Cilic had some good results this year surprising a lot of us but against Djokovic there is a
massive gap.
It is not just a quality gap, it is a total counter in play styles. H2H with Djoković is really terrible 19-2 so it was very expected result. I hoped that he will maybe take one set or last till tie break but even that was asking too much.

Solid tournament in Japan going on now, too bad all the matches are during the night in my time zone so I can't watch anything.

I think Djokivic has big things planned for next year after a crazy 2022. This year has been
so messed up for him through no fault of his own or maybe because of his decisions
but he will be back with a vengeance.

He won Tel Aviv pretty easily and i think if he continues to play tournaments until the rest of the year he will get 2 or 3 more titles. But his ranking has dropped by a huge amount . If Wimbledon counted he would be in the top 5 but still missing 2 grand slams and playing so little tournament he is in a good ranking. If they allow him to play in 2023 he will win it all for sure.

Stan Wawrinka lost today against Mannarino two sets to one after winning the first one 6-1, I think the age factor is showing, It is a matter of time he retires, even when he was at his top of his career his cardio was not really impressive, now Grand Slams would be a real challenge for him, if he gets to play in some of them he will be eliminated in the first rounds.
These days many matches ends up with unexpected results. In the match between Wawrinka and Mannarino, it is Wawrinka to win the match. Even the first set confirmed it,but Mannarino made a big comeback winning the second and third sets. As said age factor really matters and very few were able to stay high amidst their age.

Another straight sets loss for Čilić against Đoković. Their h2h statistic is really humiliating for Marin, considering that he's a top 20 player throughout most of his career.

After another win in Tel Aviv, the score is now 19-2 for Novak, with Čilić winning only 8 sets in 21 matches. If we take out the 4 sets that he won in his 2 wins, he took only 4 sets in 19 losses.

Čilić vs Đjoković

Marin Cilic really is supposed to lose this match. Even before the match, I did not think he had any chance against Novak Đjoković. His record against Novak Đjoković has been really poor from the start. For some reason when I saw him play against Marin Cilic, it felt like this is almost an unfair match. Cilic was showing some resistance at the start but Novak Đjoković was just a tad too strong for him. And watching the last match it feels like Novak Đjoković has improved his backhand game.

Mens tennis is currently much better and we can see the future there,so many good young players even with Alcaraz above everyone currently someone will show up. While women tennis dosent look promising at all . Swiatek looks currently like she will dominated for years to come with no actual competition

Swiatek is currently the best on the women side but I don't think she will be able to dominate the field in a similar way that like Serena Williams did. There are some young and upcoming players (i.e. Raducanu) and on the women side always a lot more surprises happen in grandslams than on the men side.
I don't think so too, especially in women's tennis, it's somehow really hard for one or two players to maintain the spot on top of the leader board and dominate most tournaments they participate in, Serena Williams was an exception, I doubt Swiatek can do as good as Serena.
Men sports is obviously much better than women - that is true
But some of the women tennis stars have made their name because they came so far. Like only one tennis player Sania Mirza has made her mark in the tennis history.
But then again I agree men's sport is always better
Sania Mirza is the one to bring tennis to limelight in India and throughout her career she is the No.1 Indian Tennis player and during the peak of her career in 2007 she managed to reach 27th World rank and no other women players from India is able to reach it. There are more young players, and we should also think the difference in competence between the year 2007 and 2022.

Regarding Watergen Open in Tel Aviv is just over the competiotion and the final match between Djokovic and Marin Cilic... the serbian player won the match in two sets 6-3/ 6-4... without real trouble...
Cilic was the number 2 of the seeds and in any case he achieved a good result reaching the final.

@aoluain
Huesler was able to defeat Musetti that is not an easy player, for sure a player to look in other tournaments Wink

The final today in the Sofia Open in Bulgaria resulted in a win for Huesler over Rune.
It was 2 sets with a tie break in the second. I haven't seen Huesler playing before this
Tournament but he is quite talented. He is 26 but where has he been up until now?
This is his first ATP title >
https://sofiaopen.bg/one-more-for-the-history-marc-andrea-huesler-won-his-first-atp-title-in-sofia/?lang=en

I didn't bet on this but yea with hindsight a handicap on Rune could have been a
Good one provided he was underdog beforehand.

