mass and his serve as well as other
aspects of his game which are secret - understandably.

This is his first real chance of beating Medvedev and so the market thinks so too
with the odds almost identical for both.
