so Federer officially retired today after the match with Nadal against Tifaoe and Jack Sock, it was an entertaining and sadly Nadal and Federer lost, we also lost a legend who gave everything to tennis and was one of the greatest players of all time, he started crying right after the match ended and i couldn't myself hold my tears seeing him saying his last goodbye, it always sucks seeing legends retire.

A cycle has been closed.
He has been one of the most exciting tennis players we have seen in recent years. It was really exciting to see him play, a confidence and skill of other times, in addition to his ways of being a gentleman of another era.... and a good player to bet in each tournament/match Roll Eyes
The new seed players are strong (Sinner, Alcaraz etc) I hope they can have as many victories Wink  as him !

Yeah, we have been discussing already that one day, we will see Federer signing out. And now is the time, he played his last game with his best friend/nemesis in Nadal. At least we are lucky to have witnessed him during his prime, being one of the best tennis players.

So it's about time for the new seed to continue what other great players before them has done. We already have one in Alcaraz, and for sure he will continue the torch. But there are still a lot of young players that can be the next Federer.

I vividly remember that I started watching tennis after hearing his name a lot, and I was impressed not only by his skills on the court but also by his behaviour outside the court. Furthermore the current generation of stars may have the talent, but they lack the ethics that he brought to this game and thus I hope that he’ll find a way to be connected to this sport in some capacity.

Surely this was a good entertaining match after winning first set they lost second on tiebreaker and then third as well with this lost now World and Europe both are level in points which are 2 - 2 24th September is rest day, and now we will proceed rest of this event on 25th September.

I check about this in last four years all events won by Europe and World never been able to beat them which is very interesting because European quality is surely on its best with three big giants from Europe, and they never allow anyone to beat them in this event. I am feeling sad now we will never have Roger Federer in tennis court as he already announces his retirement from all events with great memories and amazing stuff which he has done during his time in Tennis courts around the world.

These legends have lived for tennis. For most of the young players who are ruling the tennis world at the moment have inspired by these players. I believe he had taken the right decision to retire, because beyond certain point it'll be difficult for them to play causing injuries and undergoing different treatments.

It's still good what Murray shows. It's a shame that his hip went wrong then. He was actually the only man who could make it difficult for Nadal, Djokovic and Federer. The rest didn't make it. He will continue to play tennis and keep trying, but we will never see the old Murray again. I also don't quite understand why he still plays the tournaments, it must be very frustrating to lose against opponents that you won with 2 fingers in your nose a few years ago. Maybe he just likes tennis too much to stop right now. Age also counts a bit. Maybe he should focus on doubles with his brother?

Well Andy Murray back in his prime was really good and he was considered to be part of the four. But once he got injured he didnt comeback fast and didnt win anything so now it is only the big three but Murray made it really hard for them before so its really sad for his hip injury. I wish he would win now at least one trophy

Murray would have probably dominated the top for quite a while if he played during a different era. He still made it hard for them, but of course in terms of titles won he is extremely far behind the top 3 and actually lost the majority of the games against them. His stats against them aren't devastating, but relatively one-sided except again Roger.

Now Roger lost his 2 vs. 2 with Rafael. Tiafoe is in such a good shape that I honestly expected Sock and him to win if they take the game seriously. Was still an exciting match with a close tiebreak.

An era is ending now and it is down to Rafael and Novak to compete for the most GS titles won. If Rafael can win another French Open I think it will be tough for Novak to overtake him. Hopefully some more amazing games between the two to come, but I expect Rafa to have a well-considered schedule with far less tournaments.

Well there is something going on with him. He has an unorthodox style of playing and same for
his shots, maybe that is a thing then about changing surfaces and that if effects him becuse
of that.

I belived the Laver Cup has started today!
Andy Murry is currently playing De Minaur and is 1 set up.
BUT
Later this evening there is a bit of a treat in store, the mens doubles between Federer/Nadal
and Sock/Tiafoe. Unfortunately I cannot watch it. I have never watched these two play doubles
together before.