Casper Ruud was upset in the Korea Open by Japan’s Yoshihito Nishioka. Ruud who recently become the second seed, will lost that spot next week to Nadal as a result of this lost.

First time since I can remember that the #1 and #2 will be of the same nation, Spain,

And so with that win, Nishioka will either face Mackenzie McDonald or Aleksandar Kovacevic next.

Really did not expect Rudd against Nishioka. That was a big upset in my opinion. As of now, Nishioka's next match has not been decided yet.
In the next match, it will be really interesting to see how he performs and how his performance will affect the match. As he is coming off a really big win, he will definitely be confident going into this match. The fact of the matter is that it is very unlikely that he will be able to win the next match in this competition.
It will also be interesting for me to see how Rafael Nadal will perform in this competition as well.

Of course, we appreciate women too, Serena and Venus Williams had a great battle with Swiss Miss Martina Hingis and then Maria Sharapova. Those are the times that the women side can rival the mens are far as intensity and the number of fans watching their battle in the court.

Steffi Graf and Monica Seles, who would forget the stabbing incident on her?

And along the line there are a lot of women like Lindsay Davenport, Justin Henin, Kim Clijsters, Jennifer Capriati and Mary Pierce.
Williams sister did an amazing job in the history of Tennis .. we remember how we used to sit and watch all the matches of Graf and Williams and Seles.
I was young at that time - and after every match I used to stand in-front of mirror thinking I am a big Tennis star who has won the match today.
Hard work pays off but where are all these sports women these days? are they living retired life?

But I have taken Rune on handicap and Sinner to win. Yea It could be close but I hope for Sinner
To go to the final after a close match.
In the end Sinner forfeited when he was loosing 5:2 in third set. Did not watch the match but if he did not injure himself in the point before forfeiting then it was a real dick move. I hate it when players play with some minor discomfort and then decide to forfeit just before the end. He could have just stood there and let Rune serve it out. As I already said, I did not watch it so maybe it was a bad injury and he had no choice, like Zverev earlier in the season, but tennis injuries are usually of the sort that it doesn't really make a difference if you spend few more games on the pitch let alone few points.

Yes and my two bets suffered from "all bets are off"

I was watching it, Sinner took a real heavy fall in the third set, he slipped backwards and hit
the back of his head, he tried to continue and was trying to keep the points short but had to retire.
Short highlights below, the fall is at 3.55

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=AEARHUWIhAM

And Musetti to lose means a very unlikely final!

Unexpected results in the sofia atp semifinals both sinner and musetti lost and they were the favourite ones, musetti performance was a terrible one he lost 2 0 and was not able to break even one of his opponents serves, and sinner on the otherhand had a good first set and then his performance was going down until that disasterous third set, the final will be between Rune and hueslar which i expect Rune to win.

Did anyone watch today Djokovic,he played so easily against Safiulin just dominated him easily in straight sets 2-0(6-1 7-6). I think this will be the easiest tournament won for novak djokovic in his entire history of tennis career. He is playing with all of them so far
it looks like the easiest one he played, in the final he will be facing Cilic, and with his stats these days he won't be a strong opponent for Djokovic, I don't think Cilic can win a set, it's probably going to be a 2-0 win for Novak.

Sofia atp competition champion is slowly showing up we will have an exciting semi final tomorrow between sinner and  Rune this will be a real challenge for sinner in this competition Rune has been a really tough opponent this last year and he is slowly gaining experience beating him will be difficult for sinner i expect a three set game tomorrow.

early in the season Rune was making a name for himself but later he went off the boil and
Now seems to be very competitive reaching the semi final.
Obviously most people favour Sinner
But I have taken Rune on handicap and Sinner to win. Yea It could be close but I hope for Sinner
To go to the final after a close match.

The other Semi is Musetti v Huesler, I don't know anything about that player at all and the odds
are closer in that match than Sinner v Rune.

I believe that Sinner is going to be the favorite going into this match. Rune will have to be careful about his fitness. I think that is the only reason why Sinner is going to be the one to be the favourite in this match. The match is going to start after a short period of time. This is going to be a good match.

Musetti v Huesler is going on right now and even though before the match it felt like Musetti might have the upper hand going into this match, right now Huesler is ahead.
