The latest news:
''World number three and 2018 champion Simona Halep has withdrawn from the French Open with a left calf injury.''
Halep always played very well in Paris, she was in the finals three times and this is a big loss for the women's part of the tournament.
Halep once managed to win this tournament in 2018, but this year she will not get another chance.

Finally, and one very good news for all tennis fans:
''Wimbledon says it is "confident" more than 25% of fans will be allowed to attend when the tournament returns to the All England Club next month.''

^^ Yes, I fancy that Tsitsipas might to go the finals and win this tournament.

Won by 2 sets, it's not easy by he manage to break early and never give Nishioka a chance.

So it will be the last local hero Musetti against Tsitsipas, will be interesting what will be the outcome, but I'm seeing Stepanos winning again by 2 sets.

Yes Thiem would have been looking forward to progress to next round and get as
much game time ahead of RG. Cant believe he fell to Norrie.
As I have commented yesterday, Thiem is on the struggle, I should have pull the trigger and either bet against him or Gasquet from @Jating and @Trofo analyst, damn, I became gun shy.

I have missed a lot of games over the last few days so its looking like Tsitsipas the
clear favourite to take the Lyon title. The 8th ceed Khachanov is also still in
contention but he has a tougher match against Gasquet.
Yes, notice that you are somewhat missing in this thread. And I agree taht Tsitsipas is now the clear favourite to take the title, he still needs to win though against a dangerous Nishioka who pull an upset against Monfils, come back from 0-1 and won the last 2, winning the last set in tie-break.

Wasnt to be in the end, Tsitsipas keeps the win to a two setter after a tie break,
he is looking quite strong. Interesting semi against Musetti, I think I still fancy
Tsitsipas to at least get to the final.

Second semi could be very interesting Khachanov against either Norrie or Rinderknech
the lucky looser sinner slayer!

That game us suspended, so thats not favourable for either to play the last set of
that game and then play a semi against Karen, that will be tough in itself. I fancy Khachanov!

Unfortunately, federer lost his comeback at the beginning of the week, he may still be preparing for Wimbledon and trying to play well there and then ending an impressive career. Thiem has also lost his preparation for Paris, I don't think that he is still one of the favorites for Paris, but we'll see.

I'm looking at Gasquet vs Schwartzman, Gasquet @3.70 underdog, I'm liking his chances against Diego.
Same here but I opted for much more secure Gasquet +4.5 @1.9.

Gasquet is totally out of form but this is his home tournament and he has excellent head 2 head with Schwarzman. Schwartzman is also in the bad patch and I would not be surprised if Gasquet wins. Handicap should be a sure thing.

Good call guys, Gasquet won the game, and it's true Schwartzman is in really worst form, late 2020 and early 2021 he was really doing good and then the sudden downfall on his performance.

Sinner and Thiem is also out, only my boy Stepanos is left as seeded player to go into the quarter finals.

So I'm betting on him to win this tournament.

Thanks, yeah Tsitsipas should be the favourite now as Sinner and Thiem are eliminated already.

@Rabi3 - it's more on Schwartzman here, he hasn't been playing high level tennis and the only thing that he is consistent is losing in the round of 16, that's why him being the favourite is really a good giveaway, won my bet on boosted odds @3.89. But against Khachanov it might be a different story though.

My bet is on Musetti vs Bedene -2.5. The game has started with Musetti leading the first set 5-2.

Has anyone placed the bet on Norrie? If there was, the return would be big, the result of this match was unexpected, Thiem lost in straight sets to Norrie.
Well, Thiem need stepforward for next big tournament

This was totally unexpected from Gasquest but was playing at home so he was really motivated
but this will of 2-0 was just too much he smashed him today and took the win.Lets see how far he can go

Richard Gasquet made it and won the match, nice one guys, his next match is aginst Khachanov, he's the underdog again @2.37 but i don't think he can do it tomorrow too, or can he ?! i am just gonna avoid it it's unclear to me, but maybe three sets is a good bet.

what a terrible start for Roger today, even though it was on clay against a spanish player who preforms well on clay, but still a bad look for Federer, maybe in the upcoming tournaments we'll see something different from him and he will start to get on his feet again.

It's always sad for me when roger loses a match, but as you already mentioned he had a really tough opponent and everyone knows that clay is the surface that federer likes the least and he was out for more than a year now being already 39 years old. In the last few years he skipped the clay season most of the time and started preparing for wimbledon once the grass tournaments started. Now he must use the clay tournaments and the french open as preparation for wimbledon which is pretty weird. I don't think we should expect to much from federer in those clay tournaments. I just hope he performs well in wimbledon and reaches the quarterfinal.

Thiem vs Norrie might be a good match as well. Thiem is the top seed in this tournament but we have seen the he has struggle in the past 2 tournaments so he might be extended by Norrie.

Monfils has started winning the first set against Nishioka, 6-4. I'm tempted to beat on Gasquet based on your analysis here,  Smiley. See him struggle as well specially going into the round of 16 and always lost to relatively unknown players.

Is the game suspended again? I thought that Karatsev vs Sinner should be over by now as I have put a bet on Karatsev. In any case the match should start in about 10 hours so I can probably watch it.

Never thought that Federer will be upset, although we all know that clay is not his favorite surface so maybe that's the reason he lost. I agree with @Trofo, Roger just testing his conditions, specially his reaction time.

Yes, but the game will resume today in about one hour.

Hard to predict this game, but I will go for Sinner, he had a break out year, and given his form in the last 2 or 3 clay tournaments, this kid is really improving and showing us good tennis, and personally I'm impressed. It's going to be close and I'm seeing probably a 3 sets here. Head to head, it's 1-0 Karatsev in Dubai, but it was a hard fought match as well.

I thought that Karatsev will have an easy match as he won the first set 6-0.

However, Sinner come back strong in the second set, got the early break, but Karatsev come back and trying to force 4-4, however, Sinner hold and then finished the set with a 6-3.

Didn't see the third set but from the score ,it seems the same story, 6-4.

Another good win for Jannik against a tough opponent here, he will be facing Arthur Rinderknech.

Sinner to win? current odds @1.15, just shows that the kid is really building some momentum int this tournament as the odds reflects on that.

I'm looking at Gasquet vs Schwartzman, Gasquet @3.70 underdog, I'm liking his chances against Diego.

Anyone have a bet on Andujar to win? that would have been a good reward.

He will be dissapointed with that alright, he wants game time, he will definitely
be looking to RG for more.

TBH I thought he would come through todays match but I didnt factor his opponent
and the surface, He was favourite though.

Did not expect much from Federer on clay, it is his worst surface even when 100% ready. I was really surprised he decided to play at all. I guess it was only because this is a tournament in his home country and maybe he wanted it as a test before RG. Now with this result I am sort of expecting him to say he will skip RG this year as well and concentrate on grass part of the season.
