Latest news from Mexico:
''Alexander Zverev beat Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-4 7-6 (7-3) to win his 14th ATP Tour title''
British pair Ken and Neal Skupski win doubles title.
There is no information about new earthquakes, it seems that all tennis matches ended in peace today  Cheesy
An interesting tennis week in Mexico, anyway.

Yeah, actually I put a bet on Tsitsipas juicy odds when he lost the first set and I thought he will come back, and he did actually but it was not enough to beat Zverev.

It was really an interesting tennis week for us, it's just that my boy didn't win the title. But we will see, there's a lot of tournaments in the next coming months and we do hope that there's no more earthquake at least to affect any games.

Interesting tennis news from Mexico: ''An earthquake failed to stop Alexander Zverev from beating fellow German Dominik Koepfer to reach the Mexican Open final in Acapulco.''

Meanwhile, great news has arrived for tennis fans from Wimbledon:
''This summer's Wimbledon championships is likely to go ahead with a reduced capacity crowd, organisers have said.''
Tennis seems to be slowly returning to normal.

Yeah this was interesting to read about the earthquake, I remember there was an earthquake many years ago at a baseball game which is on YouTube, that's is the only other sporting event I know of but I'm sure there is a lot more.

Wimbledon is one of my favourite grand slams so I do hope that it goes ahead this year. They still have some time and hopefully by then most of England would of had the vaccine as they seem to be rolling it out fast with million vaccinated already.

Thanks for the link, I agree mate, the earthquake thingy is just weird by interesting.

Of course who wouldn't want to want the Wimbledon, its also my favorite Grand Slams to watch and it's good to hear that as early as March, we know that the tournament will proceed with fans in this pandemic era. Want to see Roger Federer in Wimbledon, he is one of the crowd favorite for sure in this tournament.

Rublev has lost to Karatsev, this is quite surprising because Rublev's performance is quite impressive in every ATP 500 tournament he participated in, especially he is the second seed in this tournament, in the final Karatsev will face L. Harris who is also a non-seeded who defeated D.Tiem, what is your though about this final match?

It's Karatsev who won the Dubai Open, 6-3, 6-2. This guy is on a roll.

Russians are taking the tournaments now: Daniil Medvedev (Marseille) and Andrey Rublev (Rotterdam) and now Karatsev in Dubai.

Karatsev performances were also quite impressive lately but I also expected Rublev to win after tough fight. I watched whole match between Harris and Shapovalov yesterday and I saw some incredible tennis. Harris has a very good serve and if he keeps his intensity in play he is my favorite for today. Karatsev has ups and downs in every match and Harris could exploit that.

^^ Exactly, the pressure is still on them, the young generations to show that they have the guts to stay with the top 3. Yes, he may have snug the second spot because Nadal wasn't playing enough tournaments to at least maintain some distance, but it close that maybe winning another Grand Slam this year will put him back to number two. So it's going to be a battle and makes it more interesting tennis for this year at least.

@Kemarit we keep saying that the younger players can catch up to famous 3, but year after year I feel that they keep on disappointing us with their performances. Also for Nadal to catch up he’ll require to step up his fitness game, because if he keeps on constantly getting injured then he’ll have a poor season again.

I agree that they keep on disappointing us,  that's why I said the pressure is on to them for many years now and yet they haven't win any major Grand Slams except when the big 3 is injured or unable to go to the finals because of circumstances (like what happened to Djokovic).

I still do believed that Nadal can catch up again, he will be resting and probably concentrate on surface that he is unbeatable, while Medvedev will need to go 100% every tournament to stay at the second spot.

As I said before in here, I think we'll start to see the younger generation shine once the top 3 retire. While Djokovic and Nadal are in top form when it comes to grand slams, then we won't see the young talent win grand slams. I hope that I'm wrong because I like to see the up and comers do well and win grand slams but its just not happening right now.

The only thing that will stop the top 3 is injuries which we are seeing with Nadal and Federer right now. Djokovic seems to be doing fine even after he sustained an injury during the AO but has now taken time to rest and get ready for the French Open.

Changes in rank 2 and 3, Nadal fell to number 3 and Medvedev rose to rank 2
https://www.atptour.com/en/rankings/singles

In the Dubai tournament, D. Thiem lost to Harris which was quite surprising, and in 2021 he has not yet shown an impressive performance.

For me this doesn't mean much to see Medvedev overtake Nadal in the rankings as Medvedev is still yet to win a major tournament. He has played in 6 more tournaments then Nadal so it was coming for him to overtake Nadal. Most likely Nadal will reach the French Open final and maybe even win it which will see him take back the number 2 ranking and put a decent sized gap between him and Medvedev.

Thiem seems to be down on form this year but hopefully the clay court season will see him find some form again like we have seen in the past. For some reason Thiem seems to have a good mid to end season but not so good at the start of the year.

I agree mate, that is a still a big question mark on Medvedev, although is move past Nadal at the second spot behind Djokovic, the burden of proof is still on him. Of course, Rafa is not happy seeing his ranking drop, and for sure, every tournament he joins, he will have this in his mind as motivation.

So Medvedev better be prepared, there is a big pressure on his shoulder now to be the number 2. So we will see if he can perform as prove that second spot in standing is no fluke.

That's right mate. I still can't forget his statement before the AO final against Djokovic, Medvedev said that all the pressure is on Djokovic because he had never lost a AO final but Djokovic came out and blew Medvedev away and won the match easy. Its ok to talk but he needs to back it up when playing against the top players because still he is no match for them in major tournaments. That's right all the pressure is on him now being ranked number 2, he needs to prove that he is worthy ranked number 2, for me I don't but that is just my opinion.

Yes it was quite a supprise that dominic thiem was out so early in dubai and doha tournaments and even in australia so he is having a bad start this season and that is why he lost the third place and as for medvedev he is doing really good and he earned that second place and i think he is the best right now after jokovic.

And a little note to this, after 16 years Medvedev is the first outside from the TOP 4 players (Djokovic, Nadal, Federer and Murray) who manages to get into the TOP 2. As an Austrian, I would have been happy if it had been Thiem, but he seems to have a drop in form at the moment.

Medvedev needs to proved his rank #2, by winning major tournaments to be able to sustain it. Otherwise, when Nadal comes back and play his usual tennis, he can reclaim the number 2 spot again.

Thiem should concentrate more on clay though, that suits his game perfectly.

For Murray, I do agree, that he is way past his prime, no offense to Murray fans here.

Latest news: ''
Britain's Andy Murray has been awarded a wildcard for this month's Miami Open.''

Is this the last attempt to save a once great tennis career?
After a lot of health problems in recent years, Murray is no longer even among the top 100 players in the world and his return to the top of tennis will be very difficult, if not impossible.
What do you think?

Source: https://www.bbc.com/sport/tennis/56408414

Murray for me is pretty much done on tennis and I doubt that he can recover his old self and salvage his tennis career.

Good to see him being awarded a wild card in Miami, and hope that he can perform at least to go past the second round. Maybe we can see some semblance of his old self, but it will be difficult for him to regain because of the injuries, wear and tear in his body.