Medvedev is in a bad form and i see him dropping out of top 10 really soon with how he is playing.

he is obviously down with his form, not sure maybe it is because situation in Russia or something, but he is out of form

nevertheless, he used his momentum, reached no.1, but I do not think that he will be able to get back to no.1, especially with Alcaraz there, he looks proned for many weeks as top in tennis and many GS titles

His performence is just terrible and you cannot lose to old players that cannot even reach form. This is not the first time he lost so early in the tournament. Mark my words next year Medvedev will drop out of top 10 in the world. I think he can win some tournaments but not any major anytime soon
It is always though to play first match when changing surface and Medvedev has more problems with that then majority of players. He has some unorthodox shots that sometimes look strange and they are much more susceptible to slight mistiming. He made a lot of progress in this area, just rember how his backhand looked when he came on tour, I was laughing my ass off watching him. That is why I took the bet against him, to be fair did not expect him to lose, but I was quite sure in +5.5 for Wawrinka which I even mentioned here in the thread.

Also Medvedev is struggling with Wawrinka and saved already a match point and i think Wawrinka can win in this match.

Wawrinka did it, and put Medvedev down
it is only Hurkacz from top players now in, and Stan can reach far on this tournament, if he plays as against Medvedev

Ymer is next, and then Rune vs Bublik, all players that could be beaten by Stan, if he is playing his game, would be nice to see him get another title in this age

As i guessed Wawrinka surprised Medvedev and won the match. Probobly the biggest win for Wawrinka in last couple of years and finally we see the good old Stan. Medvedev is in a bad form and i see him dropping out of top 10 really soon with how he is playing.
I thought Medvedev will make a comeback after the fighting win in the second set. Unfortunately things didn't work for him, and Wawrinka won the third set easily. After his win in the Los Cabos Open there is no big performance from Medvedev. Consecutive losses amidst the big expectation from the audience.

You should never write someone off, I know. We have seen several comebacks from older players and Wawrinka is going to turn 38 soon, but for a former world no. 1 like Medvedev it is more than about time to deliver more constant performances. Even looking at the second set it could have already been over in the tiebreak, and then on top of that if you win such a close tiebreak you should have an advantage mentally afterwards, but instead Wawrinka obliterated him in the third set. That's why I will miss the Nadals, Federers and Djokovics one day. Their constant performances, and then also the matches between them have always been a thriller. Now I wonder which of the future tennis matches will be such thrillers on a frequent basis? All those guys at the top have their breakdowns every couple of weeks. Zverev, Medvedev, Tsitsipas, Kyrgios, it's all the same.

Good old times...

There is solid tournament going in Metz right now, just watching Hurkacz against Thiem to see how this guys are performing. Placed a bet on Thiem +3.5 since he already won 3 matches here (started in qualifiers) while this is Hurkacz first match indoors. Should be enough to cover the handicap hopefully Smiley

Later on we Have Medvedev vs. Wawrinka and I took Waw +5.5 for the same reasons. Hoping favorites have some surface adjusting to cover and these two heavy hitters getting back from injuries are ready for some serious tests.

Very small bets since those are very risky choices.

Hurkacz won pretty easily against Thiem and showed the quality and easily won. Your bet didnt win sadly and thiem is still far away from his big form but is slowly coming back but Hubi won. Also Medvedev is struggling with Wawrinka and saved already a match point and i think Wawrinka can win in this match.

BIG Upset - Wawrinka beat Medvedev

https://www.tennisnet.com/en/news/atp-metz-stan-wawrinka-throws-out-daniil-medvedev

Quote
Surprise at the ATP Tour 250 tournament in Metz: Stan Wawrinka defeated the title
favorite Daniil Medvedev 6: 4, 6: 7 (7) and 6: 3 in the round of 16 on Thursday evening.

That I didnt see happening, but the big question is what is happening to Medvedev? or is
Wawrinka making massive developments in his recovery?

Wawrinka now faces Mikael Ymer and is favourite, just about.

Federer at least has his dream goodbye according to the media. May double with Nadal, you wonder why those 2 never doubled before. I think that's because they both wanted to focus 100% on the singles and then there was a pretty good chance that they would face each other. Neither have really built a double career, I think it is also difficult to focus completely on the single and also on the double. Federer has meant a lot to tennis, Nadal also has a big name but Federer still had a special personality. I can't remember a player more loved by the crowd than him. Djokovic at least no longer after that Corona thing.
